CTIA has just started and AT&T in the US has just announced five new Android phones. First off, the Motorola Atrix 2 took the stage. This one is just like the rumours suggested: a 4.3-inch qHD display, an 8MP camera, a front-facing camera, HSPA+ support (up to 21Mbps), and Android "Gingerbread". Next up is the Samsung Captivate Glide (above) which sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, an 8MP camera, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps), a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.3 with the Touchwiz UI.

The unique Samsung DoubleTime and Pantech Pocket were introduced afterwards. The DoubleTime features a clamshell design with a QWERTY keyboard, external and internal touchscreen displays, a Qualcomm 600MHz CPU, and Android 2.2. This one should be a cheap one because that's what it looks like. The Pocket, on the other hand, is a basic touchscreen phone but it packs a unique 4-inch SVGA (800 x 600 resolution) display. Other specs for this one include: a 1GHz CPU, a 5MP camera, and Android 2.3. This one will be available on November 6th for an unknown price.

Lastly, there's the ZTE phone which will be the AT&T Avail. This one features a 3.5-inch display, a 5MP camera, 512MB of RAM, and Android 2.3 "Gingerbread". This will be available on the carrier's prepaid line-up for an unknown price. That's a lot to take in this early into the event so this might be a big one!

ViewSonic has decided to unveil their latest Android phone today. This one's the V430 which features a 4.3-inch WVGA display, a 5MP camera, a front-facing VGA camera, WiFi / Bluetooth support, a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". We don't know the price for this smartphone right now but it'll be hitting Russia in the future.

The good folks over at The Cellular Guru have just been tipped that WIND Mobile will be releasing their latest phone on September 15th. It's going to be the Alcatel One Touch 908s. This one features a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 2MP camera, GPS / WiFi / Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.2 "Froyo".

AT&T has just announced the Huawei Impulse 4G which is a mid-end Android phone. This features a 3.8-inch WVGA display, a 5MP camera, HSPA+ connectivity, and Android 2.2. The Impulse 4G can be yours starting on September 18th for just $29.99 on a 2-year contract. Data plans for this one start at $15 monthly.

Tech Crunch's own MG Siegler has reported that he has played with the upcoming Android-based Kindle even though he wasn't able to take any photos of it. If you believe him, he says a bunch of things about the upcoming tablet turned e-book reader. He says it looks a whole lot like the BlackBerry Playbook, that it'll simply be called the Amazon Kindle, and the company has transformed the Android (2.2) OS completely into their own simple UI. The tablet is said to be a 7-inch model which could hit the market in October / November for $250 which is half the price of the entry-level iPad 2 and cheaper than almost every other tablet out there right now.

Of course, the tablet is sporting a backlit display so the battery life is up in the air and it'll effect your eyes a lot more than an e-ink display would. The CPU is unknown right now but it could be a single-core CPU to keep the cost down and because you'll mostly be reading on it anyway. He also mentioned that the 10-inch model is expected in Q1 2012 but only if this 7-inch model is a success. They're betting it all on this one.

We already knew it was on the way and Fido has just released it. The Canadian carrier has just released the LG Optimus 2X. This smartphone runs Android 2.2 and will reportedly get an upgrade to 2.3 soon. This features a 4-inch display, a Tegra 2 CPU, a microSD card slot, an 8MP camera, and WiFi / Bluetooth support. It's available right now for $100 on a 3-year contract and $425 contract-free. Check it out on Fido.

Walmart has just leaked something that should be headed to AT&T. Yup, it looks like it'll be the Sharp FX Plus which looks like it'll feature Android 2.2. This 3.2-inch smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard should be launching soon and should actually be cheap as well. It might be something good for you text messaging folk out there.

Huawei looks like they're planning to launch another low-end Android "Froyo" handset soon and this one's being codenamed the "Gaga" (X1 U8180). This handset features a 528MHz CPU, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera, WiFi support, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. Check it out at the FCC.

Cincinnati Bell has just released their first 4G (HSPA+) handset and it's the Huawei Ascend X. This one features a 4.1-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz CPU, 2GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of ROM, a 5MP camera, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". The handset is now available for $99.99 on a 2-year contract. It looks like the LG Genesis will be available soon since it has just found a home on the official website. This handset features a 3.5-inch external / 3.2-inch internal touchscreen display along with a QWERTY keyboard if you don't like typing on a virtual one. Inside you'll find a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 430MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (8GB in the box), DLNA, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". This one should be hitting US Cellular soon. If you're willing to get a tablet that's running Android 2.2 then you might want to take a look at the Streak 7 which is now available in Canada. The tablet sports a Tegra 2 CPU, a 7-inch display, dual cameras, WiFi / Bluetooth support, 16GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. The tablet is available right now for $399.99 which is a decent price - until we get the Asus Transformer up here. Check out the tablet on Dell.

LG has just released the Optimus 3G on Telus in Canada if you're looking for a new mid-end Android handset. This one features a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera, WiFi / Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.2 with a custom UI. The handset is now available for free on a 3-year contract and for a whopping $529.99 contract-free - Mobile Syrup points out that the Nexus S is cheaper contract-free. You may have seen this handset before as it was rumoured to be hitting Verizon in the US. It doesn't look like that'll be the case anymore since Android Central is now saying that it's on its way to US Cellular. The LG Genesis is the enV Pro that's running Android 2.2 "Froyo". The rest of the specs include a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 3.5-inch external touchscreen display, a 3.2-inch internal display, a QWERTY keyboard, a microSD card slot (8GB included), and DLNA. The price and release date is unknown right now but maybe we'll hear about that soon.

Update: Android Central has now snagged more information about this handset. They've picked up the image below which tells us that it's not a clamshell handset. This one actually features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Other specs include Flash 10.1 support, a 5MP AF camera, and WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth support.

It looks like Dell plans to release the Streak 7 Android tablet in Canada and it looks like it'll cost $449.99. This tablet packs a 7-inch display, a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 CPU, a 5MP AF camera with a flash, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.2. Sadly, it's not "Honeycomb" and the Eee Pad Transformer will be launching with a cheaper price tag. The choice is obvious. If you're somehow still interested then check it out on Dell.

Update: Unwired View has just pointed out that you can actually order this one right now. The price has actually dropped $50 to just $399.

As expected, AT&T in the US has just released their own LG Optimus One variants. The LG Thrive, above, is the GoPhone aka the prepaid phone, while the LG Phoenix is available for $49.99 on a 2-year contract. Both of these phones are available with Froyo pre-loaded and apparently these will get Gingerbread in the distant future. Check them out on AT&T.

Verizon employees may be happy or sad right now because it looks like their training for the Samsung DROID Charge right now. Unfortunately, we still don't know when it'll be available but at least we know that it should be in the next few weeks. Furthermore, this handset will reportedly support up to 10 devices with its WiFi hotspot capabilities. Make sure you have about $299 handy though, because that's the rumoured price for this one.

This smartphone features a 4-inch display, 8GB of internal storage, WiFi b/g/n support, an 8MP camera with 1080p Full HD video recording, a microSD card slot, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and Android 2.2. If you're interested in getting your child something then you might want to give the Samsung-built T-Mobile Sidekick 4G a look. This handset packs a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3MP camera, a 0.3MP front-facing camera, 4G connectivity (HSPA+), a 1GHz CPU, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". If you want to pre-order one then you can check it out on Wirefly where it'll cost you $79.99 on a 2-year contract.

Notebook Italia has just pointed out something great if you're willing to take a risk on your latest Android tablet. Hannspree reportedly has their SN10T1 tablet somewhere on the market in Europe going for €399 - even though the roadmap says that it's €349. This tablet packs a 10.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, 16GB of internal storage, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and sadly just Android 2.2. Another model, the SN10T2 is expected sometime this quarter with a TI chip, 8GB of internal storage, and a camera. That one should launch for €299, which is right around $430. A bit high considering the Asus Transformer. However, their best tablet could be coming in Q3.

Taking a look at the roadmap above, the company is working on an Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" tablet that will be launching in various markets sometime in Q3, later this year. This one will cleverly be called the SN10T3 and pack a 10.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 600 resolution, a Tegra 2 CPU, 16GB of storage, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and a camera. We don't know how responsive it'll be, but we'll find out in a few months when someone gets a hands-on. This one will reportedly launch for €449, which is just about $650.
