Verizon To Launch the Motorola (WX445) Citrus, Samsung Zeal, and Samsung Continuum On November 11th

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

A tipster from Phone Arena has just mentioned that three new Verizon devices will be available starting on November 11th. The three devices are said to be the Motorola (WX445) Citrus, Samsung Zeal, and the Samsung (i400) Continuum. First of all, the Citrus is said to feature a 3-inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 240 resolution, a 3MP camera, WiFi support, EVDO Rev. A connectivity, Bluetooth support, Android 2.1, and a 2GB microSD card pre-installed. Next up is the Samsung Zeal which may give you flashbacks of the Samsung Alias / Alias 2. It sports a 2.6-inch QVGA display, a 2MP camera, Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, and e-ink keys that work the same way as the Alias 2. For some reason, it has the same model number - U750 - as the Alias 2 so they're definitely really similar.

Last, but definitely not least, is the Samsung Continuum. This Android 2.2 based smartphone sports a 3.4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, a smaller "Ticker" 1.8-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi b/g/n support, EVDO Rev. A, a microSD card slot (8GB in the box), 2GB of internal storage, 384MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, the Touchwiz UI, and DivX support.

November 11th is also the rumoured date that the Google Nexus Two (or the Samsung made Nexus device) will be available.

Nokia Z500 (MeeGo Tablet) Leaked On the Ovi Store, No Details

Labels: , , , ,

The Ovi Store (here) may have just leaked something that people might be looking forward to. The device I'm talking about here is the Nokia Z500, which is already rumoured to be a MeeGo-based tablet - although the Ovi Store says it's a cell phone. This is definitely some good news for consumers and Nokia because they definitely need something to break the US market. This could be it.

Leaked Costco Screenshot Says the Motorola DROID 2 Global Will Be Here Soon, T-Mobile Comet To Cost $149

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Another leaked inventory screenshot shows that Verizon intends to launch the Motorola DROID 2 Global "soon". It'll be available at launch in black and white for $199.99 on a 2-year contract if the leaked shot from Costco (above) is to be believed. Another handset that should also be on the way is the T-Mobile Comet aka the Huawei U8150. This will reportedly be available for $149.99 which is quite steep considering the other Android handsets that the carrier already offers - and will offer in the near future.

Samsung-Made Google Nexus Two Specs Leak, Or Simply a Rumour? 1.2GHz CPU?

Labels: , , , , ,

I'm trying to keep up with all of the news regarding the Samsung-made Nexus device, which is being dubbed the Nexus Two, and apparently the spec sheet may have been leaked. According to an "insider", the upcoming Nexus device that will be announced in the near future will sport a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz CPU (possibly the next-gen Hummingbirds), 16GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, support for a bunch of different carriers across the world (but possibly no CDMA), and Gingerbread. If these specs are true, this is definitely setting the standard for the next group of "superphones". It's about a week away from a possible announcement.

Leaked Verizon Rebate Form Says the DROID 2 Pro / Global, Palm Pre 2, Samsung Continuum, and Others Are Coming Soon

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Thanks to a leaked Verizon rebate form we know that a few new handsets are headed to the biggest US carrier. This includes the DROID 2 Pro and two models of the DROID 2 Global, which means there will be one without a camera for business purposes. The Palm Pre 2 also makes an appearance and comes with a $100 rebate. The Motorola (WX445) Citrus, Samsung Zeal, and the LG Cosmos Touch are on here as well. The latter two are unheard of before this rebate form so look out for those to be leaked / unveiled soon.

Yes, the Samsung (i400) Continuum is also on the form and this one should be unveiled at the company's November 8th event - along with the Nexus device. Last, but not least, there's a new Bold 9650 on the way so maybe this will have OS 6.0 pre-installed or something like that.Look out for them all sometime in November, which seems like it'll be a big month for the carrier.

WIND Mobile To Get the BlackBerry Curve 3G In the Future

Labels: , , , ,

Coming from WIND Mobile's own site is OS 5.0.0.977 for the BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300), which they currently don't offer. Obviously, this is a tip that they will be launching it sometime in the future. The Curve 3G is definitely a great addition to their line-up since the only BB they do offer is the Bold 9700 and consumers want something a bit cheaper. Look out for it soon.

Update: Boy Genius has basically confirmed that WIND Mobile will be getting the Curve 3G (9300) by the leaked inventory screenshot below. As you can see in the picture below there'll be two models so we'll likely be seeing two different colours that the carrier will offer.

Samsung GT-P9010 Hits the FCC, It's the WiFi-Only Galaxy Tab

Labels: , , , , ,

If you're interested in a WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab then you might want to wait around for it because it has just been spotted at the FCC as the GT-P9010. This tablet will be hitting Best Buy in the near future for $499 contract-free which is the exact same as the WiFi-only 16GB iPad. Of course, the regular consumer will pick the iPad over the Galaxy Tab because it has a nice shiny Apple logo on the back. Anyways, check it out at the FCC.

Acer's Liquid Metal Froyo Packing Smartphone Gets Official, Landing In the UK In Mid-November

Labels: , , , , , ,

Acer's Liquid Metal smartphone has just got official and that's exactly what it'll be launching as. The Acer Liquid Metal is, yes, sporting a body made of liquid metal which is pretty sweet. This smartphone is confirmed to feature a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, the new Qualcomm 800MHz CPU, 384MB of RAM, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, quad-band 2G / tri-band 3G connectivity, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 3.0 support, and DivX / XviD support. This handset is running Android 2.2 "Froyo" and it's sporting the company's own customized UI dubbed the Breeze. This will be available in the middle of November in the UK for £299 ($475 USD) unlocked so it's definitely worth the price. We don't know if it'll hit anywhere outside of that but it's pretty likely since there was an AT&T model that hit the FCC.

GSM Arena points out that there's already a review of this smartphone so if you're interested in that then you can check it out in Russian here.

Samsung GT-I9010 Hits the FCC Looking Like a Galaxy S, Could It Be the Nexus Two?

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

That was definitely quick; everyday we're hearing more and more about the next Google Nexus device. For the time being we'll just call it the Nexus Two, even though that may not be the name when it actually launches. So far we've heard that this smartphone will be a "Google-experience" smartphone, it'll launch with the new version of Android, and it resembles the Galaxy S to a certain extent. Now, the FCC has just let the Samsung I9010 right on through and it definitely sports the same shape as a couple of the Galaxy S variants. In case you forgot, the Galaxy S's model number is the I9000 so you can tell that they'll be quite similar. Check it out at the FCC and even the WiFi Alliance if you're interested.

Dell Thunder To Launch as the Dell Venue Says the FCC

Labels: , , , , , ,

The first thing I thought of when the Dell Venue Pro got official was what the non-Pro model was. It looks like my question may have been answered. Apparently, the Dell Thunder, which has popped up a couple of times, may actually launch as the Dell Venue (V03B) according to the FCC. Specs are just about the same except this one doesn't have a portrait slide-up QWERTY keyboard. The weird thing about this whole fiasco is that the Venue / Thunder will be running Android, while the Venue Pro is running on Windows Phone 7. Check it out at the FCC and it has also been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG.

Verizon has made two of their cheap handsets official and one of them is available right now. The handset that is available is above and it's the LG Octane. Rogers Dummy Units Pop Up Across the Nation; Dell Streak, BlackBerry Bold 9780, and Samsung Galaxy S Captivate

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A few new Rogers dummy units are starting to get shipped to stores and the first one is above. Pictured beside an iPhone 4 in the above photo is a dummy unit of the Dell Streak, which will be hitting Rogers in Canada in early November. This one features a 5-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 5MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of ROM / SDRAM, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, a 1,530mAh battery, and Android 1.6 that should be getting an upgrade to 2.1 soon after.

What you see directly above is the dummy unit of the BlackBerry Bold 9780, which is just a slight upgrade over the Bold 9700. This one just got official yesterday and all that you need to know it that is has OS 6.0 pre-installed which comes with the new and improved WebKit browser. It should be available sometime in November.

It took them long enough. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate is finally starting to arrive in stores after a couple of months of waiting. Not much left to tell you here, but they're probably already sold out at this point - I'm kidding, but it'll be rare to find one.

Labels: , , , ,

This morning, a tipster from Engadget mentioned that there's a new HTC handset that they spotted on the HTC Sense website. It may be a codename right now, but it was seen for a brief moment as the Mecha. Yes, this smartphone is unheard of at this point but it could be the name of a new HTC smartphone with Android and the new Sense UI on board. Sadly, the picture they used for the Mecha - below - is actually a picture of the HTC Hero. It has been pulled off of the website for the time being.

Rogers' Samsung Focus Shows Up, Should Be Ready For Launch Day

Labels: , , , , ,

Something that Rogers may actually launch on time is the WP7-based Samsung Focus. You may already know about the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate fiasco but it's time to move on - even though Rogers still has a very limited stock of said smartphone. The first Windows Phone 7 smartphone that Rogers will launch is the Samsung Focus and it's one of the best that has been announced to date. This sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz CPU, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 8GB of internal storage, WiFi support, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth / GPS, and a 1,500mAh battery. Samsung To Unveil a Google Nexus Device On November 8, Gizmodo Source Gets Their Hands On One?

Labels: , , , ,

There's a new rumour going around regarding the Nexus Two. Apparently, it could actually be coming from Samsung since the company does have an event taking place on November 8th in New York City. While this may be the Samsung ContinuumAndroid and Me mentions that it could be when they plan to unveil the Google Nexus Two. This will be running the next version of Android, "Gingerbread", and will likely have "superphone" like specs. If this is true, let's hope we see a new Hummingbird CPU or even a new 1GHz Snapdragon CPU from Qualcomm.

Looks like I'll be holding off buying my Rogers Samsung Captivate for a couple more days.

Update: According to a Gizmodo source, this device is real and is in the wild. The Google Nexus Two - built by Samsung - reportedly looks like the many Galaxy S variants. Apparently, the source thought it was a Galaxy S from afar but it was actually the Nexus Two. It looked like it was sporting a 4-inch AMOLED display, a thin black and glossy plastic body, and the next version of Android which was still buggy. The source also mentions that this was sporting a front-facing camera so you'll be able to make video calls if you want. A Google Nexus Two could be very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S - I'm hoping it has an optical trackpad.

Update: According to Android and Me, the Nexus device from Samsung won't be called the Nexus Two, but it is a Nexus device. The device is in the wild and has been spotted on the site's own analytics and it'll be available later this year running the next version of Android. I'm thinking it'll be the Nexus S but that's a complete guess.
