Motorola MT710 Running OPhone (Android) Headed to China, Like the DROID Without the QWERTY

Labels: , , , , ,

What you see above is the Motorola MT710 which is destined for a release in China. It will be running the Android OS via OPhone. This handset is similar to the Motorola DROID, but without a keyboard since it features a 3.7-inch touchscreen display with an 854 x 480 resolution and 3G TD-SCDMA connectivity. I believe this should be launched in early 2010. Is this the beloved Sholes tablet?

Qualcomm Working With Lenovo On Their First Smartbook, Launching On AT&T In 2010 -- First Look

Labels: , , , , , ,

Like we heard yesterday Qualcomm has officially announced that they'll be launching their first smartbook - made by Lenovo - sometime next year. They'll do the big unveiling at CES 2010, but we do know that it has a low-power ARM CPU that is capable of pumping out 720p HD video. At this point we don't even have a picture of the smartbook but they mentioned that it "looks much like a thin notebook" and it's reportedly also "thinner than a Palm Pre." By the way, the Palm Pre is 16.9mm thick, so it's not exactly the thinnest handset out there. This smartbook will be launching on AT&T next year and, of course, the price will be subsidized.

Update: According to jkk mobile, what you see above is our first look at the said smartbook. And yes, that was fast. It's reportedly running a "custom Linux" build.

StarCraft II Expansions and Diablo III Release Will Take Place In the "Next Few Years"

Labels: , ,

We already know that Blizzard pushed the release of Starcraft II until mid-way through 2010 with the beta starting in Q1. Well, now we're hearing that expansions for Starcraft II are going to be released in the "next few years" which really doesn't tell us much. Also in the "next few years" category is the Diablo III release date so Blizzard is definitely taking their sweet time - perfecting the games of course. Hopefully, "next few years" means 2011.

Dell Inspiron Zino HD Now Available For As Low As $229

Labels: , , , , ,

Although this nettop is now available for as low as $229 you won't really be getting anything out of it at that price. The Dell Inspiron Zino HD has a bit more zing than most nettops if you want to spend more money. You'll be able to pack: up to 8GB of RAM, a 1.8GHz dual-core AMD Athlon Neo X2 6850e CPU, up to a 1TB HDD, an optional Blu-ray drive, 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4330 graphics, and WiFi inside of this baby. Apple Patents Pen-Based Inputs For That Tablet Of Theirs

Labels: , , , ,

Apple has just patented something new and it looks pretty much like it'll be for that sacred Apple iTablet. This patent suggests pen-based input, but I'm sure Apple will allow you to caress the screen with your greasy fingers as well. Check out the patent here.

"Upon the occurrence of an ink phrase termination event, the ink manager notifies the handwriting recognition engine and organizes the preceding ink strokes into an ink phrase data structure...The present invention, in large part, relates to the observation that client applications and handwriting recognition software in pen-based computer systems can make far more accurate ink-related decisions based on entire ink phrases, rather than individual ink strokes."

Could This Really Be Samsung's First Handset Running Bada?

Labels: ,

Samsung has already unveiled that they'll be launching a new open-source mobile OS, Bada. Well, now we're hearing that what you see above is a render of what could be their very first handset. It popped up a couple of days ago, but since then people have been speculating that this could be Samsung's first handset running Bada. To be honest, I'd be perfectly fine if they stuck with their current designs.

Fujitsu Unveil Phone With Detachable Bluetooth Keyboard, 12.2MP Camera, 3.4-Inch Touchscreen, and Pico Projector

Labels: ,

This handset may look simple but it's actually far from it. This is the Fujitsu F-04B handset. It features a display unit and a keyboard unit. The keyboard connects to the display using Bluetooth technology and the display unit is a 3.4-inch LCD touchscreen. The keyboard is detachable from the display and you actually don't really need it for the phone aspect of it. However, you can use the keyboard as "a speaker device" and a game pad. Oh yeah, there's a 12.2MP camera somewhere.

To make things even more interesting, there's an optional projector unit. Yes, you read that right. The mini projector will have a 6 lumen brightness, an 854 x 480 resolution, and it has an 800 mAh battery that should last around 2 hours.

Viewsonic VPC08 Is a Large Phone That Runs Full Windows XP, What's the Point...?

Labels: , , , , , ,

Viewsonic has just announced a new and large "phone" that will run full-blown Windows XP. This is the VPC08 and it features: an Intel ULV CPU, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, a QWERTY keyboard, a 2MP camera, and an external 2-inch display with a numeric keypad which is pictured below. However, it'll be available for $800 when it launches - likely just in China - and, uhh, yeah.

What is the point of these large MID-looking devices - but they're apparently phones - running Windows XP. You know, like the xpPhone. This phone reminds me of the BYD Mars handset that we saw back in April.

Adobe Flash Coming To WebOS In H1 2010; First Palm Pixi Ad

Labels: , , , ,

We already heard that Adobe is working on getting Flash to everyone - except the iPhone - but it looks like this page clearly states that it'll be available for Palm's WebOS in the first half of 2010. This is much different than the "end of the year" news we were hearing about last month. Hopefully the beta starts by the end of this year though.

There's not much to tell you about it, but below is the first Palm Pixi ad. Hint: It's definitely more pleasing to watch than the ones with the red-head.
