Continuing the DROID onslaught is Verizon putting up a few smartphones on their website. This includes the Motorola DROID Pro and the DROID 2 Global. The former is on pre-sale until the 18th which is when it'll be available and the latter is available right now for $199.99 on a 2-year contract. Both of these smartphones are world phones so you can use them where ever you want thanks to the quad-band GSM connectivity that they also feature. And yes, the DROID 2 Global does have a CPU clocked at 1.2GHz! Check out the DROID Pro on Verizon's website (here), while the DROID 2 Global is up in white (here) and black (here).

Motorola DROID 2 Global Won't Be Hitting Verizon Until November 29th?

Labels: , , , , ,

Okay, so maybe the Motorola DROID 2 Global won't launch on November 11thAndroid Spin has just picked up a leaked Verizon document that says that it'll actually launch on November 29th. This isn't exactly the worst news out there because Verizon still has a couple of Android handsets on the way (the Samsung Continuum and the Motorola DROID PRo). Trust me when I say, the wait will be over soon.

The DROID 2 Global is said to feature the same look as the DROID 2 along with a 3.7-inch display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 1.2GHz CPU, a 5MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (8GB card pre-installed), Flash 10.1 support, dual-band CDMA / quad-band GSM connectivity, and Android 2.2 with the Blur UI. It should be available in two colours: Dark Sapphire and Winter White.

Verizon's Internal Systems Confirms the DROID 2 Global Launch On November 11th

Labels: , , , , ,

A screenshot of Verizon's internal systems has just confirmed exactly when the Motorola DROID 2 Global will be launching. Confirming the rumours, it'll be launching on "all channels" on November 11th which is Wednesday of next week. This is something to definitely wait for! It's reportedly packing a 1.2GHz CPU so this one is definitely something to save up for. If that's the case, next week will be quite big for the tech industry.

Motorola DROID 2 Global To Hit Verizon On November 11th With 1.2GHz CPU?

Labels: , , , , ,

We haven't heard much about the Motorola DROID 2 Global lately but Engadget has picked up some crucial information regarding this smartphone. According to the leak above, Verizon will be launching it on November 11th and it's said to be sporting a 1.2GHz CPU, WiFi support, and dual-band CDMA / quad-band GSM / tri-band UMTS connectivity making it a world phone. This is looking like the DROID 2 Global could be a phone to wait for and that pretty much confirms why Verizon decided to lower the price on the original DROID 2.

Leaked Costco Screenshot Says the Motorola DROID 2 Global Will Be Here Soon, T-Mobile Comet To Cost $149

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Another leaked inventory screenshot shows that Verizon intends to launch the Motorola DROID 2 Global "soon". It'll be available at launch in black and white for $199.99 on a 2-year contract if the leaked shot from Costco (above) is to be believed. Another handset that should also be on the way is the T-Mobile Comet aka the Huawei U8150. This will reportedly be available for $149.99 which is quite steep considering the other Android handsets that the carrier already offers - and will offer in the near future.

Leaked Verizon Rebate Form Says the DROID 2 Pro / Global, Palm Pre 2, Samsung Continuum, and Others Are Coming Soon

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Thanks to a leaked Verizon rebate form we know that a few new handsets are headed to the biggest US carrier. This includes the DROID 2 Pro and two models of the DROID 2 Global, which means there will be one without a camera for business purposes. The Palm Pre 2 also makes an appearance and comes with a $100 rebate. The Motorola (WX445) Citrus, Samsung Zeal, and the LG Cosmos Touch are on here as well. The latter two are unheard of before this rebate form so look out for those to be leaked / unveiled soon.

Yes, the Samsung (i400) Continuum is also on the form and this one should be unveiled at the company's November 8th event - along with the Nexus device. Last, but not least, there's a new Bold 9650 on the way so maybe this will have OS 6.0 pre-installed or something like that.Look out for them all sometime in November, which seems like it'll be a big month for the carrier.

Eight Devices Hitting Verizon On November 11th; Includes Pre 2, DROID Pro, DROID 2 Global, and LG enV Touch Pro

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We heard earlier today that Verizon would be getting the Samsung Continuum and the LG Vortex on October 29th and it looks like they'll have four more handsets in the pipe two weeks after that. On November 11th, the carrier will be releasing the Palm Pre 2, Motorola DROID Pro, DROID 2 Global, and the Motorola (WX445) Citrus. The Pre 2 is, of course, running on WebOS 2.0 (check out Engadget's review if you want), while the other three handsets will be running on Google's Android OS. Verizon is definitely a carrier to be reckoned with since they have all of these smartphones on the way.

Update: According to Phandroid, November 11th will actually be a very big day for the carrier. In addition to the four phones they'll be launching we now know that the Galaxy Tab will be hitting the carrier on November 11th as well. That's not all though. Apparently, you can also expect the LG enV Touch Pro, the LG Vortex, and the Samsung Continuum on the 11th too. Yes, the Vortex and the Continuum were supposed to actually launch on October 29th but it looks like that has been pushed back. So that's eight devices in one day, can you handle it?

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

A new Verizon Q4 roadmap has just leaked out and it details four upcoming 3G Global smartphones: the HTC Merge, the Motorola DROID Pro, the DROID 2 Global, and the LG enV Pro. We've heard about all of these smartphones before and we already knew that we were expecting Verizon to release them all before the end of the year. This is just confirmation of that. The DROID Pro has already been made official so let's hope we hear more about the other three in the very near future.

You can also expect the Motorola WX445 Citrus in Q4 as well but it'll cater to the mid-end world.

On Motorola's own website there was information that was spotted before they pulled all of it. Apparently, the Droid 2 Global briefly appeared on the website confirming that it does exist. Furthermore, they even posted a few specs regarding this smartphone, things like: a 5MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, an improved slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 1.2GHz CPU, and Android 2.2. Pictures weren't put up so maybe this is the World Edition DROID 2 that everyone has been waiting for - set for a Verizon release I assume.

First Motorola DROID 2 World Edition Pictures Leak, CPU To Be Clocked At 1.2GHz?

Labels: , , , ,

Coming from DROID-Life are the two pictures you see above and below of the Verizon Motorola DROID 2 World Edition. This smartphone should basically be the same as the old DROID 2 but it'll be a dual-capability device so it'll work on Verizon's CDMA network in USA and GSM networks if you're somewhere else. This model isn't dressed in all black, instead it has picked up a white backing so you'll be able to tell the two apart. Launch could be in the next month or so.

Update: According to Boy Genius, the DROID 2 World Edition may actually have a speedier 1.2GHz CPU. This was according to the benchmarks, so this could actually be true!

Labels: , , , , , , ,

The Motorola DROID 2 has been available in the US for a while now and it looks like it will definitely be headed to a couple of places outside of the nation (like Europe and even Canada). Thanks to Motorola uploading a video on YouTube then quickly pulling it off, it should get just about official. Of course, it will be called the Milestone 2 and it should feature the same spec sheet: a 3.7-inch display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 1GHz TI OMAP SoC, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera, and Android 2.2. Well, the launch is still unknown so we'll have to wait for some more information from Motorola.

Labels: , , , , , ,

Engadget has just got some exclusive information regarding two new Android-based handsets headed to Verizon. The first one is what's being touted as the Motorola DROID Pro. Apparently, this smartphone will just be a DROID 2 will global capabilities (it has GSM / HSPA connectivity as well as CDMA). Another handset is headed to Verizon and it'll be the successor to the LG enV Touch, the enV Touch 2. Apparently, this handset will be sporting a dual-touchscreen display, global capabilities, a QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.1 (for now at least). This will be quite the hefty phone and it shouldn't be one of the higher-end Android handsets that the carrier has. It should leak out before the launch which is said to be during the holiday season.
