Apple Tablet a No-Show at Apple Event on September 9th, iTunes and New iPods Instead

Labels: , , , , , ,

Looks like that Apple event everyone has been talking about lately will not be starring the rumoured Apple iTablet. The event is going to take place on September 9th and will actually be centred around iTunes and their new refreshed iPod line-up. So, we'll probably hear about iTunes 9 and what will be in store for us. This could include Blu-ray support - because they need to make Macs more expensive. And, of course, we'll see refreshed iPods. This probably means iPod Nanos and iPod Touches with cameras. This is just speculation by the way.

What you see above is the awkwardly named Samsung "Honey Bubble." It's got a simplistic slider design with a funky back plate with, of course, a bubbly design. This handset has: a 2MP camera, a T-DMB tuner, and Bluetooth. We don't know when it will be available and we also don't know the price - but it's headed to the Korean market.

Palm Eos Could Be Delayed Until 2010

Labels: , , , ,

This isn't exactly new news, since we heard back in June that the Palm Eos could be delayed. The same rumour has sparked again, but this time it's saying that AT&T could be launching the Eos next year. The Palm Pre is doing pretty well in the US, but if Palm wants to get out of the gutter with their new WebOS then they've got to show up.

Sony Delaying Mid-Sized OLED TVs Until 2010; Sony Ericsson Focusing on Smartphones in the Future

Labels: , , , , , , ,

According to the latest rumour, Sony is delaying their larger - and probably 21-inch - OLED TV until next year (2010). It's no surprise because OLED TVs have been getting delayed left and right. I'm just waiting for the day these get cheaper.

According to Sony Ericsson's new Chief Executive, Bert Nordberg, they will be focusing on smartphones. This is a relief, seeing how Sony Ericsson is a dying brand in the phone industry. I'm just waiting for the day they release their Android-based XPERIA X3 "Rachael" handset. It's the best phone we've heard about to date.

At this point, we still don't know when it will be available, but the dummy phones could be hitting their stores soon.

Sprint Launching Instinct S50 in Mid-September, Android-Based InstinctQ M900 in November?

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Samsung's Instinct S50 has gotten a bunch of name changes. First, it was dubbed the M850 Dash, then the Instinct S50, then the Instinct HD, and now, again, the Instinct S50. We don't really care what the name is at this point, but what you should know is that it's expected to launch on Sprint in mid-September. This is awfully close to the September 8th release date that we heard just four days ago.

The other Samsung Instinct handset that will launch this year is the InstinctQ M900. This could be Sprint's first Android phone and it looks like it could be available sometime in Novemeber. It's a bit later than the October 11th rumour we heard about in late July, but this is just a rumour as well.

Advent Altro Hitting UK on August 24th, a MacBook Air Rival

Labels: , ,

Yeah, surprisingly enough what you see above is not the Apple MacBook Air. This is actually the Advent Altro. The regular edition will sport: a 13.3-inch display, an Intel Celeron ULV CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 120GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth, an integrated webcam, and an HDMI / audio out / one USB 2.0 port. There's also a "multifunction connector" which lets you connect an external port replicator. This will give you another two USB 2.0 ports.

There will also be an Elite model to this ultraportable; this will have: an Intel Core 2 Solo ULV CPU and a "premium flush glass finish." The regular model will cost £600 ($987 USD) and the Elite model will cost £800 ($1,316 USD); in comparison, the MacBook Air in the UK costs £1,149 ($1,874 USD). This will be available starting on August 24th in the UK running Windows Vista, fortunately they have free Windows 7 upgrades.

Samsung Omnia HD Doesn't Launch With 1GHz CPU In India

Labels: , , ,

Five days ago, we heard about the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD launching in India; the one that launched with a 1GHz CPU. Well, it turns out that it was actually a mistake on India's part. They actually combined the numbers of the DSP chip (sound processing chip), which is 420MHz, and the ARM Cortex A8 CPU, which is 600MHz. Together that makes - give or take - 1GHz. This got me and GSM Arena shaking our heads because they have almost nothing to do with each other. Anyways, it looks like everything has been sorted out now. Even with the 600MHz CPU, it's still one of the best phones available right now.

Android MID Pops Up Again, Pictured With Vaio P Cameo

Labels: , , ,

Four days ago, an unknown Android MID surfaced and no one had a clue what it was. Clearly, more photos of the same MID have just popped up again, which should get your blood flowing. It's got a very simplistic design, iPod Touch-like I must say. According to Pocketables, it's about 4.5 inches and long and 3 inches wide - since he compared it to his own Vaio P. The above photo tells us that there's probably an SD card slot somewhere and this device could actually have phone functions. I don't see a secondary camera on this MID, so video calling could be out of the picture. There are two more pictures below and one more photo if you check out the link.
