Bell Cuts the Price of the Palm Pre To $99.95

Labels: , , , , ,

Just two weeks ago, Bell in Canada cut the price of the Palm Pre to $149.95 CAD on a 3-year contract and now we're hearing that it'll get cut again tomorrow to just $99.95. This is likely because of their new slew of phones and their faster HSPA network. I'd rather get the Omnia II, iPhone 3GS, or the Nokia N97... just saying.

Update on November 4th: Yup, it's officially official. Check out the price drop here - found thanks to Mobile Syrup.

Nokia X3 Gets Approved By the FCC, Launch Imminent?

Labels: , ,

It looks like something that we haven't heard about for a while has just passed the FCC and it's the Nokia X3. This handset is a slider that features: a 2.2-inch QVGA display, a 3.2MP camera with a flash, a microSD card slot (2GB card in the box), stereo speakers, an FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 2.1 support.

This is the US FCC filing so maybe it'll launch with a carrier, but it might not. If it doesn't it shouldn't be too expensive since we heard that it'll launch for just €115 ($169 USD) in Europe. Check out the FCC filing here.

Verizon Stores Opening At 7 or 8 In the Morning On November 6th For DROIDs -- Opening At Midnight In New York

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Verizon has just announced that most of their in-store locations will be opening a little bit earlier on November 6th thanks to the Motorola DROID - and the HTC Droid Eris. We heard about this a couple of days ago, but it's official now. Their stores will be opening at either 7 or 8 in the morning to satisfy your DROID needs.

Update on November 4th: According to Mobile Crunch, a limited amount of Verizon Wireless stores will be opening at midnight until 2 a.m. (on November 6th) to sell the DROID as well.

As far as we’ve confirmed so far, there’s only one store doing the midnight sale, and it’s right in the heart of New York. If you’re anywhere near the store (located at 134 W 34TH St, New York), go get your camping gear ready; there’s nothing like getting the object of your desire at midnight, excitedly playing with it for 2 minutes, and then caving to the utter exhaustion that standing out in the freezing cold midnight air will cause.

Clove UK Has the XPERIA X10 (X3) Available For £460 Pre-Orders

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

It looks like Clove UK now has the XPERIA X10 (formerly the X3) available for pre-ordering. It's £400 ($656 USD) and £460 ($754 USD) including VAT which is actually a bit cheaper than what I was expecting. It comes with Android 1.6, but let's hope that Sony Ericsson ships it with their Rachael skin over Android 2.0. Check out the pre-order listing here, it states that it'll be available in February of next year.

Acer Definitely Working On New Ultraportables For Q1 2010

Labels: , , , ,

Acer has just mentioned that they're working on new ultraportables for Q1 2010, which really isn't all that surprising. These could be a part of their Timeline series and will likely utilize Intel's ULV CPUs. The battery life for these notebooks are expected to be around 8 hours.

Unknown Lenovo ThinkPad Spotted Running Windows XP -- Still Have No Clue What It Is.

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Yesterday, Engadget had an interesting photo of a next-gen ThinkPad that supposedly was a netbook of some sort. That same Lenovo ThinkPad has surfaced again today, this time turned on and running Windows XP. It could be a China fake. We're hearing that this could be the ThinkPad x100e / x200e.

Google Already Working On Android 2.1?

Labels: ,

Even though Motorola DROID is scheduled to launch with Android 2.0 on November 6th, it looks like Google is already cooking up Android 2.1. However, it is just a rumour, but according to the Analytics picture above, there are definitely a small amount of people testing it out. Android 2.1 may just be a fix for Android 2.0 if anything goes wrong, and we're hearing that it'll actually be available by the end of the year. Damn, Google, you're too fast.

TwitterPeek Now Official, Tweet However Much You Want For $200 On-The-Go

Labels: , , ,

Even though we've seen it listed on a couple of online retailer's websites for the past week, it's just been made official. The TwitterPeek will use T-Mobile's EDGE network to keep up with all of your Twitter needs. This device, clearly, has a physical QWERTY keyboard and supposedly a 4-day battery life. The best deal is likely $200 for free use forever and ever - however, you can get it for $100 for 6 months of free Twitter and then it'll cost you $8 monthly after that. Check out Slash Gear's review of the TwitterPeek, they mentioned that it's "sluggish and poorly featured."

4th Generation iPhone Midboard Now Available From China?

Labels: , , , ,

Well, this appears to be another piece to the next iPhone. The "iPhone 4 Generation Midboard" signals off that - if this is real - the next iPhone will be slimmer, but actually a tiny bit shorter. I doubt that Apple would decrease the size of the screen, so it'll get rid of some bezel space. The next iPhone should be available in the Summer of 2010, but maybe this is signalling an earlier release date? I doubt it but you never know.

Eston N97 MID Has Nothing To Do With Nokia, 7-Inch Android MID That Pumps HD Video

Labels: , , ,

Eston has just announced their N97 MID -- and no, I'm not talking about a Nokia flagship handset here. The Eston N97 MID features a 7-inch touchscreen display, a Marvell PXA303 CPU, Android, and WiFi / 3G / Flash support. This MID will supposedly be able to pump out HD video, but we'll see if that's true in the future.

Dell Mini 3iX Smartphone Runs Android and Has 3G / WiFi Support!

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

A variant of Dell's Mini 3i smartphone looks like it has just been spotted in Brazil, the Dell Mini 3iX. The good news here is that it comes with WiFi and 3G connectivity, which is definitely welcomed. Other than that the specs are the same so there aren't any other surprises. Let's hope that AT&T is getting this handset and not the one without 3G and WiFi.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Gets Officially Announced, Coming First Half of 2010.

Labels: , , , , , ,

Late last night, Sony Ericsson officially announced the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 - formerly the XPERIA X3. It'll have everything we've heard of before: the awesome 4-inch capacitive WVGA toucshcreen OLED display, an 8.1MP camera with an underwhelming LED flash, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. Yup, no physical keyboard, but as you can see Rachael is looking sexy. Rachael is what they're calling their customized Android skin.

The sad part about all of this news is that it'll be available in the first half of 2010, which is slightly different from the Q1 2010 launch that I was hoping for. We'll have to wait quite a while for this, but there's always something you can do in the meantime. Check out this Engadget link to see their hands-on of the handset.

Update: There's now a video below of the XPERIA X10, courtesy of Phandroid. Below the video you'll find the complete spec sheet. It'll likely ship with Android 2.0 though.
