Floyd Mayweather Jr. Comes Out Of Retirement!!!

Labels: , , , ,

That is the most recent news about the boxing world. I thought it would be fit to talk about this since on my way home from church I actually talked about the possibility of a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight. Anyways, Mayweather is set to fight Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18. This news is currently sparking other rumours that he wants to fight the winner of tonight's Pacquiao - Hatton fight.

This is extremely exciting news because Mayweather is / was the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He is the boxer who gave Hatton his first and only loss. Pacquiao, on the other hand, has fought Marquez twice. The first fight was a draw (on May 8, 2004) and the second fight was won by Manny (on March 15, 2008). With this new news, I feel that a Mayweather - Pacquiao fight would be amazing. It would clearly settle who the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world currently is - in boxing, that is. Before that possible dream fight of mine happens, Manny will have to defeat Hatton tonight. I can't wait.

Boxing: Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton Tonight!!

Labels: , ,

Yes, tonight is the night! May 2, 2009 and it's the 'War of the Worlds.' The main event will be Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton.

I'm no boxing expert, but I do have my opinions for this fight. Ricky Hatton definitely wins record-wise (Hatton: 45-1-0 and Pacquiao: 48-3-2). I feel that Pacquiao does have the 'real' advantage though. I think he's faster and more experienced - although not by much. He also has the reach advantage and he's been on fire lately. The last fight he lost was in 2005 to Erik Morales and it was because of a headbutt that busted him open - inadvertent headbutt or not. If that fight is ruled out then Pacquiao's last loss was 10 years ago, in 1999. Hatton, on the other hand, lost just 2 years ago, but it was to Mayweather who remains to be undefeated. I feel that Hatton is fast, but Pacquiao looks like he is just a bit faster. Who has more power though? That is something that I do not know. Either way, it looks to be a great fight and I hope that it's not as one sided as the Pacqiao - De La Hoya contest. I'm excited for these 2 to clash in that ring tonight.

That said, I'm going to say Manny Pacquiao in 9 rounds, via TKO.

The 11.6-inch Acer Aspire One that we heard about earlier last month has now gotten a release date and a price. HTC Touch Pro 2 and Snap Coming To Canada; Thank You Telus!

Labels: , , , ,

Yes, USA is getting the HTC Touch Pro 2, since it has already been shown off multiple times that it has been seen branded with T-Mobile. But, let's head over to my country, Canada which usually doesn't get this lucky A Telus employee took a snapshot of this photo, which shows us that the HTC Touch Pro 2 World Edition (above) and HTC Snap World Edition (below) will be hitting their shelves!! The picture you see here is Telus' inventory system, so this guy must have been pretty sneaky.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is, I think, the more exciting handset. It has: a Qualcomm 7200A processor which runs at 528MHz (take that N97), 512MB of ROM, 288MB of RAM, a 3.6-inch resistive touchscreen with an 800 x 480 resolution, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and A2DP, WiFi, a 3.2MP camera, and a microSD card slot. Don't forget that both the Touch Pro 2 and the Snap will have dual-band GSM, since they will be World Edition handsets. The Touch Pro 2 does run on WinMo 6.1, but I'm pretty sure it will be upgradeable to 6.5 when it gets released, hence the Windows 'Start' button.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 could've been in contention for my favourite handset to date, but the resistive touchscreen and the camera are both turn-offs. On a side note, it's also running Windows Mobile, so I'll have to see how good WinMo 6.5 is before I can judge it.

Update: On July 5th new news popped up about the availability of the HTC Touch Pro 2. The Touch Pro 2 will be available on July 21st on Telus.

BlackBerry Apex and Niagara / Tour To Be Announced Next Week

Labels: , , , ,

At this year's Wireless Enterprise Symposium next week, RIM could be officially announcing the BlackBerry Niagara to the world. The Niagara / Tour is just about the best BlackBerry to ever hit the market, being a 3G world phone - while looking incredibly sexy. It'll be available on Verizon Wireless this Summer, so I'd suggest you don't get a new BlackBerry just yet. The other phone RIM could announce is the Apex, which could be similar to a Pearl Flip. It'll be decent, but the main attraction will definitely be the Niagara. Just look at that thing.

Leaked BlackBerry Curve 8520 Pictures!!

Labels: , , , ,

This BlackBerry codenamed "Gemini" has been confusing us for a while now. First, the Gemini was seen to be the BlackBerry 9300. Afterwards, we saw the BlackBerry 8325 which was also dubbed the Gemini name, but apparently that was an early prototype of the real model. Well, luckily RIM has changed the face of the Blackberry 8325 because they've come up with this slightly better looking smartphone. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 aka Gemini will have: an optical trackball, dedicated media buttons, and also a rubberized finish around the battery cover. The sad thing is that this BlackBerry will be lacking 3G and that could be heart-breaking for some users out there. The spec sheet has still not been revealed, but it's not camera-less. You can take a look at the link below, to see a couple more pictures about the BlackBerry Curve 8520 "Gemini" smartphone from RIM.

Palm Eos Does Not Dethrone The E71; Could Be Coming To Sprint As Well

Labels: , , ,

So, 2 days ago, I talked about how the Palm Eos would be Palm's next WebOS phone. Well, it looks like it isn't dethroning the Nokia E71 as the thinnest QWERTY keyboard, seeing how the Eos is 10.6mm and the E71 is 10mm. On a side note, the Palm Eos could also see a Sprint release after it is released onto AT&T. This has apparently already been "confirmed," according to "sources within Sprint." We'll see what happens shortly because it is expected to be released in Q3 2009.
