Fido Launching the BlackBerry Curve 8520 On February 2nd?

Labels: , , , , ,

Telus just launched the CDMA variant of this smartphone this morning and now we're hearing that Fido is set to launch the BlackBerry Curve 8520 on February 2nd. It's just a rumour right now and we also don't know how much it'll go for so we'll have to wait until all of this gets official. It'll be arriving in Q1 2010 though, so the wait should be short-lived.

We know that this PC comes with an Intel Pentium T4400 2.2GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, an optical drive, and GeForce G310 graphics. We don't know when it will launch, but it should be hitting the Korean market shortly.

Microsoft Project Pink / Zune Phone Rumoured To Be Launching In Less Than Two Months

Labels: , , , , ,

The latest rumour states that we could see that Zune / Project Pink phone in around two months. If this is the case it'll likely be running the rumoured Windows Mobile 6.6 OS which is scheduled to launch soon. Theoretically it should be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7 since this'll be Microsoft's own phone - like Google's own Nexus One. If the launch is coming in two months we should be expecting it at MWC which takes place a month from now.

RIM's New Browser Expected To Launch Before May 2010

Labels: , , ,

We already know that RIM is looking to revamp and make their web browser a lot better - on BlackBerry smartphones. This new browser is expected to support Flash and is expected to launch before May 2010. We'll see what happens when they decide to launch it - let's hope they'll have it in beta form soon.

In addition, they state that “RIM’s new browser architecture allows MDS, instead of the browser, to handle communication with websites, returning only the final message to the handset, which results in faster and much more efficient browsing on the mobile device.”

LG X-Note X300 Notebook Ad Copies Apple

Labels: , ,

I couldn't help but laugh watching LG's commercial for their X-Note X300 notebook. The ad is above and it clearly bites from Apple - although I hate to admit it. The X300 notebook from LG does out-thin the MacBook Air being just 0.7-inches and is also lighter tipping the scaled at just 2.1 pounds. Performance wise though the Air has it beat. However, the X300 does have 3G connectivity and SSD options.

Gigabyte Android Smartphone Gets Pictured, Hitting Russia In February

Labels: , , , ,

It was just a couple of days ago where I told you that Gigabyte would be making their own Android smartphones and now we have pictures on what it will possibly look like. This will be a part of their GSmart line-up but we don't have an exact name for it yet. This handset will feature a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, GSM / GPRS / EDGE connectivity, WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth 2.0 support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 2MP AF camera, a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, a microSD card slot, a trackball, a 1,500 mAh battery, and Android 1.6 (hopefully updated by the time it launches).

The look really reminds me of an HTC Magic except it'll be significantly smaller. I'm actually not feeling the look at all to be honest. Anyways, it'll be hitting Russia in February for 9,000 RUB ($300 USD).

Telus Launches the CDMA BlackBerry Curve 8530 For $50

Labels: , , , ,

The BlackBerry Curve 8530 has just been launched by Canada's Telus. This smartphone will be coming pre-loaded with BB OS 5.0 which is great news. The bad news here is that it's a CDMA device so you won't be able to use Telus' new [and way faster] HSPA network. Check it out on Telus here.

Some iPhone OS 4.0 Features Leak Out, Multi-Tasking, New UI, Multi-Touch Everywhere

Labels: , , ,

Boy Genius has seemed to pick up the scoop on what the iPhone OS 4.0 will be bringing to the table. The full list is below.

  • There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
  • “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
  • Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
  • The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
  • The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

Wow! Finally the iPhone will be getting some kind of multi-tasking which is great news. The multi-touch gestures also make sense as well seeing as we'll likely see this in the tablet as well. We don't know what the new UI will look like, but let's hope that it's as good as we hope it'll be. The bad news is that the iPhone 3G and 3GS will be the only devices getting it. Wednesday January 27th, be there!

13.1-Inch Sony Vaio Z Netbooks To Sport Quad SSDs, Full HD Displays, Core i7 CPUs and Swappable Graphics

Labels: , , ,

Calm down Sony! They have just updated their Vaio Z notebook to bring Quad SSDs, Intel Core i7 CPU options, and Nvidia GeForce GT 330M graphics. Of course, the graphics will be swappable with some integrated Intel ones. The SSD storage capacities vary from 128GB to 256GB. They've also put a 13.1-inch LED-backlit Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) display on this bad boy which is a lot of pixels for that somewhat small screen. There's also a DVD burner, 3G connectivity, and room for up to 6GB of RAM - just in case you were wondering.

These Vaio Z notebooks should be available this March at the base price of around $1,000.

Motorola (XT701 / XT720) Motoroi Headed To the US This March, The Sholes Tablet!

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like the Motorola XT701 / XT720 that is getting launched as the Motoroi will actually be headed to the US this March which is just two months away! This is definitely the true Sholes tablet especially considering that it features: a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display, an 8MP AF camera that can record 720p video and comes with a xenon flash, an HDMI output, and Android 2.0 (hopefully 2.1 when it launches). Carrier is unknown at the time so we'll see if this'll be a part of the Verizon DROID line-up.
