4.3-Inch HTC "Pyramid" Hitting T-Mobile With HSPA+ and Dual-Core CPU This May?

Labels: , , , , ,

Coming from Android and Me and TmoNews is a rumour that HTC is working on a dual-core smartphone which is quite predictable but the information that they're getting is a bit more solid than that. They're hearing that the HTC "Pyramid" is going to feature a 4.3-inch qHD display, HSPA+ technology, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 chip which is a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz. That's pretty impressive. Apparently, this one will be hitting T-Mobile USA in Q2 (possibly May) 2011 and that's actually right around the corner.

Maybe we'll see it at MWC.

Labels: , , , ,

HP just released a short 9 second clip teaser for their event that'll take place in a week. Obviously, they never mentioned what this device is but you can bet that it's running webOS. We're hoping it's a tablet but it could be a smartphone which seems very unlikely. Yeah, it's probably a tablet.

Verizon's Palm Pre 2 (CDMA) Spotted In Cellebrite's System

Labels: , , , , , ,

A few days ago we heard that Verizon in the US no longer had any webOS Palm phones in stock. Well, today Pre Central got a screen cap of the CelleBrite system which blurrily shows that the Palm Pre 2 could be on the way soon. Yes, this is going to be just a CDMA model so maybe you'll want to wait until HP's webOS event which is taking place in about a week. Oh well. The only way Verizon will actually be able to sell Pre 2's is if they're free on contract. Too little, too late.

It was up for pre-orders before and now it's available. Yes, the Asus Eee Slate EP121 tablet running full-blown Windows 7 is now available for $999.99. That's the 32GB (SSD) model, the 64GB (SSD) model is going for $1,099.99. Beneath the large 12.1-inch (1,280 x 800 resolution) display, you'll be getting an Intel Core i5-470UM CPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel HD graphics, a miniHDMI port, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 3.0 support, a 2MP webcam, two USB 2.0 ports, a 2-in-1 card reader, a digitizer, a 4-cell battery that might only last about 4 hours, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

It looks like a decent tablet on paper but we're going to have to get someone to video review this one and see if Windows 7 works on this overpriced but powerful tablet. Check it out on Amazon.

T-Mobile Makes the 8.9-Inch LG G-Slate Official; Packing Tegra 2, 3D Support, and Honeycomb

Labels: , , , , , , ,

T-Mobile and LG just couldn't wait until MWC to tell us their great news. They have just officially announced the LG G-Slate which will be running on Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" and has goodies like an 8.9-inch display, a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset, and an HDMI port which will obviously output Full HD content easily. Other specs include a 1,280 x 720 resolution display, a 3D camera on the back, a 5MP rear-facing camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities, 32GB of internal storage, HSPA+ connectivity. The display itself is also 3D capable but you'll unfortunately have to wear glasses. Hopefully, this one works better than Dell's Streak 7 tablet - it can't get much worse. Price is unknown right now and it's expected to be available this Spring - whenever that is.

Sprint-Bound Samsung Android Handset Packs a Portrait QWERTY Keyboard

Labels: , , ,

Here's an interesting one. The phone you see above could be Samsung's competitor to the DROID Pro from Motorola. Yup, it's going to be running Android along with a portrait QWERTY keyboard. Of course, the picture above tells us no specs but it clearly has Sprint branding. Look out for this one to get official soon, probably at MWC which is in two weeks.
