Labels: , , , , , , ,

As expected, you can now purchase your very own Samsung Intercept on Sprint if you're willing to pony up $99.99 on a 2-year contract. Of course, this handset is sporting Android 2.1 and will receive an upgrade to version 2.2 sometime in the future. In case you need a quick refresher, the Intercept features a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a microSD card slot, and a 3.2MP camera. Check it out on Sprint here.

Android-Based Acer beTouch E130 Hits the FCC, Stuck With Android 1.6

Labels: , , , ,

A handset from Acer has just hit the FCC and it's the beTouch E130 Android-based handset that we saw at Computex earlier this year. Sadly, it'll be running Android 1.6 but it'll be one of the few Android smartphones out there with a physical QWERTY keyboard (without having to slide it out or flip it out). Other specs are a 2.6-inch touchscreen display, an underpowered 416MHz CPU, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, a 3.2MP camera, and WiFi support.

ezGear SurfBoard 700 MID / Tablet Runs Android and the New RockChip RK2818 1GHz CPU

Labels: , , ,

ezGear has just unveiled their latest Android-based tablet / MID, the SurfBoard 700. This tablet sports the new RockChip RK2818 CPU clocked at 1GHz, WiFi b/g, an HDMI output, and a 7-inch WVGA (800 x 480 resolution) display. On board you'll also find a microSD card slot, a USB 2.0 port, stereo speakers, a trackball, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the battery life will supposedly last 20 hours of music playback and 9 hours of video. Of course, the tablet itself is ugly-looking compared to the iPad so I doubt that they'll be able to sell a bunch of these - but I could be wrong. The price and release date are still TBA so look out for that information soon.

RIM Tablet To Feature 7-Inch Display, Cameras, and 1GHz CPU?

Labels: , ,

We already know that RIM is working on some sort of BlackBerry tablet and now there are new rumours about exactly what the tablet may feature. Apparently, the tablet coming from the RIM camp will feature a 7-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz CPU, a camera on the back, and a front-facing camera. I'm also going to assume that it'll be running BB OS 6.0 because I don't really think that RIM has been secretly working on a new OS of any kind. Of course, this tablet is slightly smaller than the rumoured 8.9-inch tablet that we heard about two months ago. There's always room for error.

Motorola WX445 Spotted In the Wild, Low-End Android Handset Headed To Verizon

Labels: , , , , ,

Engadget was the first to report about a new low-end Android handset on its way to Verizon. This handset is coming from Motorola and it's being dubbed the WX445 as you can see in the image above. The touchscreen display is said to be 2.5 to 3-inches and there's 4 touch-sensitive buttons along with 2 psychical buttons. It'll reportedly be running Android 2.1 along with a camera on the back (unknown megapixels) with no flash, and an 1,170 mAh battery. It can't really compete with the DROID 2 or the DROID X that should make its way to Verizon soon, but hopefully this will be free on contract.
