Big Verizon Leak: BlackBerry Storm 2 / Curve 2 (8530), LG Chocolate Touch, Samsung Rogue, Motorola Sholes

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Well, looky here, it's a new leak from Verizon and this one is huge. This screenshot above, tells us that the Samsung Rogue could be available sometime this month for $370 USD subsidized - Engadget says that it might not happen. The Nokia Twist 7705 - which could be the swiveling handset from a while ago - is expected to hit Verizon in late September for $230 and the Samsung Intensity should be available for $160 next month as well. The LG Chocolate Touch, BlackBerry Storm 2, HTC Razzle / Blitz 2, and the Android-based Motorola Sholes should be available in October. In late November we should be expecting the BlackBerry Curve 2, which could be the Curve 8530 - basically a CDMA version of the Curve 8520.

These dates may not be entirely accurate, but at least you have a slight clue as to when they'll be available.

Samsung Rogue U960 Making Its Way to Verizon Stores, Launching Soon!

Labels: , , , ,

The phone that has got many names looks like it's on its way to Verizon stores across the nation. Yes, I'm talking about the long-awaited SCH-U960 / Glyde 2 / Rogue. This handset looks like it could be in popular demand and it's definitely upgrade from the last Glyde. It looks superb with its: touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, GPS support, a 3MP camera, and EV-DO Rev. A support. The launch should be very, very soon, so look out for it.

New Pictures of the Verizon-Bound Samsung U450 and Rogue U960, Launching Soon

Labels: , , , ,

We've seen the Samsung U450 in Verizon's future phone line-up, but we actually haven't seen a picture of the handset - until today. The Samsung U450 is above and it clearly has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Other specs include: a numeric keypad, a 1.3MP camera, and Bluetooth capabilities. The shot above was taken from a Verizon system.

The other phone that has just been snapped in Verizon's systems is actually the Samsung Rogue U960. This picture is actually different than what we have seen before, so this could be a new look. Let's just hope that it's still rocking the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Personally, I like the old look better. By the way, both of these handsets are said to be launching soon - maybe August 23rd.

Big Leak: LG Chocolate Touch, Samsung Omnia 2, Samsung Rogue Coming on August 23rd?

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If this is true, August 23rd will be a big day for everyone in the US. It looks like a lot of phones are going to be available on that day, probably one of the biggest days of the year.

  • Samsung Gravity 2 (berry) — T-Mobile

  • Samsung Solstice — AT&T

  • LG Xenon (red) — AT&T

  • Global AirCard (G2) — Verizon

  • Samsung Rogue — Verizon

  • LG Chocolate Touch — Verizon

  • Samsung u450 Intensity — Verizon

  • Samsung Omnia 2 — Verizon

  • BlackBerry Tour — (new shipment, Sprint)

  • What did I tell you? The LG Chocolate Touch is more than likely the LG BL40; the Samsung Omnia 2 is probably the I8000 Omnia II; the Samsung Rogue is basically what it says it is. What's also fairly interesting is that at the top there's an "M330" listed to be available on September 3rd and we've actually heard nothing about it before. Let's hope this leak stays true to its word!

Samsung Rogue U960 Not on Verizon's August Rebate Form, Could be Delayed

    Labels: , , , ,

This could be bad news. Unfortunately, the Samsung Rogue U960 / Glyde 2 / SCH-U960 is not on Verizon's latest rebate form, which is effective from August 2nd until September 7th. The Rogue U960 is rumoured to be available on August 15th so, like I said, this could be bad news. Yes, it could be delayed. The good news is that - in the past - Verizon have updated their rebate forms, so they could eventually do it. Don't forget that it's only 12 days until the 15th.

Verizon Slashes Almost All of Their Smartphone Prices to $99

    Labels: , , , , , , , ,

If you check out Verizon Wireless' official website, they've dropped almost all of their smartphone prices to $99 USD. Here's a timeline of some of their upcoming phones, if you're interested. The Touch Pro 2 looks like it'll be here sooner rather than later since the original Touch Pro dropped from $419 USD to $99 USD. The only smartphones over $99 USD now is the BlackBerry Tour and the Samsung Saga. Let's hope the Samsung Rogue U960 is on the way. Like I said, check out Verizon Wireless' website for more information.

More Pictures of the Samsung Rogue U960 Pop Up

    Labels: , , , ,

We heard earlier this morning that the Samsung Rogue U960 would be launching on Verizon on August 15th. And now, we have more pictures of the upcoming phone. It still looks like a decent looking phone, but I just thought that I'd give you some more pictures of this handset, since a lot of people seem interested in it.

Verizon Releasing the Samsung Rogue U960 on August 15th, Verizon Razzle on August 31st

    Labels: , , , , ,

We already know that the Samsung Rogue U960 will be hitting Verizon next month (August), but we didn't know exactly when. Apparently though, this handset will be launching on August 15th on Verizon. We haven't heard a price tag yet, but we'll probably have that soon.

Another handset that's scheduled to hit Verizon next month is the Verizon Razzle. It's scheduled to hit Verizon on August 31st and will replace the Blitz. The Razzle has: 1.3MP camera, a full QWERTY keyboard, Stereo Bluetooth, and a bundled 1GB memory card. The price tag for this is also not mentioned.

Verizon Posts 21% Profit Drop, Laying Off 8,000 Employees, But Bright Future?

    Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Looks like it was a bad second quarter for Verizon. Their profits dove down 21% and they have just reported that they will be laying off around 8,000 employees by the end of 2009. And that sucks. The good news is that they look like they could have a strong future. They reaffirmed that they are launching the Palm Pre in early 2010. It looks like they could be launching the Apple tablet by the end of this year / early next year too. They are going to launch the BlackBerry Storm 2 / Thunder in the near future. They could also launch the LG BL40, which will also be a great addition to their line-up. The Samsung Rogue U960, HTC XV6875 (HTC Touch Pro 2), and HTC XV6975 (HTC Touch Diamond 2) looks like it will also get launched as well. The future doesn't look so dim for Verizon - at least, for their sake, I hope.

Verizon Pushing Out a List of Phones Before Year's End

    Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

According to the latest rumour, this is the list of Verizon's upcoming phones for the year. Take a look at the list below, courtesy of Boy Genius.

    • LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 - Full touchscreen, might be like the BL40
    • BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 - October-November release
    • Nokia Shade 2705 - Replaces the Mirage 2605
    • Nokia Twist 7705 - This might be the swivel-style phone that has been rumored for months.
    • Palm Treo 800W - “Even though this was released for Sprint last year, Verizon may not have it out until February 2010.”
    • Motorola Entice (or Harmony) W766 - Replaces the W755
    • Samsung Rogue U960 - Replaces the Glyde U940, expected in August
    • Samsung U450 - Verizon Mobile TV-compatible
    • Samsung Strut U440 - QWERTY handset
    • Samsung Omnia-II i920 - Due out by Christmas
And a few PTT handsets to boot:
    • Motorola V860
    • Samsung Convoy U640
    • Casio Rock C731
    • Casio Brigade C741

The most interesting handsets on this list is: the LG Chocolate Touch that could actually be the LG BL40, the BlackBerry Storm 2 of course, the Rogue U960 aka SCH-U960 aka Glyde 2, and the Omnia II possibly the I8000 - like earlier rumours (not going to be available this month though). Keep in mind this list is just a rumour, but you can count on the Storm 2 launching this year. It looks like a pretty good list from Verizon Wireless.

Samsung SCH-U960 / Glyde 2 Gets Name Change to Samsung Rogue U960

    Labels: , , ,

The original Samsung Glyde wasn't as successful as Samsung hoped it would be, so they're going with a refresh with the next one. Once called the Samsung Glyde 2, the Samsung SCH-U960 will be launching as the Samsung Rogue U960. The specs look like they'll still be the same and it's rumoured to be available - on Verizon - next month (August). This model will have a resistive touchscreen so let's see how that works for Samsung...

Update on July 19: According to the latest rumour, this handset is expected to be available next month (August) on Verizon. For more information, check out this link.
