Next-Gen Nintendo DS and Sony PSP 2 Rumours

Labels: , , , , , ,

We heard rumours of a next-generation Nintendo DS with Nvidia's Tegra 2 graphics. Apparently, the next DS will be pretty damn powerful sporting a new ARM11 CPU. All of these are just rumours so take it with a grain of salt. We do know that the Tegra 2 will be in production next year so we could see a next-gen DS late next year. This next-gen DS could be a huge boost for Nintendo because we're hearing that it could be as fast as the Wii, but it'll support "more visual effects."

Along with this rumour is another one, this time regarding the next-generation PSP, supposedly the PSP 2. Apparently, the next-gen PSP will feature a Quad-Core PowerVR SGX543 CPU which will be faster than the next Tegra and has enough performance to out muscle the original Xbox. Unfortunately, the rumour also states that this chip won't be in production until around 2011.

Verizon-Bound Saygus VPhone V1 To Be America's First Handset To Support Two-Way Video Calling

Labels: , , , , ,

If you don't remember, this Saygus VPhone V1 will be Verizon's third Android handset. It may look like a Motorola DROID fake from China, but it's actually pretty impressive. Considering the fact that it's from a not-so-known company and it will be the first handset in America to support two-way video calling. I'd say that's a pretty good start for this small company. Other specs are on par with what we love too, that's: a 3.5-inch capacitive toucshcreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP camera, an FM radio, a 624MHz Marvell PXA310 CPU, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, a microSD card slot, and WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth support. Unfortunately, no 3.5mm headphone jack.

The price and release date haven't been mentioned yet, but I'd like this to hit somewhere in North America.

17-Inch Lenovo ThinkPad W701 Passes the FCC, Possibly Sporting Core i7 CPU

Labels: , , , , ,

What's with the Lenovo leaks lately? It's all good though. Spotted at the FCC was this notebook, the ThinkPad W701. This would be more suitable as a desktop replacement since it'll have a large 17-inch display (made by Samsung) with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution. Other specs include an Intel 2GHz CPU and a 320GB HDD. The most interesting part about all of this is that the Intel 2GHz CPU could be the Quad-Core Core i7-920XM, since that clocks in at 2GHz by default. Check out the FCC filing here.
