BlackBerry Curve 8910 Passes FCC; Sticks With EDGE, No 3G

Labels: , , ,

Well, it looks like a new RIM smartphone has just popped up at the FCC. It has the exact same ID as the BB that got the Bluetooth SIG certificate a while ago. Unfortunately it doesn't have 3G support for some reason and it's only equipped with EDGE connectivity. This smartphone should have the optical trackpad though, so no trackball here. Check out the FCC filing here.

Apple Set To Unveil Tablet, iPhone OS 4.0, and iLife 2010 On January 27th

Labels: , ,

Apple has already confirmed that they'll be holding an event on January 27th and while they'll likely be unveiling their tablet that's not all they have up their sleeve. According to the latest rumour, Apple will also be unveiling iPhone OS 4.0 and even iLife 2010, which will likely involve touch-based gestures. We don't know what iPhone OS 4.0 will bring to the table so it's definitely just a rumour right now.

HTC Magic With a QWERTY Keyboard (Possibly Lancaster) Set To Launch Soon?

Labels: , , , ,

Remember the HTC Lancaster? Well, it was said to be a cancelled product but Cell Passion believes that it may just see the light of day after all. The HTC Lancaster looked like the HTC Magic but brought the addition of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. If you check out a newly spotted UA profile (here) you'll see that the Magic could be outed with a QWERTY keyboard. We don't know when and it's obviously unconfirmed but let's hope that Google isn't pushing this to be the Nexus Two - which is very unlikely.

Windows Mobile 7 Rumours; LG Apollo and HTC Obsession (Diamond 3?) Lead the Pack

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Well, this is a pretty big day for Windows Mobile 7 rumours. There'll reportedly be two versions of WinMo 7 - which you can check out at Engadget. Basically, there'll be a Windows Phone 7 Business Edition and a Windows Phone 7 Media Edition. The Business Edition is a "stripped down" version of the OS and the Media Edition will have things like HD media playback and capture, social-networking integration. The more interesting piece of news is the rumour of new future WinMo 7 handsets.

First up is the LG Apollo. This handset will reportedly feature a 3.8-inch AMOLED capacitive multi-touchscreen display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution, a 10MP AF camera with a flash and the ability to record 720p HD video, a Qualcomm QSD8650 1.3GHz CPU, CDMA / GSM connectivity (a world phone), 1GB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, a microSD card slot, and a 1,400 mAh battery. This is pretty impressive coming from LG and it should be one of their first WinMo 7 handsets since it should launch in August / September of this year.

Next up is the HTC Obsession which will feature a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive multi-touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera with a flash and the ability to record 720p HD video, a Qualcomm QSD8250 1GHz CPU, GSM / HSDPA connectivity, 512MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a 1,230 mAh battery. This one should be one of their first WinMo 7 handsets as well and it's set to launch in October of this year.

Update: According to WMPowerUser, the HTC Obsession may actually be launched on AT&T and T-Mobile as the HTC Diamond3

These specs are pretty damn impressive but will 720p displays even matter on such a small display? That's really not up to us to decide because it'll happen anyway.

Just yesterday we heard about Asus' plans to launch a 6-inch OLED e-book reader. Well, that's actually not all they're working on. Dubbed the DR-950, this e-book reader will feature a 9-inch display with a 1,024 x 768 resolution, text-to-speech, WiFi / HSPA connectivity, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 4GB of internal storage, stereo speakers, and an SD card slot. Apple Working On 22-Inch Multi-Touch iMac

Labels: , , ,

According to Digitimes, Apple is actually working on a 22-inch multitouch all-in-one PC (not pictured above). Clearly this means that the OS will have multi-touch support in the near future and it'll, of course, be an iMac. We don't know when it'll be available, but it should be later this year. Quanta will be manufacturing them and Sintek Photronic will be supplying the touchscreen displays. We don't know what kind of touchscreen technology Apple will be going for here so we'll have to wait and see. Let's just hope they don't have problems with this batch of iMacs.

Everything seems to be pointing to Mac OS X 10.7 supporting multitouch now which will be pretty sweet. Of course, considering the tablet and this new rumour.

This is looking to be a pretty sweet device that should hit AT&T later this year.

Nintendo DS2 Announcement In Under 8 Months? Launching In Less Than 15?

Labels: ,

The latest rumour has it that the successor to the Nintendo DS could be available in the next 15 months. The announcement? It could be as soon as 8 months from now. We don't know much about this new handheld from Nintendo but it could have some kind of motion-sensing gaming - maybe with an accelerometer - or maybe Wii-like, although I wouldn't know how that'll work.

This actually kind of sucks since the DSi XL hasn't even hit North America yet and my cousins are actually waiting for it.

Labels: , , , , ,

Remember that HTC A9292 WiMAX handset that we saw over a week ago? Well, Engadget's pulled some information on what this handset could be. Apparently it's being codenamed the HTC "Supersonic" right now and it'll feature a 4.3-inch display (not AMOLED) and quite possibly the Snapdragon CPU. It'll be running Android 2.1 with HTC's Sense UI but they still have some work to do since it's pretty buggy at the moment. The phone was reportedly spotted in white, but let's hope they launch it in black.

The Samsung Corby Beat M3710 will pack some basic features like a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, WiFi / Bluetooth support, a 3MP camera, 50MB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. The most interesting part about this handset could be the fact that it'll have a feature that you'll see more of on Samsung's own Bada OS and that's the Game Store.

This handset should be available for around $300 in February.
