HTC Holding a Press Event On September 20th, Hopefully New Devices Are On the Way
HTC's last event may have been lackluster since all they did was talk about their devices having Beats Audio. The company is gearing up for another event on September 20 and this time they should definitely bring some of their latest toys. It's unknown whether it'll be a Windows Phone 7 Mango device or if it'll be an Android-based one so we'll have to wait for them to spill the beans.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play that has been available in North America for a while now looks like it's headed to another carrier. AT&T in the US has just announced that they'll be launching this one with HSPA+ connectivity and a new blue option. The smartphone will still be exactly how you remembered it so you'll be able to exclusively play new Android games, since this is a PlayStation-certified smartphone. The price is still unknown right now.

At the Digital Experience tradeshow in New York yesterday, Samsung unveiled their new line-up of notebooks, the Series 3. These notebooks packs AMD / Intel CPUs along with a metal body which gives it a premium look and feel. This line-up consists of a bunch of different models with 11.6, 12.1, 13.3, 14, and 15.6-inch display options. The full spec sheet for these are unknown right now but the top-of-the-line model should only cost you $820 so it may actually be worth looking at.

Verizon in the US has announced that a new Android "Honeycomb" tablet is on the way. Yes, it's the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which will pack LTE (4G) connectivity - without the need of an upgrade like the XOOM. This tablet will be available in New York on June 8th if you head over to the Union Square Best Buy. Pre-orders will also start on this day and it'll be hitting the whole US on June 17.
This tablet features a 10.1-inch display (1,280 x 800 resolution), a dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 3MP rear-facing camera, and 16GB / 32GB of storage. It'll be available for $529.99 and $629.99, respectively, depending on what amount of storage you decide to buy. Sprint Holding a February 7th Event, Apparently Will Be "Another Industry First"
Sprint is gearing up an announcement for February 7th. We have no clue what it is right now but it will be "another industry first" according to the carrier. This event will be held by the carrier's CEO, Dan Hesse, and will be held in New York. David Blaine will be there to show us that "the impossible is possible" and Engadget will be live-blogging the event. Any guesses?

Acer Unveils Three Touchscreen Android Devices; 4.8-Inch Smartphone and 7 / 10-Inch Tablets
Acer held an event today and we now know that when they hold an event, that they're not joking around. They unveiled three Android-based devices that are all worth a couple of looks at.
The first device that the company mentioned was what you see above and that's a 4.8-inch smartphone, but I'll call it an MID. About a month ago (in October), this actually leaked out so it should be a bit familiar to you. It sports a 1,024 x 480 resolution, an 8MP AF camera with a flash, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 3.0 support, an HDMI port, DLNA, HSDPA connectivity, Flash 10.1 support, and likely version 2.2 of the OS. The price is unknown for this smartphone / MID right now but you can expect it to ship in April 2011 if everything goes as planned.
The next two devices in the pipe from Acer are 7 and 10-inch Android tablets. Both of them are expected to ship in April 2011 (so we'll likely see them again at CES 2011) but the prices are also unknown. The smaller tablet is 7-inches, like I said, and it sports a 1,280 x 800 resolution, a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU, Flash 10.1 support, and Android 2.2. The larger tablet measures 10.1-inches (and is pictured above), has the same resolution (and multitouch of course), a dual-core 1GHz CPU, a 5MP rear-facing camera, an HD front-facing camera, and will ship with Froyo as well. Both of them are also unnamed right now but that's really not important. This was also in the October leak.

Samsung To Unveil a Google Nexus Device On November 8, Gizmodo Source Gets Their Hands On One?
There's a new rumour going around regarding the Nexus Two. Apparently, it could actually be coming from Samsung since the company does have an event taking place on November 8th in New York City. While this may be the Samsung Continuum, Android and Me mentions that it could be when they plan to unveil the Google Nexus Two. This will be running the next version of Android, "Gingerbread", and will likely have "superphone" like specs. If this is true, let's hope we see a new Hummingbird CPU or even a new 1GHz Snapdragon CPU from Qualcomm.
Looks like I'll be holding off buying my Rogers Samsung Captivate for a couple more days.
Update: According to a Gizmodo source, this device is real and is in the wild. The Google Nexus Two - built by Samsung - reportedly looks like the many Galaxy S variants. Apparently, the source thought it was a Galaxy S from afar but it was actually the Nexus Two. It looked like it was sporting a 4-inch AMOLED display, a thin black and glossy plastic body, and the next version of Android which was still buggy. The source also mentions that this was sporting a front-facing camera so you'll be able to make video calls if you want. A Google Nexus Two could be very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S - I'm hoping it has an optical trackpad.
Update: According to Android and Me, the Nexus device from Samsung won't be called the Nexus Two, but it is a Nexus device. The device is in the wild and has been spotted on the site's own analytics and it'll be available later this year running the next version of Android. I'm thinking it'll be the Nexus S but that's a complete guess.

Although the Motorola Droid should get all official next week - supposedly October 28th - and we should, obviously, see a launch sometime in November. Well, this picture above basically confirms it. Earlier, sources were saying that picture meant that Verizon would launch on November 9th (11th month, 9th day), but I believe that Verizon is talking about a month (11th month being November) and the year (09 meaning 2009) here. Either way this looks to be a handset that may save Motorola's future.
Update: According to Unwired View and Phone Arena, Verizon is counting down to the official launch of the Motorola Droid which will take place in New York City on October 28th.
