FaceVision Launching 1080p Capable Video Card Using Your ExpressCard Slot

Labels: , , , , , ,

Bringing HD to netbooks is a big thing right now and Nvidia started it out with their Ion graphics. Another company plans to bring HD to netbooks [and notebooks] without the need of an internal graphics chipset. At IFA, FaceVision has shown off that they can bring 1080p HD to netbooks with an ExpressCard slot.

"Quanta subsidiary FaceVision is launching a card that you can plug into a notebook or netbook that will add the ability to play 1080[p] videos in the H.264 format." We don't know when this will launch and we also don't know the price, so in the meantime you'll just have to check it out on video below.

An LED TV + A 7-Inch Smaller TV = Samsung LED TV Couple

Labels: , , , ,

Samsung has just unveiled an interesting new device at IFA this year. What you see above is the LED TV Couple. Check out what it can do below.

In simple words, Samsung will bundle a LED TV with a portable LED TV with a 7-inch screen. Use? Well, with the integration of Wi-Fi 802.11n, users can stream videos directly on the small TV and effectively watch two different things at the same time. But for any reason, if that feature seems a bit useless to you the LED TV Couple allows access to multimedia content from the internet, local PCs or USB devices through PC Content Sharing technology.
Other uses of the 7-inch display is that it can work as a remote control for the main TV set or can also work as a digital frame.

It definitely sounds interesting, but we haven't heard the mention of a price or a release date.

Lucky Palm Pre Owner Gets WebOS 1.2, Spills Some Details

Labels: , , , ,

Just read what this lucky guy said below.

You know, sometimes if you just study hard, keep your nose clean, and stay away from the pirate cable TV business, fate will do you a solid. For instance, check this post by PreCentral forum member go4craig. Today, the hapless youngster innocently applied webOS Doctor in a bid to reset his phone back to factory and wouldn't ya know it? When all was said and done, the phone's operating system was upgraded to webOS 1.2. And what's more, the maneuver has been repeated successfully by a handful of other forum members.

Clearly, this guy looks like he just got WebOS version 1.2 on his Pre. The best part is that he took some screenshots of the new OS. It looks like there will be paid Apps for the Palm Pre in the near future, which is shown in the top right "Add Credit Card" picture. It also looks like there are also some GPS service changes, little tweaks, and "much improved (zoom animation)." Unfortunately, the leak has been "pluggged" in the meantime, but let's hope we get the official release soon.

China-Based XZX 11.1-Inch Netbook Expected to Hit China For Under $300

Labels: ,

China-based XZX has just announced their latest netbook. This netbook will have: an 11.1-inch display, an Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, two USB 2.0 ports, and a mini Display port. In addition, this netbook looks similar to the MacBook Air, but it's even closer to the Asus Eee PC 1008HA.

Some negative things about this netbook is that it: has a pink colour, doesn't have an Ethernet jack, has a non-removable 2,700 mAh battery, has no VGA port, and has the touchpad buttons on the right and left side which is a little bit different from the traditional underneath the trackpad location.

Fortunately, this netbook is just 0.93 inches thick and just 2.4 pounds. This netbook will be retailing for under $300 when it gets released.

Nokia has just announced that they have sold 2 million N97's ever since it went on sale in June. Even more surprisingly, the 5800 and the N97 combined have sold 10 million units combined in the past 10 months. These numbers are surprising to me.
