Samsung T989 Hercules Possibly Hits Bluetooth SIG and WiFi Alliance

Labels: , , , , , , ,

The Samsung (T989) Hercules may have just hit the Bluetooth SIG and the WiFi Alliance. The smartphone should be launching in Q4 of this year on T-Mobile USA. Specs are rumoured to be a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED+ WVGA display, a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM, an 8MP camera, a front-facing camera, an HDMI output, 4G, and Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" with the Touchwiz UI. Furthermore, it should also have NFC so it's kind of like an upgraded Infuse 4G.

Sharp SH8188U To Be Announced Soon With "Gingerbread"

Labels: , , ,

Sharp looks like they're almost set to launch their latest Android handset, the SH8188U. It's pictured above and it's said to feature a WVGA LCD display, a 5MP camera with an LED flash, a front-facing camera, a 1GHz CPU, an HDMI output, and Android 2.3.4. These pictures make the phone look cheap so hopefully Sharp touches it up for the press photos. The handset could be capable of running in North America but it packs 900/2100MHz bands for Europe / Asia so we'll have to wait for another model.

Samsung GT-i9020A Spotted At the Bluetooth SIG, Likely the Nexus S For AT&T

Labels: , , , , , ,

Thanks to Mobilicity's CEO (in Canada) we already know that at least four carriers in Canada will be getting the Google Nexus S running Android 2.3 "Gingerbread". If that's the case then the model they get could hit the US as well and that exact model would have 3G bands capable of running on AT&T. A new Bluetooth SIG filing, the GT-i9020A, may be what you're looking for. Seeing how the GT-i9020T is the T-Mobile version of the Nexus S then the 'A' in i9020A could be destined for AT&T. It just makes sense. It's unconfirmed right now but you can bet on it happening. The Nexus One hit most of the major carriers in the US so the Nexus S should as well.

Samsung GT-i9023 Hits the FCC, Could It Be a Nexus S With Android 2.4?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

A new smartphone has just hit the FCC and it's the Samsung GT-i9023. Engadget has just mentioned that this smartphone is shaped exactly like a Nexus S so it could be just that. This handset could be a "Black Silver" Nexus S model because that's what some European retailers have put it up as but it actually could be something a bit better.

The video below is coming from BestBoyZ and Engadget has theorized that the GT-i9023 that hit the FCC could actually be a Nexus S with Android 2.4 which should be the next version of Google's OS (called Ice Cream or Ice Cream Sandwich. It could also have some other improvements including a dual-core CPU (hopefully!) and HSPA+ connectivity for T-Mobile USA (the i9023 has AWS 3G support). Google's probably already testing whatever device this is so we'll really just have to wait. Maybe the unveiling will be at MWC or Google I/O. We'll have to wait and see.

Bluetooth SIG Filing For INQ Cloud Touch Says It Could Be the Facebook Phone

Labels: , , ,

Thanks to a Bluetooth SIG filing, the Facebook phone may actually be real and coming from INQ just like it was rumoured. Apparently, this handset, dubbed the INQ Cloud Touch, will be running on the Android platform and will have "Facebook build into its core". If that doesn't mean a Facebook phone then I don't know what that means. Specs are unknown right now, but it's coming from INQ so I'm going to assume that it'll be a mid-end and cheap device.

Pantech P8000 Android Phone Hits the FCC With AT&T 3G Support

Labels: , , , , ,

A new Pantech handset has just hit the FCC and gotten checked out at the Bluetooth SIG. Dubbed the P8000, this handset has 3G support on 820/1900MHz bands which is perfect for AT&T in the US and the three major carriers in Canada. This will be an Android handset but it doesn't look like it'll be a high-end one so it'll be a budget one. Specs, price, and release date are still unknown right now, but if you're a power user then you might want to just move along. Check it out at the Bluetooth SIG and FCC.

Nokia X2-01 Could Be Hitting North America, Says Bluetooth SIG

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like the Nokia X2-01 has a shot of hitting North America according to some Bluetooth SIG and FCC filings. The first one is the RM-709 (here) and the second one is the RM-717 (here) which could be the North American model. This should be a cheap one since the FCC filing (here) has quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity but does not have support for 3G. Specs for this handset include a 2.4-inch display, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1 (no WiFi) support, a VGA camera, an FM radio with RDS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Dell Thunder To Launch as the Dell Venue Says the FCC

Labels: , , , , , ,

The first thing I thought of when the Dell Venue Pro got official was what the non-Pro model was. It looks like my question may have been answered. Apparently, the Dell Thunder, which has popped up a couple of times, may actually launch as the Dell Venue (V03B) according to the FCC. Specs are just about the same except this one doesn't have a portrait slide-up QWERTY keyboard. The weird thing about this whole fiasco is that the Venue / Thunder will be running Android, while the Venue Pro is running on Windows Phone 7. Check it out at the FCC and it has also been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG.

Motorola MB860 "Olympus" Hits the WiFi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG, Could It Be the Tegra 2 Smartphone?

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Something with the codename MB860 has just gotten certified by the WiFi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG. Of course, this one's coming from Motorola and it's a smartphone of some sort. It should be running Android, but the version it'll be running is still unknown. The codename for this device is the Olympus which doesn't tell us much. Rumour has it that this smartphone is Motorola's Tegra 2 based smartphone but that's unconfirmed right now.

LG C900 Leaks Out, Headed To AT&T With Windows Phone 7 and All

Labels: , , , , , ,

For Engadget's third exclusive piece of the day they've got their hands-on another Windows Phone 7 device (just pictures) and this time it's coming from LG, the C900. Two weeks ago we heard that AT&T was testing this phone and this turns out to be true. As you can see in the image below, one of tiles have the AT&T logo in it so it's definitely headed there. It has the LG look to it (cheap and platicky) and the keyboard seems to be one of the better crafted ones out there, a 4-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard that looks easy enough to type on.

Update: According to Engadget, LG could be planning to unveil the C900 around the September 28th date. This is judging on the tip coming from the Bluetooth SIG.

Motorola Sage Revealed By the FCC (and Bluetooth SIG) On Its Way To AT&T, First Picture Pops Up

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Thanks to the FCC, a new Android phone may be headed to AT&T as the Motorola Sage. This handset is going to feature WiFi / Bluetooth support, aGPS, a digital compass, quad-band EDGE connectivity, and HSDPA / HSUPA compatibility. Of course, it's running on bands that could work on Rogers in Canada as well, so you never know. We might get love up North too.

Update: According to Unwired View, the handset pictured above is the Motorola (MB508) Sage. This is a basic phone which sports a 3.1-inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 resolution, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.1. This picture was just spotted at the Bluetooth SIG here. That's all we know about the handset so far. It seems like that square on the phone could be an optical trackpad of sorts. Nothing is confirmed that the MB508 is the Sage but the image spotted on the Bluetooth SIG is named Sage.jpg so that's a clue.

Motorola WX415 Headed To Boost Mobile, Finch W418g Hits the Bluetooth SIG -- Nothing Impressive.

Two new Motorola handsets have been detailed just a little bit more. They're both entry-level flip phones and the first one is the WX415. We first heard about this handset over two months ago and this time we know that it's headed to Boost Mobile in the US - it has CDMA connectivity. Specs are really simple: Bluetooth, an external and internal display, and a camera on the back.

The second handset that has popped up today is the Motorola Finch W418g. This flip phone is said to feature a 1.8-inch internal display. GSM/GPRS connectivity, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, and a 2MP camera. The handset itself hasn't been announced yet but it just hit the Bluetooth SIG (here).

Labels: , , , , , ,

In case you were skeptical about the Samsung YP-MB2 being a Galaxy S PMP then here's a bit more proof. Like the Galaxy S, the YP-MB2 PMP has just been confirmed to have Bluetooth 3.0 support. This could get launched as the Galaxy Touch in case you're keeping up. Samsung is supposed to be announcing this PMP in August - about a month before Apple refreshes their iPod line-up.

Nokia E5 Hits the FCC and Gets Its Bluetooth SIG Certificate

Labels: , , ,

The Nokia E5 has just been spotted at the FCC (filing here), and it has the model number RM-632. There's actually another model of this handset that was spotted at the Bluetooth SIG (here) as well - the RM-634. This model is more desirable to us in North America because it has 850 / 1900 MHz bands which is destined for North America, Australia, and South America.

In case you forgot, this handset is sporting a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a QWERTY keyboard, WiFi / aGPS support, HSDPA / HSUPA connectivity, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 5MP camera with an LED flash, 250MB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot (2GB in the box).

Motorola has just let two of their upcoming handsets slip out thanks to the Bluetooth SIG. First off is the one you see above, dubbed the Goldfinch. The other handset is below, the Bei Hai is likely headed to China. It'll be equipped with a 5MP camera with (720p) HD video recording, Bluetooth 2.1 support, WiFi / GPS, and an HDMI port. Labels: , , , ,

All the buzz seems to be around the Motorola DROID Shadow right now but Motorola has something else up their sleeve. It's unknown what version it'll be running right now, but I assume that it'll be version 2.1. It may not be as high-end as the Shadow but it's still something to keep your eye out for.

A new Motorola handset has just been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG (here) and it's the WX404. This handset reportedly features a landscape display, Bluetooth 2.1 support, and a 2MP camera. Samsung (S8500) Wave Likely Hitting North America In the Future

Labels: , , , , , , ,

We already know that the Samsung (S8500) Wave will be hitting Europe in the near future, but what about us in North America. The good news is that the handset could be hitting our region in the future as well, seeing how the Bluetooth SIG has just approved the GT-S8500R and the GT-S8500M which mentions that it'll get launched in North America. Now we play the waiting game.

Samsung U460 Gets FCC and Bluetooth SIG Certificate, Hitting Verizon

Labels: , , , ,

Another Samsung handset is headed to Verizon and it's the U460, possibly the successor to the Intensity U450. This handset has already passed the FCC and the Bluetooth SIG. It packs a 1.3MP camera, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, CDMA 1x connectivity, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support. Sadly, it's not a much of an improvement. This shouldn't be expensive whenever it hits the carrier.
