BlackBerry 9670 Leaks Out, Flip Phone With a Full QWERTY Keyboard

Labels: , ,

Well, what do you know. Boy Genius leaked out the information on the BlackBerry OS 6.0 this morning and it looks like they have just got exclusive information on the upcoming and unheard of (until now) BlackBerry 9670, which is a flip phone from RIM that packs a QWERTY keyboard. I'm guessing that it'll be the next Pearl Flip, but I could be wrong. This is the first handset that has been caught running BB OS 6.0, which is pretty impressive.

The phone itself packs a 360 x 480 resolution display, CDMA connectivity, a 5MP camera (first for a BlackBerry), WiFi, an optical trackpad, a large external display, a microUSB port, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth support, and a metallic body. Boy Genius mentioned that they're working on getting a video of this handset in action.

Intel Announces Out 2.8GHz Pentium E5500 and 3.6GHz Core i5-680 Processors

Labels: ,

Intel has just announced two more processors and we'll start with the slower one, the Pentium E5500. This CPU is clocked at 2.8GHz with 2MB of cache and it's running on the old 45nm architecture. Of course, this CPU does not have Hyperthreading or Turbo Boost. The more exciting processor is the Intel Core i5-680 which is clocked at 3.6GHz. It has two cores and can be overclocked to 3.86GHz thanks to Turbo Boost. There's also 4MB of Level 3 cache and it has Hyperthreading support.

The Pentium E5500 will be priced at $75 in bulk and the Core i5-680 will be priced at $294 in bulk. These should hit some stores and PCs in the near future.

US Cellular Set To Launch the LG Mystique and the Android-Based Samsung SCH-R880

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

US Cellular looks like they have a couple of more devices up their sleeve, this being the LG Mystique and the Samsung SCH-R880. The Mystique is said to be similar to the Lotus Elite so that's good news if you like the boxy shape. The Samsung SCH-R880 is reportedly running Android so this could be the other Android phone that US Cellular wanted us to "guess." This handset's specs are reportedly quite similar to the Samsung Moment so it could be the Samsung Moment 2, but it's not for sure right now. What we do know is that the SCH-R880 has hit the Bluetooth SIF and it's reportedly packing a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 3MP AF camera with a flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and Android 2.1.

BlackBerry OS 6.0 Details Leak Out, Webkit Browser and Multitouch; Coming In June / July!!

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

It looks like details on the BlackBerry OS 6.0 has just trickled out thanks to Boy Genius. If you just want to get straight to the point and read their lengthy post, then scroll down and check out their link - I won't mind. Anyways, this OS update is said to be rolling out in June / July and that's a "100%" guarantee. As you can see in the photo above there's a revamped home screen and below there's a photo of their new WebKit browser which should be amazing thanks to pinch-to-zoom and tabbed browsing. Of course, there's also kinetic browsing which is great news. There's social integration, multitouch support, a new media player, and a new photo viewer as well.

The photos are clearly large enough for this to be demoed on a touchscreen device so could it be the Storm / Bold slider (Mr. T) or the Storm 3? We do know that the OS was reportedly demoed by an "AT&T connect" which means that they're getting a touchscreen BB in the future (perfect for Rogers, Bell, and Telus in Canada). We don't know yet, but check out the Boy Genius link below for everything you need to know so far.

Motorola Announces Six Extremely Low-End Phones, Only Reveal One Picture

Labels:

Motorola has just announced six new phones, but they only showed pictures for one of them. They're all very low-end so if that's not what you're looking for then you can move on. The Motorola WX161 and the WX181 both sport an FM radio and an integrated flashlight. The WX181 is slightly better, obviously, and it features a miniscule 1.5-inch colour display - the WX161 has a 1.3-inch display. The Motorola WX260 (pictured above) sports a WAP browser and up to 11 hours of music playback. The WX290 is a handset with a 1.8-inch display, a camera, MMS support, a flashlight, a WAP browser, an FM radio, and Bluetooth support. All of these previously mentioned phones are in the candybar format.

The WX265 and the WX295 handsets are the exact same as the WX260 and the WX290, respectively, but they have a clamshell design. The release dates weren't mentioned and neither was the price. Of course, none of these handsets will be expensive. Check out the official word from Motorola here.

Google Chrome OS Netbooks To Be Priced At $300 - $400

Labels: , ,

Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt, has just mentioned that he believes their Chrome OS will be "the first significant OS outside of Windows to hit the market." That sounds to me like a cheap shot at Apple's Mac OS. Anyways, he also mentioned that netbooks running Chrome OS will cost you around $300 to $400 USD, which is the typical netbook price right now. Hopefully they can market these netbooks because the word needs to get out somehow.

Capcom Announces a Bunch of Games Including Marvel Vs Capcom 3, With Trailer!

Labels: , , ,

It was just a rumour last week and now Capcom has just gone out and announced Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, which is big news! We don't know anything about the game yet, but we do know that it'll get launched a year from now - Spring 2011. That's a long wait, unfortunately, and it'll be hitting the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Capcom also went on to announce Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, which will be released in Q1 2011. Capcom announced some Nintendo DS games as well: Okamiden (launch set for next year) and Ghost Trick Phantom Detective (launch set for next Winter). Everything else you need to know it below - via Ars Technica.

Update: The video above has been updated and it's now the first MvC 3 trailer. I got it from PS3Blog.

There's also some new details on the upcoming Dead Rising 2. The game will include co-op play, and a downloadable prologue dubbed Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be released exclusively on Xbox Live before the full game's August release. The game is set three years prior to the retail release and will introduce players to new protagonist Chuck Greene.
It was also announced that both Lost Planet 2 and Super Street Fighter IV will be getting launch day downloadable content. For SSF4, this will take the form of new costume packs, while a free Tournament Mode will also be available as a free download on June 15. Lost Planet 2, meanwhile, will be getting a new map pack.

Nintendo 3DS To Get Released This October?

Labels: , , ,

When Nintendo announced their 3DS they mentioned that it could be out in March 2011. Now the latest rumour states that this handheld will get announced at E3 and could actually be set to be released in October. I'm thinking that this is just a rumour right now because I don't really think that Nintendo will release this handheld in October, but you never know with these sort of things. This would make it perfect for a Christmas gift if you want, but let's see if it actually happens...

Motorola Flip Phone Running Android Underneath Android 2.1 Leaks Out

Labels: , , ,

We know that Motorola is backing Android quite a bit to try to get back in the game and what you see above could actually be their upcoming flip phone that's, of course, running Android. The flipping part is just a transparent cover over the display so it's not much really. The OS is said to be Android 2.1 underneath the MOTOBLUR and there's a 5MP camera that can apparently record 720p video. It may look like a cheap phone at first but it's a pretty solid phone if you're into the whole flipping concept.

Update: According to Engadget, two Motorola phones have actually surfaced. They're both below and you can clearly see that the one on right matches the one above. The one on the left is a new one and either of these prototypes are named the ZN4.
