The Desire is going for free on a £25 monthly contract while the Wildfire is going for free on a £20 monthly contract. HTC Officially Announces the White Desire and the Black Legend, Froyo With Sense Pre-Installed

Labels: , , , , , ,

HTC has just announced that they're going to have two new Android-based handsets available, but they're not entirely new. We've seen the white HTC Desire already so that shouldn't be too surprising. The handset that caught me off guard here is the black HTC Legend which looks sexy - especially with the aluminum unibody. Specs stay the exact same as the old ones except both of these models come with Android 2.2 pre-installed along with the Sense UI which is great news if you've held off on buying one.

US Cellular has just announced another Android smartphone that they'll be getting. On August 27th, the carrier will be releasing the HTC Desire which should be sporting Sony's 3.7-inch Super LCD displays. Specs are already known and have been for just about the whole year since it's the exact same as the Nexus One's except for the design change and the Sense UI. It's only about two weeks away - price wasn't mentioned.

Telus Launching the HTC Desire Tomorrow (August 6th)!!

Labels: , , , , , ,

Okay, so it didn't launch earlier this week but Telus has just confirmed that they're going to be launching the HTC Desire tomorrow (3.7-inch Super LCD and all). The official pricing hasn't been mentioned but we've been hearing that it'll be $79.99 on a 3-year contract and $449.99 contract-free. Other specs include a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 5MP camera, WiFi support, and Android 2.1 with the Sense UI. Sweet news for us Canadians! Launching tomorrow it will go head to head with Bell's Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant.

Telus Looking To Launch the HTC Desire On August 3rd?

Labels: , , , , , ,

It's unconfirmed right now but Telus could be planning to launch the Android-based HTC Desire on August 3rd. This is just 5 days away and will likely cost you $79.99 on a 3-year contract. The contract-free price is said to be around $450 so that's a pretty sweet deal if it's true. These are all rumours right now so we'll just have to wait.

Walmart To Sell the HTC Desire For $448.83 Contract-Free?

Labels: , , , , , ,

Okay, so we already know that the HTC Desire will be hitting Telus in Canada but the pricing still hasn't been made official. We heard that it will cost $79.99 on a 3-year contract, which is definitely great news but how about the contract-free price? Well, this new leak from Walmart shows that the Desire will be available from them for $448.83 contract-free. This means that Telus may actually have it available for $449 contract-free - since Walmart likes to take a bit off the actual price.

HTC Desire Dummy Units Start Invading Telus Locations Across Canada

Labels: , , , , , ,

Telus looks like they're just about ready to release the HTC Desire. At a couple of Telus locations they've gotten their HTC Desire dummy unit, so this is signalling that the launch is very near. It could even be tomorrow - or well, within the week.

Telus To Release the HTC Desire For $79.99 On a 3-Year Contract

Labels: , , , , , ,

So much for that Telus source code price tag because there's a new inventory leak today. Apparently, Telus plans to release the HTC Desire for just $79.99 on a 3-year contract, which is an amazing deal. The Desire sports a 3.7-inch Sony Super LCD display, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 5MP AF camera, and Android 2.1 with the Sense UI. Mobile Syrup is also hearing that the Desire will be available for $449.99 contract-free.

Telus Accidentally Leaks HTC Desire's Prices In their Source Code?

Labels: , , , , , ,

In Telus' own source code, they may have just tipped off what the pricing for their upcoming HTC Desire will be. Apparently, the smartphone will be hitting the carrier for $299.95 on a 3-year contract, $399.95 on a 2-year contract, and $499.95 on a 1-year contract. Of course, these price could be a bit off seeing how Telus' prices don't end with .95 and they seem a bit high. I'm going to assume that if these price stick that it'll be available for $199.99 on a 3-year contract after rebates.

Telus Announces That the HTC Desire (With Sony's Super LCD Display) Is Coming Soon!

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Well, it took Telus long enough! The Canadian carrier has just announced that the HTC Desire will be coming soon! This is great news, but it's sad to hear that it'll be launching with Android 2.1. Thankfully, they did mention that it will be upgraded to version 2.2 sometime after launch - whenever that is. The Desire will be the best Android-based smartphone that Telus will have. The smartphone features a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera, a microSD card slot, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and anything else you should see in a smartphone - including access to the Android Market which is nearing the 100,000 app mark.

Update: Electronista has just pointed out that the HTC Desire is now up (still not to buy) on Telus' website. Sadly, the display won't be AMOLED. Because of the shortages, the Desire in Canada will have a Sony Super LCD display. Sad times.

Labels: , , , , , ,

Great news for Canadian Android lovers! Telus' employees have just started their training for the HTC Desire! This seems to be perfect timing considering that it was just spotted at the FCC yesterday with NAM 3G. Although I won't be picking up this handset I'm definitely excited for it, I'm looking to scoop up an unlocked one though.

It looks like something quite desirable has just hit the FCC (filing here) and it's the HTC Desire. It's got the model number PB99220 along with North American 3G. We already know that Canada will likely get this smartphone, thanks to Telus, and now we're just going to have to wait until it gets official.

This morning HTC announced that their Desire smartphone would be hitting select regional operators and a carrier in the US has already announced it. HTC Desire To Get Android 2.2 "Froyo" Sometime In August?

Labels: , , , ,

Not much to say here that the title doesn't already tell you. The HTC Desire is rumoured to be getting the Android 2.2 "Froyo" upgrade sometime in August. Yes, it's a bit longer wait than the rumoured June 23 date but I'm sure someone is bound to port 2.2 on the Desire before August.

Telus To Call the HTC Triumph What It Should Be Called - the Desire

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Over the past couple of months we've been hearing that Canada would be getting the HTC Desire as the Triumph - thanks to Telus. According to the latest leak, they may just be launching it as the plain old Desire - because, really, what's the point of the name change? Nothing's confirmed right now, so we'll really just have to wait. This handset will come with Android 2.1 pre-loaded, with a likely upgrade to 2.2 "Froyo" in a couple of weeks / months.

Telus Unveiling Something On June 8th, Hopefully the HTC Triumph

Labels: , , , ,

Canada's Telus is going to be unveiling something on June 8th and everyone's hoping that it's the HTC Triumph because what else could it really be? When was the last time HTC used a countdown to unveil something? This definitely has to big something big, right? Thankfully, it's just under 2 weeks away and they'll answer all of the questions - except for the rhetorical one.

HTC Desire To Get Android 2.2 "Froyo" As Early As June 23rd?

Labels: , , , , ,

Apparently, the Froyo roll-out is definitely coming faster than expected (at least, I think so). There's a rumour going around that states that the HTC Desire could be getting an update to Android 2.2 in the near future - just about a month away - on June 23rd. This is a great thing because Google has already released Froyo to Nexus One devices so it's really up to HTC to put their Sense UI over top of it. Maybe Google is really looking to get rid of fragmentation after all.
