Sprint To Cut Palm Pre Price To $150 Soon?

Labels: , , ,

It looks like Sprint's Palm Pre could be getting a price drop to $149 on a 2-year contract soon, which is great news for those consumers looking to dive into that handset. This document leak above was apparently from someone working at Sprint. Since the HTC Hero is set to hit Sprint next month, I wouldn't be surprised that their old flagship model would get a price drop to make way for their new flagship phone.

Asus Launching World's Cheapest E-Book Reader This Year -- Possibly With Coloured Touchscreen and Webcam

Labels: ,

Just two weeks ago we heard that Asus is planning to release their own e-book reader. According to Times Online, they got their hands on Asus' e-book reader and they went on to mention that it should be available by the end of the year. This Asus e-book reader is supposedly going to be the cheapest of its kind when it gets released, but there will be a higher-end model that will have things like built-in 3G, a web browser, and expandable storage.

This makes me think that the basic model will just have standard reading features. The basic model is expected to launch this year for just £100 ($163 USD).

Update on September 8th: According to the latest rumour, Crunch Gear states that Asus' e-book reader could be sporting dual-touchscreens that will be coloured. This e-book reader is supposedly going to have a webcam as well. About being the "world's cheapest" e-book reader to date... Maybe the displays with colours will only be on the premium models.

HTC Touch HD2 To Run Android, 100MHz Faster CPU With Same 3.8-Inch Display

Labels: , , , ,

According to the latest big rumour, HTC is looking to release the Touch HD2 and instead of WinMo, it'll have Google's Android OS. The original Touch HD had a 528MHz CPU, but this new Touch HD2 is expected to have a CPU that's 100MHz faster than the original model - so that means possibly a 628MHz CPU. According to the rumours, everything else will likely be the same. So, we should be expecting a 5MP camera and a 3.8-inch touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution. I suppose the touchscreen could be capacitive since no Android devices to date have had a resistive touchscreen.

The price and release date details haven't been announced yet since the phone itself is still unconfirmed.

Nokia 12.1MP Cameraphone Spotted on Flickr -- Confirmed to be Fake

Take a look at the photo here.

Update: Unfortunately, this photo is indeed a fake.

3D Coming to the PS3 In 2010, *Possibly* All Existing Games Too

Labels: , , , ,

Even though we could see 3D games on the PlayStation 3 in the future, they have no plans to launch the functionality for all of the games that come out - unless they can do that sort of thing. Sony will reportedly be updating the PS3's software to give the 3D look to existing games - if it's possible. Keep in mind that this 3D functionality won't work unless you have a TV with 200Hz technology and those funky 3D glasses. So, most of us (me included) might have to wait until 2011 to enjoy PS3 games in 3D.

Samsung Looking To Ship Out OLED-Equipped Notebooks in the Second Half of 2010

Labels: , , , ,

I'll just get right down to it. At IFA, Samsung stated that OLED-equipped notebooks could become a reality as early as the second half of next year (2010). "The netbook car drives at 100km/h, some of our competitors drive at 150km/h. The target for [us is] 200km/h." That's really all they've said right now. For now, you can enjoy their proof of concept above, which looks pretty neat - although that keyboard could take some getting used to.

Sprint Rebate Form Shows Samsung Intrepid (Ace II) and Samsung Moment

Labels: , , , ,

A new Sprint rebate form that is in effect until October 31st has leaked online and it states that the Samsung Intrepid and Samsung Moment will be coming soon. The Samsung Intrepid is actually the Ace II, so I believe it will have a full QWERTY keypad. The Intrepid and the Moment will both have $100 mail-in rebates attached to them.

If the rumoured specs are true, the Intrepid will have: a 2.6-inch QVGA display, a 528MHz CPU, a 3MP camera, WiFi / aGPS support, a microSDHC card slot, and CDMA / EV-DO Rev. A / GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity. The Intrepid seems to be a Windows Mobile 6.5 handset, so we'll see it sometime after October 6th. On the other hand, we know nothing about the Samsung Moment right now.

LG BL20 Slider Revealed; LG BL40 Hitting Europe This Month, October For the Rest of the World -- Possibly Telus

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

At IFA, LG finally came clean about the LG BL20. The LG BL20 has actually been seen before as the LG BL42, so it should look quite familiar. The BL20 is a slider handset that has: a 2.4-inch QVGA non-touchscreen display, 130MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, a 5MP AF camera, quad-band GSM / HSDPA connectivity, Stereo Bluetooth, an FM radio, and 3G support.

LG also announced something about their better handset, the BL40. This handset will be available in Europe starting in the middle of this month; the rest of the world will get their hands on this device next month (October) so we won't have to wait that long. In case you forgot, this handset has: a 4-inch touchscreen display with an 800 x 345 resolution, a 5MP camera with an LED flash that can record video, 1.1GB of internal memory, a microSDHC card slot, and WiFi / aGPS support.

Since it's coming to the rest of the world this October, Mobile Syrup is hoping that it will be hitting Telus as well - y'know since they'll have their HSPA network by then. For the full spec sheet of the LG BL40, take a look at this Tech Tree link.
