Telus Releasing the Galaxy S Fascinate 4G On May 12th, Rogers Getting the Nokia E5

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Two phones look like they're on their way to Canada soon. First up if the one above which we've known would be hitting Telus for a while now. Yup, it's the Galaxy S Fascinate 4G which is the exact same as the Vibrant 4G that hit T-Mobile USA. This one features a 4-inch display, HSPA+ support, a 1GHz CPU, and Android 2.2 with the Touchwiz UI. This will be available on May 12th, which is just two weeks away.

The other handset is the Nokia E5 which is headed to Rogers soon. This one's not as exciting but it'll be a cheap phone with a QWERTY keyboard for easy and quick text messaging. The price and release date is still unknown for this one right now but we should be finding out the details soon.

Huge Spec Sheet Leak For MWC; Samsung Galaxy S 2 (i9000), HTC Desire HD2, Desire 2, and Wildfire 2

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

PocketNow just got a huge scoop revealing the spec sheets of a few Android powered handsets that will be getting officially unveiled at MWC next week. They include the Samsung Galaxy (i9000) S 2, the HTC Desire HD2, the HTC Desire 2, and the HTC Wildfire 2 which actually leaked earlier this week in an official HTC commercial.

If you want you can just go through the photos and take a look at the spec sheet but I'll give you the gist of it. The Samsung Galaxy (i9000) S 2 will feature a 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED+ display, an 8MP AF camera with an LED flash and 1080p HD video recording, a front-facing 2MP camera, 512MB of RAM, a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon CPU, an Adreno 205 GPU, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, HDMI output, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 3.0 support, WiFi hotspot, aGPS, and Android with the Touchwiz UI. These specs might be a bit off because there are a lot of rumours that point to this smartphone packing a Samsung Orion dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz.

Next up is the HTC Desire HD2. Apparently, this one will feature a 3.3-inch qHD display (960 x 540 resolution), an 8MP AF camera with an LED flash and 1080p HD video recording, 512MB of RAM, a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon CPU, an Adreno 205 GPU, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI output, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 2.1 support, WiFi hotspot, aGPS, and Android with the Sense UI. I think it might be a typo that the Desire HD2 will pack a 3.3-inch display since the current one packs a 4.3-inch one; it should feature the same size display.

Next up is the HTC Desire 2 which we've seen leaked many times before. This will feature a 3.7-inch WVGA Super LCD display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a front-facing 2MP camera, 512MB of RAM, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, an Adreno 200 GPU, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi b/g / Bluetooth 2.1 support, WiFi hotspot, aGPS, and Android with the Sense UI.

Last, and probably the least out of the bunch, is the HTC Wildfire 2 which will probably be the only one in my price range. This one will feature a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, 384MB of RAM, a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 CPU, an Adreno 200 GPU, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi b/g / Bluetooth 2.1 support, WiFi hotspot, aGPS, and Android with the Sense UI.

What a leak; it's definitely getting me excited for MWC next week!

Samsung Makes the I9003 Galaxy SL Official With Super Clear LCD Display and 1GHz TI OMAP CPU

Labels: , , , ,

Samsung has just made yet another Galaxy S official and it's the I9003 which is the Galaxy SL. The main difference between this one and the I9000 Galaxy S Series is that the I9003 swaps out the Super AMOLED for a 4-inch Super Clear LCD display. The I9003 also packs a TI OMAP 3630 1GHz CPU instead of the 1GHz Hummingbird CPU that's in the I9000.

Other specs include 16GB of internal storage, a bit more RAM, a sligthly thicker 10.59mm body, a slightly heavier 131 grams, a larger 1,650mAh battery, Android 2.2, and everything else that you'd find in the old I9000. It's unclear if this will be hitting the whole world but this smartphone is up on a few of their international websites.

Of course, the smartphone also features a 4-inch WVGA display, a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, Android 2.2 with the Touchwiz UI, and HSPA+. Price is still unknown.

Samsung Teases the Galaxy S Successor, Will Be At MWC

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Like they said, Samsung has just come through and unveiled their first Samsung Galaxy S successor tease to us. It's a short 31 second video and it doesn't show us much. What it does tell us is that the rumours of the Galaxy S successor looking like the Nexus S is false. Specs are still unknown but it'll be a high-end superphone. Of course, it looks thin and it may also have a chrome frame which I hope they remove. Check out another picture and the video below.

More Unconfirmed Samsung Galaxy S2 Specs Leak

Labels: , , , , , ,

Weeks before MWC, which starts in mid-February, there's word of more unconfirmed specs for the Samsung Galaxy S successor. Apparently, it'll feature a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED+ WVGA display, an 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording, a dual-core Samsung Orion CPU, NFC capabilities, 1GB of RAM, a body less than 9mm thick, and Android 2.3 "Gingerbread". These specs seem like they could be achievable but there's no way of confirming whether they're true or not. We'll just have to wait for the big unveiling from Samsung at next month's event.

Samsung To Bring the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 2 At CES 2011?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

There's a rumour going around that Samsung is going to be unveiling a few products at CES 2011. We already heard that they'll have the Galaxy S PMP ready and they'll also reportedly have the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Tab 2 as well. Of course, this is unconfirmed right now but they could just show us glimpses of both devices and I'd be happy. The Galaxy Tab 2 should be packing a Tegra 2 CPU while the Galaxy S2 should have some sort of dual-core CPU inside of it. I wonder if it'll be ready for prime time.

Samsung To Reveal Their Galaxy PMP At CES 2011, Finally.

Labels: , , , ,

The first real iPod Touch rival will be at CES 2011 and Samsung has already confirmed it. This one should basically be the Galaxy S without phone functionalities. It'll be running Android and will reportedly be running Android 2.2 "Froyo" along with a 4-inch Super Clear LCD display because there's really no point of wasting Super AMOLED displays on this. It should also contain the company's own Hummingbird 1GHz CPU. On the back should be a 3.2MP camera along with a front-facing camera. It'll be shown off in the next week or so.

Samsung Firmware Group Tweets Unimportant Stuff About the GT-i9200, Should Be the Next Galaxy Series

Labels: , , , ,

The latest tweet from Samsung's US Mobile Firmware Group (pictured above) has mentioned a new smartphone from the company. Yes, the Samsung GT-i9200, which should be the next-gen Galaxy Android smartphones. Check it out at the XDA.

Update: Phandroid has decided to recap some rumoured specs of the next-gen Galaxy smartphone. They mention things like a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED 2 display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution (340 ppi), 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, 32GB of internal storage, an 8MP camera with Full HD (1080p) video recording, and probably Gingerbread. I wonder if these will turn out to be true. Of course, let's hope it has essentials like a front-facing camera and a flash for the rear-facing one.

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Virgin Mobile had a pretty good day today, they actually released three smartphones. The first two are above and it's the black and white BlackBerry Bold 9780. Check out the white model here and the black model here; they're both available for $124.99 on the 3-year SuperTab contract and $499.99 contract-free.

The other smartphone is what I think the better choice is. Virgin Mobile has also released the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant which features Android 2.1 underneath the Touchwiz 3.0 UI. It's packing a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, Bluetooth 3.0 / WiFi b/g/n / GPS support, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, and a microSD card slot. Telus Releasing the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate On November 10th, At Their Event

Labels: , , , , , , ,

At this point we already know that Telus and Samsung are holding an event for the Galaxy S Fascinate on November 10th and it looks like that will be the day where they also release it. The event will definitely be an unveil and a release for the phone so it's a perfect launch event. The worst news about this is that it'll be available in "limited quantities" but I'm sure it'll be easier to find than the Captivate on Rogers.

Virgin Mobile Canada To Launch the BlackBerry Bold 9780 On Nov. 9th, Galaxy S On the 15th

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

A tipster from Boy Genius has just mentioned that Virgin Mobile in Canada is just about ready to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9780, the LG Flick, and Samsung Galaxy 550 (aka the i5500), and the Galaxy S. The two smartphones that are the most interesting on this is, of course, the Bold 9780, which will apparently launch on November 9th (next week), and the Galaxy S, which will be launching on November 15th. Right now we don't know which model of the Galaxy S they'll be getting but you should already know the spec sheet by now since most of the Galaxy S's sport [more or less] the exact same ones. Bell owns Virgin Mobile and they managed to get the European Galaxy S which has a front-facing camera; maybe they'll be getting the same one.

Rogers Dummy Units Pop Up Across the Nation; Dell Streak, BlackBerry Bold 9780, and Samsung Galaxy S Captivate

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A few new Rogers dummy units are starting to get shipped to stores and the first one is above. Pictured beside an iPhone 4 in the above photo is a dummy unit of the Dell Streak, which will be hitting Rogers in Canada in early November. This one features a 5-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 5MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of ROM / SDRAM, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, a 1,530mAh battery, and Android 1.6 that should be getting an upgrade to 2.1 soon after.

What you see directly above is the dummy unit of the BlackBerry Bold 9780, which is just a slight upgrade over the Bold 9700. This one just got official yesterday and all that you need to know it that is has OS 6.0 pre-installed which comes with the new and improved WebKit browser. It should be available sometime in November.

It took them long enough. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate is finally starting to arrive in stores after a couple of months of waiting. Not much left to tell you here, but they're probably already sold out at this point - I'm kidding, but it'll be rare to find one.
