Labels: , , , ,

Well, well, well. Of course, Japan is getting what you see above first. Sony is going to be releasing a white model of their PS3 Slim on July 29th. These new PS3's will come in 160GB and 320GB models which will cost you ¥29,980 ($342 USD) and ¥34,980 ($400 USD). In the box you'll also be getting a sexy white DualShock 3 controller along with a vertical stand. Hopefully, these hit the rest of the world - including Europe and North America.

North America To Get Gran Turismo 5 In Summer 2010... Hopefully

Labels: , , , , , ,

There's not much to say here but Polyphony Digital and Sony are aiming for a March release date for Gran Turismo 5 in Japan. The more important news though is that North America could be getting the game as early as Summer 2010. This game has been in production for over 3 years, but they are willing to take their sweet time.

Labels: , , , , ,

Who doesn't love a little bit of gold in their life. Nokia has just finished announcing their Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition, which is exactly what the name implies. It's the 6700 Classic "hand-cut and polished [from] solid [18-carat] gold." This handset will be available in Q1 2010 for €370 ($550 USD).

Not to be out done is a 24-carat PS3 Slim. This PS3 will come with 2 24-carat controllers and a 1-year warrant for your system. If you want to get one you can scoop one up for the bank-breaking price of $5,000. Just when you thought the PS3 had a price drop Computer Choppers just had to announce this.

If you purchase one of these you'll also be able to customize the logo (if you want) with: chrome, black chrome, 24k gold, white gold, rose gold, and even platinum. If you want to step it up a notch - and spend more money in the process - you can put some diamonds on it to make it shine even more. If you're really interested you better act fast because these will be in limited quantities.

PS3 Support Could Be Integrated In the XPERIA X10, Could Find Its Way In More Of Their Phones

Labels: , , , , ,

Sony Ericsson has, basically, just hinted at a "PS3 app" for the XPERIA X10. But, they won't stop there. According to them, they could actually implement PS3 support into a couple of their future handsets as well. This means that it could be integrated into their high-end handsets, maybe ones sporting their Nexus skin.

Just a day after Xbox 360 rolled out their social integration, Sony is doing the same thing to their PS3's today. PlayStation 3 owners will be getting firmware 3.10 today, which will bring in Facebook integration. It'll be available later today, I'll update this post when it goes live.

  • The [Friends] list has been redesigned.
  • The user is now able to change the color of their [Profile].

Sony PS3's Getting Firefox Support?

Labels: , , , ,

Since the new PS3 Slims don't have Linux support there has been a new rumour in the clouds. This time it's regarding the PlayStation 3 gaining support for Firefox as a browser. Earlier this year we heard talks of Chrome coming to the PS3, which wouldn't be too far-fetched since Sony's Vaio PCs have Chrome pre-installed. We'll just have to see what happens.

Facebook Support Confirmed To Be Coming To the PS3!

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like Facebook support will really be coming to the PS3, since an "inside source" has just confirmed that the screenshots were, in fact, real. The only thing we don't know is exactly when it will be live. We'll just have to be patient for that information.

Sony Planning To Integrate Facebook Into PS3's In a Firmware Update?

Labels: , , , ,

Today we're hearing that Sony could be planning to integrate Facebook in one of their future firmware updates - it's still a rumour. I guess this is a move that wouldn't really "hurt" anyone, but I know some people won't use the service. I think it's definitely a good addition - and I believe we'll see Twitter integration later as well. Yes, Sony likely did this because the Xbox 360 did it. Although it's just a rumour, I think it's likely true.

Update: The middle photo appears to be a new grid photo layout and the right photo appears to signal off that you'll be able to change the colour of your online gamecard. Don't forget about those important updates as well. If the rumours are true, these will all be included in the next big firmware update - possibly even by the end of this month.

Netflix Headed To the PS3 Starting This November, $8.99 Monthly

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like PlayStation 3 owners will be watching a lot of movies in the near future. The rumour turned out to be true so it looks like Netflix will be coming to the PS3 next month (November). Like Xbox 360 owners, PS3 users will be able to watch as many movies as they want 24/7 for $8.99 a month. Of course, all you'll need is a Netflix account.

According to the official announcement, which confirms speculation that Netflix streaming would come to a console that isn't the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 owners will be initially required to have a free, Netflix-provided Blu-ray disc in the console to watch said movies, taking advantage of Blu-ray's BD-Live tech.
(You can quickly request one at netflix.com/ps3, PlayStation 3 owner.)
Later, we should probably expect Sony and Netflix to offer a firmware update or application that will do the work of the Blu-ray disc. Looks like the PS3 implementation of Netflix will be similar to the Xbox 360 version, letting users browse and update their "Watch Instantly" queues from the XMB.
More details on the good news is available at the PlayStation.blog.

Resistance 3 Billboard Spotted On Movie Set, Signals 2011 Release

Labels: , , , ,

It looks a new billboard has just been spotted that clearly says Resistance 3, but isn't it a bit too early for a number 3? Well, that's because this photo is actually taken off of a movie set which is scheduled to be released in February 2011 by Sony's own Columbia Pictures - for the movie Battle: Los Angeles. Looks like you'll have to wait until early to mid 2011 for Resistance 3. As you can tell in the "A" there's a picture of the Statue of Liberty, so the game could be taking place in New York.
