Verizon To Launch the Rugged Casio G'zOne Brigade? Packs a QWERTY Keyboard

Labels: , , ,

An awkward name for a phone, the Casio G'zOne Brigade. This handset appears to be a rugged handset that surprisingly packs a QWERTY keyboard which looks pretty usable. Other specs and pricing details and launch details are still unknown, but it looks like it could launch on Verizon's network.

Saygus VPhone V1 To Be The Mysterious Third Android Device On Verizon?

Labels: , , , , , ,

The latest big rumour is that what you see above will be Verizon's third Android handset, the Saygus VPhone V1 - a company I've never heard of before. The company may not be well known, but this handset has just passed the FCC and has some pretty nice features. They include: a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a 5MP camera, a 624MHz Marvell PXA310 CPU, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, a microSD card slot, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, and an FM radio. The sad news about this phone is that it does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, instead you'll be stuck using its miniUSB port.

Why could it be headed to Verizon? Because on their Saygus' own site they have the Verizon article that mentioned a "third mystery device" from an underdog company - which would definitely be them. Could this be it?

We've been hearing about this for a while (at least on Rogers' network in Canada) but it looks like AT&T could be launching an 8GB iPhone 3GS just in time for Christmas. And yes, it'll retain the $99 pricing that the 8GB iPhone 3G model currently has. I wonder if it's true...

That Q1 Asus Smartbook Is Delayed Until Q2 2010, Could Push Android Or Chrome OS

Labels: , , , ,

Last week we heard that Asus would be releasing a smartbook in Q1 2010 for just $184. The bad news here is that it looks like they have already silently mentioned that this said smartbook will actually be delayed until Q2 2010. The OS was tipped to be Google's Android or Google's Chrome OS, but I'm sure we'll see a couple of different options.

O2 and T-Mobile UK Tested and Decided Not To Launch the Motorola Milestone / DROID

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Well, it looks like there are some carriers in the UK that tested out the phone some 6 months ago and actually didn't want to launch it. Yes, I'm looking at O2 and T-Mobile. They will not be launching the Motorola Milestone / DROID. They thought it had a lot to offer, but in the end they decided not to launch it. Oh well.

Best Buy Canada Ad Shows Off a New LG IQ Handset, Headed To What Carrier?

Labels: , , ,

As you can see in the Best Buy ad above there's the LG Eve (GW620), which launched on Rogers earlier this week, the LG BL40, which is available today on Telus as the New Chocolate, and the LG IQ. Yup, we know all about the first two handsets, but what is the last one. LG IQ? Well, I guess we'll have to wait for it because we don't have any official information on it yet.

To me, it reminds me of the LG GW520 / GW525 or the LG GM730 with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. I doubt that the screen is larger than 3-inches though since LG doesn't have a handset which is over 3-inches - except for the BL40.

Verizon now has the Chocolate Touch available for you to buy for $79.99 on a 2-year contract after a $50 rebate. Go on Verizon's website here if you want to buy it - but I think you should wait until the DROID launch tomorrow.

Update: Alltel looks like they have also launched this handset as well, but they're calling it the LG AX8575 Touch. It's available for free after a $50 mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract with them though. Check it out on Alltel's website here.

T-Mobile Slowly Rolling Out HSPA 7.2Mbps Starting Right Now!

Labels: ,

T-Mobile had a pretty significant outage yesterday, but those customers should probably know that T-Mobile is actually rolling out their new 7.2Mbps 3G network at this very moment. At this point of writing, T-Mobile hasn't issued an official statement, but I think they will by the end of the day. Faster download speed for Americans on T-Mobile - who haven't had the best of years.

Up North, Canada's Bell Mobility launched their 21Mbps HSPA network yesterday! Telus also launched their HSPA network today.

More Pictures of the Sony Ericsson Kurara Leak Out, This Time Without "HD" On the Back

Labels: , , , ,

Just yesterday, we got our first look at the Sony Ericsson Kurara and it clearly had the letters "HD" printed on the back, which signaled that it could record some HD video of some sort. Well, another photo has popped up today, and as you can clearly see, it doesn't have the "HD" labelling on the back this time. We don't know which one to believe, but the picture we saw yesterday could've been photoshopped. Either that or this is an old production unit.

T-Mobile Officially Announcing the Android-Based Samsung Behold II On November 12th

Labels: , , , , , ,

It looks like T-Mobile is just about ready to officially unveil and announce the Android-based Samsung Behold II. This event will take place on November 12th, just like it says, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. so mark that on your calendars if you're interested. You shouldn't be expecting much since we know all about it already. The Behold II features: a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, aGPS / WiFi / 3G support, and 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot.

Let's hope T-Mobile really doesn't plan to launch it for $249.99 on a 2-year contract, because that's overpriced... especially with the Verizon Motorola DROID at just $199.99 starting tomorrow, November 6th.

Asus Delays Eee Keyboard PC Again (To 2010), This Time With a Capacitive Touchscreen

Labels: , , , , ,

Well, surprisingly enough, Asus has just delayed the launch of their Eee Keyboard PC again! This time it's scheduled to launch in early 2010 with Windows 7 and a new capacitive touchscreen display. They've mentioned that touch input was more accurate with a capacitive touchscreen display rather than the resistive one that it used to be built with.

Early 2010... great. Make us wait even longer. Asus pulling that old Garmin-Asus Nuvifone G60 hat again.

Update: According to Netbooked, there will also be a stylus tucked somewhere in the keyboard, which I actually didn't know about. They also point out that there'll be a non-metallic model with integrated WiFi support. Sadly, they report a Q1 2010 release date though.
