More LG Star Photos Leak, Show Froyo With a Skinned UI and an HDMI Port

Labels: , , , , , ,

More photos of the LG Star has leaked today and this time it shows the smartphone alive! Yup, this time it's on and it's reportedly running Android 2.2 "Froyo" with some customized UI - no stock Android on here. However, we did hear that the OS is "nearly untouched" so maybe the customized UI doesn't slow down the phone too much. Inside you should find a Tegra 2 chipset along with the port below, that's an HDMI. In November, we heard that this smartphone would have an 8MP camera with Full HD (1080p) video recording, which is great to have.

5.5 and 10.8-Inch Sharp Galapagos Tablets Hitting Japan On December 10th

Labels: , , , , , ,

It looks like Sharp has finally decided to price and date their Galapagos tablets that we heard about back in September. The 5.5-inch model (1,024 x 600 resolution) and the 10.8-inch model (1,366 x 800 resolution) will be hitting Japan on December 10th for ¥39,800 ($474 USD) and ¥54,800 ($653 USD), respectively, which is a bit much to pay for. The displays - on paper - for both devices seem quite good though so if you're interested in quite an expensive Android tablet then you might want to give this one a few looks.

2011 MacBook Pro Refresh Could Feature SSD, No Optical Drive, and Light Peak

Labels: , , , , ,

Coming from Three Guys and a Podcast is word on the next-generation MacBook Pro and that it will likely be launched in April 2011. Apparently, Apple will be opting to go with SSD storage options that will go up to 512GB, which sounds great if they can keep the prices down to what they are right now. Other changes are said to be no optical (CD/DVD) drive), Intel's upcoming Sandy Bridge CPUs, and the introduction of Light Peak. We don't know if FireWire will still be on-board but USB 3.0 should be. This is all sounding like great news right now but everything's unconfirmed for the moment.

Other improvements could include a touchscreen display since you may be able to upgrade this to "Lion" when it ships in the Summer.

Windows Phone 7 Update Will Be Massive, Possibly Includes Copy / Paste and Multitasking

Labels: , ,

On Twitter, news is breaking out that Microsoft has a big update coming up for Windows Phone 7. Apparently, Microsoft's update will be huge. Microsoft has been said to be working on this for at least three months and is equivalent to what Apple has done in 3 years with iOS. Rumoured features are said to include some form of multitasking, copy and paste, bing turn-by-turn directions, and custom ringtones. Hopefully, they have a few more updates in the pipe, but these few are definitely a great start.

LG has just revealed their latest Android-based smartphone, dubbed the LU3000. This one's going to be hitting Korea-only (for now, at least) and actually packs quite the spec sheet making it the smartphone to catch up to. Specs include: a 3.8-inch IPS WVGA touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash (with 1080p Full HD video capture), an HDMI port, a 1GHz TI OMAP 360 CPU, and version 2.2 of the Android OS. Hopefully, this will hit other regions in the near future as well because this one's looking like the Galaxy S 2's first competition.

Update: Check out the video that leaked below as well! This shows it against the Galaxy S and the iPhone 4. It wins, silently and decisively.
