Averatec 25.5-Inch D1200 All-in-One PC Priced At $999

Labels: ,

Well, we just heard about Gateway's all-in-one PC, the ZX6800 and some of the specs are still unknown. Averatec, on the other hand, has just announced their own all-in-one PC and everything has been revealed about it. The Averatec D1200 has: a 25.5-inch LCD display, an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz CPU, a 320GB HDD, 4GB of RAM, a built-in TV tuner (for 1080p video / TV playback), an 8x super-multi DVD burner, a 2MP webcam, 802.11n WiFi, and gigabit Ethernet. Now, this is an all-in-one PC that I'd actually consider buying.

It also comes with a wireless keyboard, mouse, and a Media Center remote, but it will unfortunately run Windows Vista Home Premium since it will be available at your local Best Buy "soon." This all-in-one PC is said to be priced at $999 USD.

Freescale Shows Off Android-Based Netbook and Smartbook

Labels: , , , , , ,

Freescale wasn't about to be shut out at Computex this year. This morning they showed off their Android-based Pegatron netbook, which - according to Engadget - handles 720p video playback with ease. They also showed off their smartbook which has a smaller screen than the Toshiba TG01 smartphone and is smaller than other smartbooks that we've seen already. This smartbook runs Android and has a 4-inch touchscreen display as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Both of these products are said to be launching "later this year", so we'll see how long we have to wait for an official announcement of the release date and pricing. Check out the video below, if you want to see more.

The ZX6800 has: an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, DDR3 RAM, a 23-inch Full HD touchscreen display, a hybrid TV tuner, integrated speakers, WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, an HDD, and could possibly have an ExpressCard slot. Gateway never announced the availability or the pricing of the ZX6800, so we'll just have to wait for that information.

Google Chrome Still The Fastest Browser, Sorry Safari

Labels: , , , , , ,

If you take a look at the chart above, Apple's claims this morning may have been false. Safari 4 is, though, the world's fastest stable browser, but it's definitely not the world's fastest browser - as a whole. Google Chrome 3.0.182.2 edges out Safari 4, according to the chart above. Either way, Safari and Chrome beat out the rest of the competition, special thanks to Webkit. Check out a full analysis of the chart above at the link below.

Nokia N97 Hitting New York Flagship Store Tomorrow For $699

Labels: , ,

According to The Nokia Blog, the Nokia N97 will be on sale tomorrow (June 9th) at 11:00 a.m. for $699 USD at the New York City Nokia flagship store. Chicago's flagship stores also "hopes" to be selling their own batch of N97's, but it's not certain yet. If only the N97 had a capacitive touchscreen and a faster CPU, I'd consider finding a way to get one.

Toshiba, Samsung, and Clevo Show Off WiMAX Laptops

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

First up, we'll talk about Toshiba's shot at the WiMAX laptop. They have shown off their Dynabook SS RX2/WAJ. This may seem familiar because it's the same Dynabook that got pegged with a $3,000 price tag because of it's 512GB SSD a month ago. Along with the SSD, it will also have a Core 2 Duo SU9400 CPU, WiMAX, and a 438,000 yen ($4,444 USD) price tag. Just when you thought $3,000 was way too expensive, eh?

Samsung's laptop that will have WiMAX is the NC10 netbook. Along with the new option, it will also havethe same: 10.2-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, 1.6GHz Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, WiFi, Bluerooth 2.0 + EDR, a 1.3MP webcam, and 6-cell battery that you've seen before. This will cost around $519.99 USD.

Last, but not least, is the Clevo M811L that looks like a book, but has the internals of a netbook. Unfortunately, the video is not available right now, so I'll try to update it later if I can find another video.

LG Shows Off Rugged OLED Display, Survives Hammer Test

Labels: , , ,

At Computex, LG showed off an AMOLED display that doesn't break when hit with a hammer!! Talk about impressive. "This one in particular has its AMOLEDs on a glass substrate, with steel behind and a resin coating in front." That's pretty wicked. At least I know that if it were to fall off the stand, the display would still work. Perfect for the clumsy.

Samsung I8000 Omnia2 Revealed

Labels: , , ,

Doesn't this look like the Samsung S8000? Well, it does look like it, but it's actually the Samsung I8000 which is the Omnia2. The Omnia2 will have: a gorgeous 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA resistive touchscreen display, an 8.1MP camera with dual-LED flash and 30fps VGA recording, a Qualcomm CPU (unknown model), a microSD card slot, Bluetooth, 3G, miniUSB connectivity, GPS, and WiFi. On a side note, I can't believe Samsung decided to go with a resistive touchscreen here. Anyways, the Omnia2 will be rocking WinMo 6.1 - which is also terrible - but I'm pretty sure it will be upgradeable to WinMo 6.5 when it is available. It will, of course, have Samsung's TouchWiz UI. The Omnia2's availability date has been mentioned.

You may be wondering why the Omnia2 looks like the Samsung S8000 and the M8000. Well, that's because they are all a part of Samsung's Cubic project, hence the cubical central button. By the way, don't forget about Samsung Unpacked on June 15th.

Safari 4 Now Available, Claims to be the World's Fastest Browser

Labels: , , , ,

Apple has just taken Safari 4 out of beta status and is now calling it the "world's fastest browser." Of course, tests have not been done yet to confirm these claims, but I'm sure those will surface soon. I enjoyed using the Safari 4 beta when it came out, but it was pretty crashy. Apple has announced that Safari 4 is now crash-free, so I'll just have to test that out for myself later today - or tomorrow.

Labels: , , , , ,

Starting on June 19th of this year, the iPhone 3GS will be available. The 16GB and 32GB models of the iPhone 3GS will be going for $199 and $299 USD, respectively. But, what about the iPhone 3G? Well, if you like the slowness and the weak battery life of the iPhone 3G, don't worry because Apple (and AT&T) will still be selling them. The 8GB iPhone 3G will be available for $99 USD and the 16GB model will be retailing for $149. They will all be available via AT&T on 2-year contracts.

iPhone 3GS Announced; Basically Just Fast

Labels: , , , ,

Yes at this afternoon's WWDC, Apple announced the next iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 3GS. I'm fairly disappointed because it's basically just a faster iPhone 3G. Most people will be praising it, but I'm definitely disappointed - to say the least. No black plastic matte backing and no OLED display, which is what I was looking forward to the most. On a side note, it is fast. The iPhone 3GS also has: a 3MP camera with video recording at 30fps (VGA), a built-in compass, Nike+ support, and a better battery life. Check out the full report over at the link below.

Fujitsu F-09A Is a 3.4-Inch Touchscreen Phone With an 8.1MP Camera

Labels: ,

This is definitely impressive, especially from Fujitsu. Their latest handset, the F-09A has a superb spec sheet. For starters, the F-09A has a 3.4-inch "sliding and rotating" touchcscreen display, an 8.1MP AF camera with smile-detection, and is 3G capable. If that wasn't enough, this handset is "the first phone to include an integrated exercise monitor, tracking physical activity and working with the handset's GPS and compass to track progress and offer mapping." Unsurprisingly, this handset will also have integrated TV, Bluetooth, and a web browser. The rotating display also suggests that there could be an accelerometer as well.

This handset is amazing - I just wished it had a QWERTY keyboard - and will be available in Japan on June 10th, courtesy of NTT DoCoMo.

Sony Launching Android-Based Walkman and PND in 2010

Labels: , , ,

Yes, I know that it's at least 7 months away, but it looks like Sony will be utilizing Android in their future devices. A couple of weeks ago, we heard that Sony Ericsson's first Android handset will use Donut aka V2.0, and now we're hearing that Sony is launching an Android-based Walkman and PND (Personal Navigation Device) sometime in 2010. We'll how this turns out. How can you possibly go wrong with Android, right?

JVC Unveils World's Thinnest 32-Inch LCD Display, Just 6.4mm

Labels: , , , ,

I don't know if you remember but back at CES, JVC presented a prototype that claimed to be the world's thinnest 32-inch LCD display. Well, this TV is just 6.4mm thick, which will definitely claim the world's thinnest LCD display title - for now. The display also weighs just 12.5 pounds (world's lightest as well), and has: 400 nits of brightness and a 4,000:1 contrast ratio. This TV is said to be available in Japan this August for around $2,500 USD. JVC did not mention if this will get a release overseas, so we'll just have to be patient.

Like I said, JVC's LCD TV could be dethroned soon because LG is claiming to be working on 5.9mm thin 32-inch displays of their own.

Acer Launching 15.6-Inch 3D Aspire Notebook This October

Labels: , , ,

Back in May, we heard that HP could be launching a notebook with 3D in the future and that it would be using Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision graphics.Well, Acer has decided to announce their own 3D Aspire notebook and it's scheduled for a release in late October. Details are scarce on Acer's 3D Aspire notebook, but the display will be 15.6-inches and it will be bundled with Windows 7. Acer did not mention if they will be utilizing Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision in their Aspire, so we'll just have to see the official spec sheet at a later date. They also didn't announce a price range, so we'll look out for that as well.

Keep in mind that the 3D effect will only be seen with glasses on, so you might get made fun of. However, Acer has mentioned that they are "working on a version that does not require 3D glasses, that, though has 'quite a few technological obstacles to overcome.'" I wish them luck trying to leap over these obstacles.
