Motorola Announces the XT300 As the Spice, Portrait Keyboard and Android 2.1

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Motorola has announced another handset and this is their fifth handset of the day or something like that. What you see above is the Motorola Spice (XT300) and this was just announced at CTIA. This handset is sporting a 3.2-inch QVGA touchscreen display, a slide-up portrait QWERTY keyboard, a 528MHz CPU, a 3.2MP camera, a trackpad on the back, and Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR. Right now we don't know which carriers will be getting this one but it's definitely a good fit for the many mid-end Motorola Android phones out there. Talk about variety from the Motorola camp.

Verizon Announces the Android-Based Motorola DROID Pro and the (WX445) Citrus

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Verizon has just announced that they'll be launching two more Android phones from Motorola. The first one is above and it looks kind of awkward, it's the DROID Pro. This is definitely a bit different from what we were expecting (which was simply just a DROID 2 with global connectivity), but it does sport Android 2.2 along with global roaming capabilities and the QWERTY keyboard.

Update: According to Engadget, the DROID Pro sports a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz CPU, and dual-mode CDMA / GSM connectivity. This smartphone will be available in the first week of November - I know that's what you wanted to here. Price is still unknown.

The other smartphone they announced is the WX445 and it will officially be called the Citrus - which I thought would just be a codename. This smartphone sports a touchscreen display and Android 2.1 with the MOTOBLUR UI. The full spec sheet for either phone hasn't been mentioned yet but it should be soon.

Motorola, Asus, and HTC Reportedly Ordering Tegra 2 Chipsets For Tablets

Labels: , , , , , ,

At this point we already know that Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip should be hitting tablets and smartphones in the future but DigiTimes has just reignited that flame. They are saying that Motorola, Asus, and HTC have ordered some Tegra 2 chipsets and have mentioned that Motorola plans to use it in a smartphone while Asus and HTC plan to use it in their upcoming tablets. Other details are still unknown but you can count on these making an impact in the near future - or next year since HTC's tablet is still expected to launch in Q1 2011.

Two Windows Phone 7 HTC Smartphones Hit the FCC

Labels: , , , , , ,

There's really not much left to tell you here that the title doesn't already say. Two WP7 smartphones from HTC have just hit the FCC but nothing else has been mentioned. Not a name, no specs, and certainly no images. The only thing that we know right now is that one device sports WCDMA Band IV, which is good for T-Mobile, and the other device sports WCDMA V, which is good for AT&T. We've probably seen them surface before so don't expect anything out of the blue.

The user guide for the upcoming Samsung Transform has just leaked out and we already know that it's headed to Sprint. The Transform itself sports WiFi / Bluetooth support, a 3MP camera, a microSD card slot, a touchscreen display, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Nothing else is revealed so prices and release dates are still being kept a secret.

AT&T Announces That They're Launching the Motorola Flipout, Bravo, and Flipside Soon

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Well, well, well, yes, that's three "well's" for ya. That's because AT&T has just announced that they'll be launching, you guessed it, three Android-based smartphones from Motorola in the future (before the end of the year). The first one we know about already and it's the Flipout which has been available in Canada via Rogers for a while now. The Flipout features a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 3.1MP camera, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.1 with the Blur UI. Next up is the Motorola Bravo (pictured above on the right) which sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen WVGA display, an 800MHz CPU, a 3MP camera, and DLNA support. You may notice this handset looks familiar that's because it was spotted on the Chicago bus last week by someone from Android Guys - I'm also pretty sure this is the MB520 Kobe / Diablo. Last, but not least, there's the Motorola Flipside (above on the left). This one features a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a trackpad, and GPS support. This one should also look familiar because it has also surfaced before as the MB508 (Sage).

The Flipout will be available starting on October 17th for $79.99 on a 2-year contract while the Bravo and the Flipside will be available for the holiday season for $129.99 and $99.99, respectively, on a 2-year contract.

Motorola MT716 OPhone Gets Official In China, DROID Face With the Cliq Keyboard

Labels: , , , ,

Motorola has launched yet another one of their Android-based handsets in China. Dubbed the MT716 OPhone, this smartphone sports the Motorola DROID face with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which you'll find on the company's Cliq - according to Engadget. That makes for a pretty interesting mix, but I think they should have opted for the DROID 2 one since it is a bit better (I think so, at least). Anyways, this smartphone features a 3.7-inch touchscreen display with a 480 x 854 resolution, an 8MP camera with a dual-LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a TI OMAP3430 600MHz CPU, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.1 support, a VGA front-facing camera, TD-SCDMA connectivity, WAPI (WiFi in China) support, and a TV tuner. It looks a bit weird but you can pick one up if you're interested.

An Israeli newspaper, Ynet, h6as just mentioned that Asus is going to be releasing a tablet dubbed the EP90. This tablet will reportedly feature an 8.9-inch touchscreen display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a dual-core Nvidia Tegra CPU, 16GB / 32GB of internal storage, an HDMI output, Bluetooth 2.1 / GPS, a 0.3MP webcam, and a 4-6 hour battery life. Specs seem pretty good and it's being said that this tablet will be running Microsoft's Office suite so that could mean that it will be running Windows. Of course, the release details and price haven't been mentioned so we'll have to wait around for those important pieces of information.

T-Mobile Makes a Page For the Motorola Defy, Launching Sooner Than Expected?

Labels: , , , , , ,

T-Mobile should be getting a new Android smartphone soon and it'll be coming from Motorola. The rugged Defy should be available soon sporting a 3.7-inch WVGA Gorilla Glass display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, and the Blur UI. When this smartphone was announced we heard that it'll be available before the holiday season so I was assuming a November launch - maybe that's not the case anymore. It's not available yet but you can check it out on T-Mobile for the time being.

Lenovo Updates Their T410, T410s, and T510 Notebooks With Nvidia Optimus Tech

Labels: , , , , ,

Lenovo has just updated a couple of their notebooks and it's great news for everyone! The T410, T410s, and T510 notebooks are now available with Nvidia Optimus technology and NVS 3100M GPUs are inside. Since the Optimus will turn off the discrete graphics when you aren't using it you should be able to get about an hour of extra battery life. Other specs remain the same so you still get Intel Core i5 / i7 CPU options (with optional 3G / WiMAX options), which is still good for another couple of months - until CES 2011 rolls around. The T410 and the T510 are available right now for $1,299, while the T410s is going for $1,849.

ZTE Working On 1.3GHz CPU-Packing Android Smartphones For Verizon?

Labels: , , , , ,

Exclusive information coming from Boy Genius has just mentioned that ZTE is going to be making some high-end Android phones in the future. These smartphones will reportedly be hitting Verizon with 1.3GHz CPUs along with other high-end features I suppose. So far ZTE's handsets have mid mediocre and mid-end at best so it'll be interesting to see how these turn out. The image above is of the ZTE Blade aka the San Francisco which is one of their better handsets.
