Some Nokia Handsets Leaked Early; N8 Features 12MP With 720p Video, HDMI Output, and Symbian^3

Labels:

A couple of rumours about the Nokia camp has just surfaced and they're quite good. Below is a list of some of the rumours but the juiciest one is underneath that.

  • C: lower end voice-based.
  • X: focus on entertainment, music for a young target
  • E: dedicated to business, solutions for e-mails
  • N: High-end
  • S: very upscale and limited editions
They highlighted some devices as major models.
  • Nokia C5-00 – Basic business device with GPS. Expected June.
  • Nokia C3-00 – A low-cost multitasking Symbian S40 Qwerty device that run emails in the background.
  • Nokia C5-01 – Qwerty device that’s a direct competitor to Blackberry.

The most interesting device on this list is by far the Nokia N8-00. This handset will reportedly be sporting a 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen display, a 12MP camera with 720p video recording capabilities, an HDMI output, and Symbian^3. Keep in mind that if this rumour is true this will be the company's first 12MP cameraphone. It's also shaping up to very "high-end" and will be one of their best phones to date. I don't think Nokia is attending MWC, but maybe they'll crash the party by announcing a few of these handsets.

Toshiba Unveil U500 Notebook With Multi-Touchscreen Display; Tecra M11 and A11 Break Loose Too!

Labels: , , , ,

Toshiba has just announced a couple of new notebooks that they hope you might enjoy. First up is the U500 which sports a 13.3-inch multi-touchscreen display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution. Unfortunately, it won't do any swiveling. It also features an Intel Core i3-330 2.13GHz CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 320GB HDD, an integrated HD webcam, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth support, a DVD burner, a 5-in-1 card reader, an HDMI / two USB 2.0 ports, and you're stuck with integrated graphics. You get this one now for £650 ($1,014 USD).

Toshiba wasn't done there. They've also unveiled the Tecra M11 and A11 notebooks (above). Both notebooks are just about the same except for the displays which are measured at 14 and 15.6-inches, respectively. They'll boast Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 CPU options, up to a 250GB HDD, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, WiFi a/b/g/n / optional 3G support, a Mini DisplayPort, a fingerprint reader, and an optional numeric keypad. There'll be an "Eco" mode so that you don't drain all of its battery life in 45 minutes.

The A11 is available now for as low as $879 USD and the M11 will be available in March. The price for the M11 is still TBA.

T-Mobile's about to re-launch the myTouch 3G with a 3.5mm headphone jacks in the very near future. Update: According to Gizmodo, the standard headphone jack isn't the only upgrade the re-launched myTouch 3G will be packed with. The revamped myTouch 3G will also have 288MB of RAM, an 8GB microSD card in the box, Visual Voicemail, a Barcode Scanner, and Swype. It'll be available for $150 on a 2-year contract.

Labels: , ,

Panasonic has just revealed the world's most rugged tablet PC and it's being dubbed the Toughbook H1. The tablet itself weighs 3.4 pounds and meets IP65 and MIL-STD-810 standards, which is great news. This means that it can resist a sandstorm and even a couple of six feet drops.

Besides going rugged, it's got a 10.4-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen XGA display, 2GB of RAM, an Intel Atom 1.86GHz Z540 CPU, a 64GB SSD, WiFi a/b/g/n / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, a 2MP camera, an RFID reader, and an optional Gobi 2000 chipset. Unfortunately this thing is far from being cheap since it starts at $3,379 USD.
