This one's reportedly going to be hitting the market in 2012 so it'll be out after their first tablet which will feature a slightly smaller (9-inch) display. Specs for this one are unknown right now but it'll hopefully house a Nvidia Kal-El (Tegra 3) chipset.

Specs are unknown yet but it should feature a better camera and possibly a slightly larger display. Of course, it'll also have iOS 5 which looks like it'll be the final straw for RIM and the BlackBerry since it has iMessage. The announcement should be coming up in a few weeks.

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to DigiTimes, Asus could be prepping a 13-inch Android netbook - yep, not a Chromebook. Apparently, Nvidia will be powering this one with their own quad-core ARM CPU so it could actually house a Tegra 3 chipset. Other specs for this one are unknown right now but hopefully it packs a touchscreen display because you won't really want to navigate through the Android OS with a touchpad.

Labels: , , , , ,

Yes, DigiTimes is back at it again. This time they're reporting that Amazon's upcoming Android tablet could be available as early as this August and it could house a TI CPU. Keep in mind that the picture above is just a photoshop of a Samsung Galaxy Tab so don't expect Amazon's tablet to look too similar. Other specs are still unknown right now but at least you have an idea of when it'll be available.

Next iPhone Could Have a "Curved Cover Glass", Whatever That Is

Labels: , , ,

Coming from Digitimes is word that Apple could be planning to make a "curved cover glass" for the next iPhone. It's unknown exactly what they're talking about right now but maybe it'll be something similar to the Contour Display found on the Google Nexus S that Samsung made. Apparently, Apple has bought 200 - 300 glass cutting machines to use for it. We'll just have to wait and see what Apple has in store for us.

Asus Gearing Up Tegra 3 and Intel-Powered Tablets, Launch This Year?

Labels: , , , , ,

Asus may have a shortage of Eee Pad Transformer tablets but it looks like DigiTimes is reporting that they have another tablet that could be on the way in a few months. Apparently, on pace for this year is a Tegra 3 and even Intel-powered tablets. Guesses right now clock the Intel CPU to be a 1.5GHz Atom Z670 so both tablets will be easily capable of outputting 1080p video. Furthermore, these new CPUs could start popping up in tablets in August of this year which isn't too much waiting. Technology evolves way too fast.

DigiTimes Reporting That Acer Will Use LG's Shuriken Display In Upcoming Notebook

Labels: , , ,

Coming from DigiTimes is word that Acer will be using LG's new display, "Shuriken", in their latest ultraportable notebook. This new display will find a home in an Acer notebook which will sport a small 8mm bezel and a body of a 13.3-inch notebook but with a 14.1-inch display. I can't see this one being a cheap notebook but let's hope that it's a powerhouse with a lot of battery life. This notebook could be officially announced sometime next month so we'll just have to wait around for it.

7-Inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 Tablet With "Honeycomb" Launching In Late April / May

Labels: , , , , ,

Digitimes is reporting that Acer has another tablet in the works and should be launching in late April or May. It's the 7-inch Iconia Tab A100 tablet which we've heard about before. Said tablet will sport a Tegra 2 CPU along with the Android "Honeycomb" OS which is pretty impressive considering it'll be priced lower than the A500 model. We've already seen a few prices for this tablet at €349 and £299 which isn't bad. This model is intended for the female demographic since it'll be easier for them to carry around.

They didn't say much but they did mention that "HTC plans to launch two Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Flyer models in mid-2011." This was coming from a couple of sources and we're definitely excited for what HTC has on the way. Hopefully, they have a slew of different size models like Samsung has.

DigiTimes Reports That Motorola Only Producing XOOM Until June, Hinting At Refresh

Labels: , , , , , ,

A new report coming from DigiTimes has just mentioned something that's quite interesting. Apparently, Motorola is only ordering XOOM tablets until June of this year. Now, this doesn't really tell us much but actually does hint that Motorola could have something better up their sleeve for Q3 of this year. They actually could be unveiling the next XOOM in the middle of this year and maybe it'll be running an improved version of the Android tablet OS. Interesting.

Asus Aiming To Launch a $200 - $250 Android / Chrome OS Netbook

Labels: , , , , , ,

DigiTimes has just mentioned something pretty cool that's apparently coming from a supplier's mouth. The report says that Asus is looking to really undercut the netbooks that we're used to seeing right now. Apparently, the company plans to launch a $200 to $250 netbook running on Google's Android or, hopefully, Chrome OS. The notebook will reportedly be a 10 or 11-inch model and will be free subsidized on a carrier if you wan to sign a 6-month contract. Hmm, this might be something I'm interested in if it's a $200 netbook running Chrome OS.

Wintek Supplying Apple With White iPhone 5 Parts?

Labels: , , , ,

Coming from DigiTimes is a rumour about a white iPhone 5 launching - even though the white iPhone 4 has been heavily delayed and still isn't available. Interesting. Apparently, Wintek is supplying Apple white iPhone 5 touch panels . Well, there's really no way to confirm this until Apple announces the next iPhone which should be in June. Maybe they should focus on releasing the white iPhone 4 for now.

HP Touchpad Could Actually Be Ready and Shipping In April

Labels: , , , , ,

At HP's press conference which was earlier this month we heard that the webOS-based Touchpad tablet would be available in the Summer but DigiTimes is reporting that it could actually launch earlier than expected. Reportedly, the tablet could actually ship in late March or early April if things work out. To recap: the Touchpad features a 9.7-inch display with a 1,024 x 768 resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm CPU, 512MB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and webOS 3.0. The WiFi-only version could be the first one available with 3G and even 4G models launching later.

Apple's Next iPhone To Have a 4-Inch Display?

Labels: , , ,

Apple rumours go crazy this time of year. Just these past few days we've heard of Apple testing three next-gen iPhone prototypes including one with a QWERTY keyboard (that'll probably never get released) and we also heard that the company is working on a smaller iPhone - with iPhone 4 parts - that'll reportedly cost $200 contract-free which would be amazing. Today we're hearing something new from DigiTimes which also sounds great.

The firm has mentioned that Apple's next iPhone may actually feature a larger (and much better) 4-inch display. So much for 3.5-inches being the perfect size. They're likely doing this to stunt the growth of larger and higher-end Android devices because I believe that 4-inch displays are the perfect size for smartphones right now. Well, we'll see if this ever happens.

Three HTC Tablets By June, First One Dubbed the "Flyer" and Shipping With Android 2.3?

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Coming from DigiTimes is word that HTC is gearing up to release at least three tablets this year. The first one will reportedly be called the "Flyer" and will be sporting just Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" (reportedly upgradeable to "Honeycomb" whenever it's available) so that's quite a let down since the Motorola XOOM with "Honeycomb" will be available soon. Apparently, the HTC Flyer will be available in March so maybe we'll be seeing it announced at MWC. It's okay though, because the firm has also mentioned that HTC will have two more tablets ready for this June and will be shipping with Android 3.0 "Honeycomb". Sounds good.

First Pictures and Details Of HP Palm's 7 and 9-inch WebOS Tablets Leak!

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Engdaget has just picked up some amazing exclusive information regarding HP / Palm. What you see above is a render of what a future HP / Palm webOS-based tablet. The companies are actually working on two models: the 7-inch "Opal" and a larger 9-inch "Topaz" which we've heard of before. Judging from the renders, you can tell that there's a front-facing camera, no buttons (likely because of multitouch gestures), a microUSB port, and three speakers.

The website is hearing that units will start hitting Palm HQ in June of this year and production for launch won't start until later this year. Apparently, the WiFi-only, AT&T 3G, and Verizon LTE models of the 7-inch "Opal" will be available in September 2011, while the AT&T LTE model won't be available until July 2012 which is so far away from now. Fortunately, they're hearing that the 9-inch "Topaz" may actually be available sooner than the Opal so maybe we'll be seeing a Summer 2011 launch for it. Inside you should find a 1.2GHz CPU in both of them. I just can't wait until February 9th.

Update: Coming from DigiTimes via Engadget, is word that Inventec is planning to ship an HP Palm tablet to the market in March of this year. Of course, this would mean that the "Topaz" is almost ready so let's just wait for them to announce it on February 9th. Could the first webOS-based tablet be in our hands in about 6 weeks? Man, I hope this is true.

Update: Another post coming from Engadget has just mentioned even more bits of information! Apparently, both of these tablets that HP / Palm will be bringing to the market will have access to 10GB of cloud storage, Beats audio, Tap-to-Share smartphone integration, Flash support, and it'll be capable of charging wirelessly with a Touchstone dock. Palm is also said to be working on a few more handsets, but they're reportedly "nothing too amazing" right now so let's hope that changes in the near future with a new flagship webOS smartphone.

RIM Prepping 1 Million BlackBerry Playbooks For Q1?

Labels: , , , , ,

Coming from DigiTimes is word that RIM is preparing 1 million units of the BlackBerry PlayBook. This is going to be made by Quanta, the same company making about 800,000 Motorola Xoom tablets for the same quarter. Obviously, RIM is being more optimistic by making 200,000 more units than Motorola but we'll just have to see how the sales go. I'm pretty sure that the PlayBook will reign supreme in Canada though since the Android adoption up here isn't as fast as in the US.

Motorola Shipping 800,000 Xoom Tablets For Q1?

Labels: , , , , ,

Digitimes has just mentioned something quite significant about Motorola. Apparently, the company plans to ship 800,000 Motorola Xoom tablets in Q1 alone which is an impressive amount. Hopefully, the price is right but I'm pretty confident that Motorola will be able to sell out of these impressive "Honecyomb" based tablets. This tablet will reportedly be available in four different colours and should be launching in the next few months with a WiFi-only model expected as well.
