According to the Wall Street Journal Palm's working on a new webOS-based. Apparently, they'll be GSM variants of the Pre and Pixi but they'll have to make the displays larger on them since Palm's stocks are continuing to plummet right now. LG's Windows Phone 7 Prototype Handset Makes Its Debut On the Engadget Show!

Labels: , ,

Whatever it is, this is a prototype for LG's first Windows Phone 7 handset. It's clearly rocking a touchscreen display along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. To be honest, the screen looks a little on the small side - I wish it were 3.7-inches like the DROID. All that aside it's only slightly thicker than the latest iPhone and there's a dedicated camera, volume, and power button on this thing. On the back there's a 5MP camera with a flash and there's a 3.5mm headphone jack somewhere on there. In case you're wondering, this handset made its first appearance on the Engadget Show yesterday. There's one thing this handset is not - the Apollo.

Update on March 3rd: According to WMPowerUser, this handset is codenamed the LG Panther.

Nokia Hints At Announcing C Series Phones at CeBIT

Labels: , , ,

Nokia had an event near MWC but they announced just about nothing. Now we're hearing that they're going to announce their new C-Series of phones at CeBIT 2010 in the next week - C5 pictured above. Just in case you don't believe me, here's a newsletter hinting at it below.

C you at CeBIT
This year’s CeBIT 2010 event swings open its doors on Tuesday morning in Hannover, Germany. The show runs from 2-6 March, so scribble it in your diary as we’ll be reporting from the frontline. Before Mobile World Congress there was a ton of rumours about potential new devices and even a new Cseries range. The show came and went and although there were some pretty major announcements from Nokia, no new devices. Does that mean R&D have been asleep this past while? Most likely not. Of course, we don’t comment on rumours or leaks, but we are looking forward to C BIT for the next series of Nokia announcements. Right we’re off to pack our rucksacks and lederhosen, C you there.

LG GW990 Caught On Video, Demoing Itself Beside the HTC HD2; GT540 and Mini GD880 Too!

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

We've seen a bit about the LG GW990 so far - and it could be the first "handset" running on Nokia and Intel's new MeeGo OS. It looks like it's just been caught demoing itself on video side-by-side with an already large HTC HD2. It makes the HD2 look puny to be honest, so I hope you have some large pockets. The good news here is that the GW990 looks pretty smooth as you can see with the multitouchiness - but they still have to iron out some of it. First the LG BL40 then the GW990 with the weird aspect ratios.

The video's quite long but they also show off the GT540 and the Mini GD880 as well.

These rumoured notebooks are expected to launch in Q2 of this year and will come in 13, 14, and 15-inch models.

They're said to have a 1-inch thin body too, so we're still expecting them to launch that 19mm thin notebook in the future as well.

Apparently, this handset will be running on BB OS 6.0 (not out yet, of course) and it'll have WiFi 802.11n support. It's said to have GSM / HSPA connectivity - so it won't be locked on Verizon.

Apparently though, we'll see the touchscreen Bold (Dakota / Magnum) after they launch this handset.

Blizzard Still Planning To Launch StarCraft II In H1 2010... Hopefully.

Labels: , ,

There are a couple of people out there who are lucky enough to be playing the StarCraft II Beta and, unfortunately, I wasn't one of them. The good news is that Blizzard is targeting a 3 - 5 month time-frame for the beta and they're really targeting a H1 2010 launch for the game so that's great news. Then again, we'll believe it when we see it. Let's hope this is true though because I'm not leaving my house this Summer if this is true.

It's got Bluetooth / WiFi support along with CDMA connectivity so it'll hit Verizon / Sprint if necessary. Check out the FCC filing here.

Asus Eee PC 1015P, 1016P, and 1018P Netbooks Leak Out Before Official Announcement

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A couple of upcoming netbooks that will be a part of Asus' Eee PC line-up have just leaked a couple of days early. They include the 1015P, the 1016P, and the 1018P. They'll all feature 10-inch displays with Intel Atom CPUs. Apparently, the 1015P (above) is set to be a refresh of the current 1005P and it'll feature a matte display, a chiclet keyboard, an aluminum body, and a battery life that will last up to 14 hours. The 1016P is said to be quite similar to the 1015P but it'll be slightly more business-focused.

The last one is the 1018P (below, picture via Slash Gear) which is said to be their thinnest netbook to date at just 18mm thick. Along with that it'll also have a fingerprint scanner, a USB 3.0 port, and a battery life that will last 10 hours. We'll see more of these at CeBIT 2010 which is in a couple of days.

Update: According to Netbooked, the Eee PC 1016P and the 1018P will be rocking Intel Atom N455 / N475 CPU options. This means that there'll be support for DDR3 RAM. Both of them also step it up by offering [optional] WiMAX, USB 3.0, and Bluetooth 3.0 support.

Verizon To Retire the BlackBerry Storm 9530, Curve 8330, Curve 8830, and Pearl Flip 8230 Soon

Labels: , , , , , ,

As you can see it looks like Verizon is running dry on their stock of the BlackBerry Storm 9530, Curve 8330, Curve 8830, and the Pearl Flip 8230. I don't think this is bad news since the BlackBerry Storm 2, Curve 8530, and Tour 9630 are out already. Of course, maybe this could mean that Verizon could launch the next Pearl (9100) soon - y'know the one with the trackball. Maybe they're even going to launch the Tour2 soon.

Rogers Launches the HTC Magic+, Sense UI and No More 911 Problems

Labels: , , , , , ,

It looks like Rogers has just relaunched the HTC Magic and have just called it the HTC Magic+. Of course, this handset isn't all that different from the old Magic. However, this handset has fixed the 911 issue and it's even got the Sense UI on-board, which is some good stuff - although it's still running Android 1.5. The specs stay the same so don't think you're getting extra power in this sucker. Check it out on their website here.

LG's First Windows Phone 7 Series Handset Expected In September

The rumoured specs for their first Windows Phone 7 Series are beastly - that's the LG Apollo. I don't see LG launching a phone with a name like that so it's likely just an internal codename right now, if it's true.

Android-Based HTC Incredible Spotted In Verizon's Inventory System

Labels: , , , , ,

Well, it looks like a new and juicy Android handset has just been spotted in Verizon's inventory systems. It's the HTC Incredible which could be a CDMA variant of the HTC Desire. This one's weird because the Desire is already similar to the Nexus One and we already know that Verizon is getting the Nexus One later this year. We'll just have to see how all of this unfolds.
