Supposed Image Of the BlackBerry Storm 3 Leak Out, With Optical Trackpad

Labels: , , , ,

Today's shaping up to be a pretty busy day for a blogger like myself. Coming from BerryReview is the image above. It's a new device from RIM and it could very well be the Storm 3 that should be hitting Verizon in the US later this year. The full spec sheet is unknown but apparently the device pictured sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen display and 8GB of internal storage. Unlike the Storm and Storm 2, this one also comes with an optical trackpad along with [likely] OS 6.0 pre-installed.

Rogers About To Take Pre-Orders For the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, Launching On October 16th Or 21st?

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

I'm waiting patiently for the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate to hit Rogers and it looks like the launch is coming up. The carrier has finally put up the pre-order page for the smartphone (here) and it'll be available for $149.99 on a 3-year contract - Bluetooth headset for free too! I'll be getting this one contract-free, unfortunately that price tag is still unknown.

By the way, if you pre-order this smartphone you'll be entered into a draw to win a "Samsung price pack" which contains a 55-inch C9000 LED HDTV, a Home Theatre package, and a DSLR camera. This deal lasts until October 16th so that could be the launch date as well.

Update: The pre-order page is no longer available, but it should be back up in the next day or two - according to Rogers.

Update: Another Mobile Syrup post has just mentioned that another possible launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate will be on October 21st. This is because the "Contest Period" will start on September 21st just after midnight and ends right before midnight on October 21st. This is sad news since we'll have to be waiting a whole month more for this smartphone. Cue the sighs.

HTC Lexikon Said To Be Hitting Verizon, Yet Another DROID

Labels: , , , , , ,

If what we're hearing from Phandroid is correct then the image you see above could be headed to Verizon with Android on-board. Of course, this is looking like it could be a part of their growing DROID line-up. Codenamed the HTC Lexikon, this smartphone reportedly features a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen display (unique?), the new Qualcomm 800MHz MSM7630 CPU, a 5MP camera, 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, and Android 2.2 with the Sense UI. Launch is unknown right now but we'll likely see it before the end of the year since it has leaked so early.

HTC HD7 To Launch On October 18th, Hitting O2 Germany

Ahh yes, exclusive information coming from WMPowerUser so you already know what this one's about. One of HTC's first Windows Phone 7 handsets, the HD7, will reportedly be available in mid-October - the 18th if everything goes as planned - and will be available on O2 Germany. Apparently, this handset will cost you €79 on a 2-year contract and you'll only have to pay €20 monthly. If you're looking for it contract-free then you'll be able to get one for €559 (about $729 USD). The full spec sheet is unknown and we're still looking around for a picture of this smartphone which should leak in the coming days / weeks.

HTC Working With Pegatron For Their Android 3.0 Based Tablet, Launching In Early 2011

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

According to DigiTimes we could have some news regarding HTC's Android-based tablet. Someone close to the matter has mentioned that HTC has given the thumbs-up to Pegatron to produce the company's first Android tablet. This is scheduled to hit the market in early 2011 so we could be seeing it at CES and they're probably going to be internally testing it for the meantime. Rumoured specs for this tablet are said to be a touchscreen display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution, 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, and the Android 3.0 "Gingerbread" OS. The unlocked price tag is said to be right around $800. Support for the Android Market is expected so this could be the first or second or third real iPad competitor.

NFS N-Pad Tablet Gets Spotted At IDF, Android With Atom Z6xx Moorestown CPU

Labels: , , , , , , ,

IDF, like the other events that were held earlier this year, showcased a bunch of tablets and some of them were pretty unique. CarryPad spotted the tablet you see above at IDF 2010. While it may not be as interesting as the Dell Inspiron Duo, it's still something that you might want to take a look at. Dubbed the N-Pad by NFS, this tablet is running a next-gen Atom Z6xx CPU - part of the Moorestown line-up - and it's running an Android build. Sadly, that's all we know about it thus far and this may or may not be hitting the market so don't be surprised if it's not under your Christmas tree this year. There's a video below if you want to check it out.

HTC Desire HD Hitting Australia, Exclusively Through Vodafone and 3

Labels: , , , , , , ,

In Australia, it has just been announced that they'll be getting the Android-based HTC Desire HD smartphone sometime in the future. Prices are unknown right now but it should be available for free on select contracts. The Desire HD will be exclusively available on both Vodafone and 3 down under so you better be willing to stay with one of those carriers.

As a refresher, the Desire HD packs a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display, an 8MP camera with 720p HD video, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 768MB of RAM, WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth support, and Android 2.2 with the Sense UI. This is definitely of the best smartphones to hit the market.
