Asus Eee PC 1215N Netbook To Launch This July; 1.5GHz Dual-Core Atom, Nvidia Ion and Optimus Technology

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We heard about this netbook surfacing two weeks ago and it's gotten just a bit more details. So, netbook sales may be slipping due to the iPad and blah, blah, blah, but that doesn't really matter. The Asus Eee PC 1215N is stating that this netbook will be launching in July with Intel's upcoming dual-core 1.5GHz N500 CPU, Nvidia's next-gen Ion graphics, and Optimus technology to switch from integrated and discrete graphics automatically.

Of course, this netbook will have a 12-inch display and it'll have 1080p HD capabilities. The price will be pegged at anywhere between $550 and $600. This one could be on my list, we'll just have to see how powerful that CPU is when it gets benchmarked though.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro Hits the FCC Twice; One For Europe, the Other For North America

Labels: , , , , ,

It looks like the FCC has granted the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro, but this one is not headed to North America. It's got 900 / 2100MHz bands so it's destined for Europe. I wonder if this S60-powered handset will be hitting North America in the future... Check out the FCC filing here.

Update: According to Engadget Mobile, the Vivaz Pro has passed the FCC again. This time (here) with WCDMA Bands II and V (850 / 1900MHz) and that's perfect for AT&T in the US and Rogers, Bell, and Telus in Canada.

Archos 7 Home Tablet Set To Ship In June With Resistive Touchscreen and Without Android Market

Labels: , , , , ,

If you went out and pre-ordered the Archos 7 Home Tablet then there's some bad news for you. It won't be shipping until sometime in June - late May if you're extremely lucky. If you didn't pre-order one then good for you. Sadly, this tablet packs a resistive touchscreen display and it doesn't have access to the Android Market. Of course, it comes with Archos' own AppsLib store and it's a decent tablet for $199.99. Maybe it'll be better off as a digital picture frame. If you're still interested, you can order one on Amazon here.

Update: Amazon has just updated their site and it now says that the Archos 7 Home Tablet will be available starting on May 17th. Looks like it'll start to ship 2 weeks after that though.

Labels: , , , , ,

It'll be hard to trump the iPad, but this Mastone Lifespad 3G is going to try to do that - but it'll fail of course. This tablet is said to feature a 1GHz Freescale CPU, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, 3G connectivity, and Android 2.1 with full Flash support. It does have the upper-hand spec-wise, but who knows how well it will work in the real world. Of course, this may never hit the market but it has some potential.

We've heard about this handset for just about 2 months now and we're getting some solid information now. The Samsung SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D handset will definitely support 3D images / video without the need for glasses! This is good news, but there's no clue what kind of technology they're using. The handset itself packs a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a WQVGA resolution, a 3.2MP AF camera, 3G / HSPA connectivity, a T-DMB TV tuner, Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, and Samsung's own Touchwiz 2.0 UI.

Sadly, it'll only be hitting South Korea via SK Telcom, KT, and LG Telecom. This will be available sometime before the end of this quarter - so expect it before the end of June.

Labels: , , , , , ,

It looks like a not-so-new Android handset has just been spotted at the FCC. It's the Dell Aero, which should be hitting AT&T sometime in June to close out Q2. Of course, it's got 3G connectivity on the 850 / 1900MHz bands along with Bluetooth, WiFi b/g support, a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 624MHz Marvell CPU, and Android 1.5 which is a huge let down. Of course, there are plans to update it to Android 2.1 before the end of the year. With all the juicy new Dell products coming out later this year, this probably isn't worth it unless you're desperate.
