HTC Smartphone With CDMA / WiMAX, Probably the EVO Shift 4G

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Another HTC smartphone has just hit the FCC and it looks like it's a high-end one (model number PG06100). Said smartphone features CDMA along with WiMAX (4G) connectivity. Everyone's saying that this is the HTC EVO Shift 4G (aka the Knight) which would be quite accurate since we really haven't heard of another phone from HTC that will have WiMAX. Check it out at the FCC if you're interested.

Update: According to BGR, they have just been tipped the EVO Shift 4G (or the Knight) will feature a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.7-inch display, an 8MP camera, 4G (of course), and possibly a dual-core CPU (originally supposed to be a single-core 1GHz CPU). Let's see if this turns out to be true.

Mobilicity To Release the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 For $499

Labels: , , , , , ,

A couple of days ago, Mobile Syrup broke the news that Mobilicity in Canada would be launching the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. Well, the website is back at it again and has mentioned that it'll cost $499.99 contract-free. It's quite a bit to pay with all the new advances in technology we'll be seeing in the next few weeks but if you love the cheap monthly plans then maybe this one's worth the price. Unfortunately, the release date is still unknown.

LG's Android "Honeycomb" Tablet To Hit the Market In May 2011

Labels: , , , , , ,

It's a bit too early to have a picture of the LG tablet but there's word going around that they'll have one by May 2011. Specs are still unknown but it should be running Google's Android "Gingerbread" which is the version that should be optimized for tablets. Hopefully we'll find a dual-core CPU inside of it or something powerful like a Tegra 2. One can only dream. As usual, maybe we'll see it at CES 2011.

WebOS-Based Palm Mansion Rumoured To Have 5-Inch Display, Launching In Q1 2011?

Labels: , ,

Just a few days ago, Palm's CEM, Jon Rubenstein, mentioned that Palm will be in a different place at this time next year. That means we should be seeing Palm take more leaps of faiths and jumping into new fields as they try to make the Palm name big and famous again.

Today, there's a new rumour going around regarding an upcoming Palm device, codenamed the Mansion. Apparently, this device will sport a 5-inch display, which is a bit big for a smartphone but will be nice for a small tablet or an MID. Anything else appears to be unknown right now, but it'll be running on WebOS (of course). The rumour states that this could hit the market before the end of Q1 2011, which means that we might see it at CES 2011.

Next iPad On Track For Q1 2011, Will It Be a Global Tablet?

Labels: , , , , ,

DigiTimes is reporting some pretty good news if you're waiting for the second-gen iPad. Apparently, it'll be launching in Q1 2011 which would mean that Apple's yearly launch will be in full-effect. They announced their first iPad in January with a launch in April, so maybe we'll see it hit the market a little bit earlier this time around. The next iPad is said to have a FaceTime camera, a faster CPU (probably from Samsung), a miniUSB port, a bit more RAM, and a "Smart Bezel" feature whatever that is. You should be expecting a display of the same size since Apple seems to hate 7-inch ones.

Update: Coming from AllThingsD (via Slash Gear) is word that Apple could make the next iPad a global model so that you'll be able to use anywhere (on AT&T's and Verizon's network too). If this is the case, it'll likely use Qualcomm's multi-mode GSM/CDMA chip. The next iPad could also feature a Retina Display, which would be insane (I can't see it happening though).

Update: Remember that a patent yesterday said that we might be seeing the next iPad sport a carbon fiber body. This would make it lighter than the current aluminum models. Hopefully the next iPad is sporting an all black body as well.
