Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Another model of Asus' Eee Box EB1501 has just popped up out of nowhere (they always do) and this one is the EB1501P. This is probably their best one to date sporting Nvidia's Ion 2 graphics, a dual-core Intel Atom D525 CPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB HDD, HDMI output, WiFi 802.11n / Bluetooth support, an eSATA port, and USB ports. Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This netbook is going to be sporting a 12.1-inch display, an Intel Atom dual-core D525 1.8GHz CPU, and Nvidia's Ion 2 graphics. This netbook will be one of the most powerful netbooks out there and will be shipping in the US on August 23rd. Back in March we heard about the Shuttle XS35 nettop and it looks like it's going to be available sometime in September. The nettop itself feature a dual-core Intel Atom D510 CPU, next-generation Ion graphics, HDMI / five USB / VGA ports, and Windows 7. Asus Eee PC 1215N Netbook To Launch This July; 1.5GHz Dual-Core Atom, Nvidia Ion and Optimus Technology

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We heard about this netbook surfacing two weeks ago and it's gotten just a bit more details. So, netbook sales may be slipping due to the iPad and blah, blah, blah, but that doesn't really matter. The Asus Eee PC 1215N is stating that this netbook will be launching in July with Intel's upcoming dual-core 1.5GHz N500 CPU, Nvidia's next-gen Ion graphics, and Optimus technology to switch from integrated and discrete graphics automatically.

Of course, this netbook will have a 12-inch display and it'll have 1080p HD capabilities. The price will be pegged at anywhere between $550 and $600. This one could be on my list, we'll just have to see how powerful that CPU is when it gets benchmarked though.

Shenzhen Show Off MacBook Pro Clone With Ion 2 Graphics

Labels: , , ,

Another MacBook Pro clone, obviously from the other side of the world. This one's the Shenzhen Dragonfly QT Pro notebook and it's actually packing a decent spec sheet. It has a 14-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Atom D410 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, Nvidia's Ion 2 [switchable] graphics, a 160GB HDD, WiFi b/g/n support, and an HDMI port. It's also got an aluminum body which isn't bad. The sad part about all of this is that you'll only get 2 hours of battery life from this notebook.

Asus Eee PC 1201PN Netbook Won't Have Optimus; 1215N Leaks Out, Sporting Optimus and Dual-Core Atom

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

The Asus Eee PC 1201PN netbook is one of the first netbooks to launch with the next-gen Nvidia Ion graphics, but it looks like it won't be sporting the Optimus technology that Nvidia has to offer. If you were waiting for the next-gen Ion graphics along with the Optimus technology it now looks like the 1201PN netbook isn't the way to go. Instead a new Eee PC has popped up in Italy.

The Asus Eee PC 1215N will be hitting the shelves in the next couple of months - in June - and it'll be the successor to the 1201PN, which launches in May. The 1215N will be launching with Nvidia's Optimus technology, the next-gen Ion graphics, and the dual-core Atom N500 CPU.

Quanta QW6 Netbook Spotted at the FCC, Could Be Sporting Ion 2

Labels: , , , , ,

A new netbook from Quanta has just been spotted at the FCC. It's the QW6 and it looks pretty good with its 10-inch display and a matte lid. It's got a glossy display and buttonless keyboard so we'll have to see how that works out. The good news is that it is packing an HDMI output and integrated graphics can't handle HD output. This could be hinting that it'll be packing some Ion 2 graphics goodness. Check out the FCC filing here.

Shuttle XS35 Nettop Shows Off the Power Of Ion 2 On Video

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Shuttle is hyping up their XS35 nettop launch by demoing what it can do on video. It's running an underwhelming Atom D510 CPU but it's paired up with Nvidia Ion 2 graphics so it still manages to smoothly play 1080p content - whether that's Blu-ray or Flash. Engadget points out that this nettop would be perfect to use as an HTPC so check out the video below.

Acer Aspire One 532G Netbook To Cost You 379 Euros

Labels: , , , , , ,

You may know the Acer Aspire One 532G netbook and it looks like they just found a possible price tag for it. Apparently it'll be launching for 379 Euros ($516 USD) sometime soon. Besides the Ion 2 with Nvidia's Optimus technology it's a fairly standard netbook. Sadly, early benchmarks stated that this netbook actually has a lower graphics benchmark than the old Ion.

MSI Show Off Their First Notebooks Using Nvidia Optimus Technology

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

MSI has just shown off their first notebooks at CeBIT that will use the new Nvidia Optimus technology. There'll be two models right now, the 14-inch FX400 and the 15.6-inch FX600. Both of them will have GeForce 300M graphics cards and I'm actually liking the way they look. MSI has the tendency to use their boring old models over and over again so I'm actually loving this new look that they've come up with. Inside you'll find the Core i5 CPU and up to 4GB of RAM. The release details and pricing hasn't been mentioned yet, so you can just adore the pictures for now.

Nvidia Makes the ION 2 Official, Calls It the Next-Gen ION Instead

Labels: , , , , , , ,

It's just been made official. Although it's not officially being called the Nvidia Ion 2 it's definitely the newer model - not necessarily much faster though. This new ION will feature their new Optimus automatic graphic switching technology which was made to save your battery life. Everything you need to know is below to be honest so I don't have to go through much for you. What it doesn't mention is that it'll handle 1080p Blu-ray / Flash output easily. Nvidia mentioned that there'll be 30 more ION netbooks, nettops, and all-in-one PCs before the Summer (probably ends not begins). Some of these products include the 1201PN, Eee Top 2010PNT, Lenovo C200, and the newer Acer Aspire Revo models.

Keep in mind that this could be what the MacBook Pros will use in their refresh - whenever that happens.

  • The platform comes on a PCI Express card
  • ION systems will typically have 512MB of dedicated memory and HDMI output
  • Supports netbooks with 10 and 12 inch screens
  • The 10 inch model has 8 CPU cores, while the 12 inch version has 16
  • The reason the 10 inch chip is less powerful is because there’s a tighter space with less thermal cooling in smaller netbooks
  • Next-gen ION chips will support Optimus technology for automatic graphics switching, which means better battery life
  • Acer, Asus, HP, Lenovo, and Zotac are among the launch partners with netbooks, all-in-one desktops, and nettops built around next-generation ION
  • Next-generation ION systems should be priced about the same as first generation ION computers
  • It’s not called ION 2

This Windows 7 netbook will be 1-inch thick and will weigh 1kg.

Nvidia Announces New Automatic GPU-Switching Technology, Call It Optimus

Labels: , , , , ,

Nvidia has just announced their latest technology that is made to save you some battery. It has something to do with automatic-graphics switching (which at this point is done manually), which is great. "NVIDIA has debuted new Optimus tech that takes over the task of choosing what GPU to use and switches between the two automatically depending on what is needed at the time. The machine will known when you stop writing that email, switching to playing your favorite PC game, and change the GPU used without you even having to think about it." This technology is expected to included in new Intel Core 2010 and Pineview Atom CPUs. Nvidia's own GeForce 200M, 300M, next-generation GeForce M, and Ion 2 GPUs will utilize this new technology.

This technology will debut in March with Asus' notebooks bringing this technology to the market. Maybe Apple will be refreshing their MacBook Pros shortly after with Core i5 / i7 CPU options and Optimus.

Asus Launching 12-Inch Eee PC With Nvidia Ion 2 Graphics In April?

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Digitimes is back at it again. This time they're mentioning that Asus will be launching an Eee PC in April with Nvidia's Ion 2 graphics. This would be pretty amazing considering that the Intel Atom N470 CPUs should be well on their way by then. I'm hoping that it will be the successor to their Eee PC 1201N netbook since it's said to feature a 12-inch display.

They also mentioned that the Eee PC T101 netbook tablet will be launching in late February and so will those 12-inch Eee PCs running on AMD's Congo platform.

Update: According to Engadget, the 12-inch Eee PCs running on AMD's Congo platform will be the 1201T. This netbook is running the 1.6GHz MV40 CPU and also features 2GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD, ATI HD3200 graphics, and Windows 7. It's actually been spotted on Amazon Germany here and it's retailing for €399 ($560 USD).
