The Trophy is expected to have a 3-inch capacitive toucshcreen VGA display, a full QWERTY keypad, and Windows Mobile 6.5. Other specs include WiFi b/g / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, a 5MP AF camera, a Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz CPU, quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity, aGPS support, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. Leaked Photo of the HTC Espresso, Set To Become the myTouch Slide On T-Mobile

Labels: , , , ,

Since we now know that the HTC Espresso won't be the Hero's successor - that'll be the Legend - this picture above is hinting at what it will be. It looks like it'll be launched on T-Mobile as the myTouch Slide or the myTouch2. This handset will feature a 320 x 480 resolution touchscreen display, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an ARM11 CPU (possibly the Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz CPU), a camera with an LED flash, a microSD card slot, Android, and a 1,300mAh battery. As you can also see the trackball is gone and is replaced by an optical trackpad.

If the rumours were true this handset should be available on May 17th in black, white, and red models - similar to the current myTouch 3G.

Motorola MOTOCUBO A45 Now Available In the US For $160, Without WiFi and 3G Though

Labels: ,

Without any details on where to scoop up the phone, Fone Arena has mentioned that the Motorola MOTOCUBO A45 is now available in the US for around $159. As you can see this handset is a slider that contains a QWERTY keypad. It's got a 2.5-inch display with a 320 x 240 resolution, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 32MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth support, GPRS / EDGE connectivity, a 2MP camera with video recording capabilities, an FM radio with RDS support, and a 930mAh battery. It's lacking both WiFi and 3G support so that would explain the cheap price.

Microsoft Confirms Windows Mobile 7 At MWC; Caught Running On i-Mate JASJAR?

Labels: , , , , ,

Microsoft has finally mentioned and confirmed that Windows Mobile 7 will make an appearance at MWC 2010. This is great news since a lot of people have been wondering "what's up?" with Microsoft's upcoming update to their mobile OS. WinMo 7 should have multitouch support and could bring things like integration with Xbox Live and all of those popular social networking sites. WinMo 7 is also expected to feature minimal requirements such as a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 8GB of internal storage, an 800 x 480 touchscreen display, 3G / WiFi / GPS support. They're definitely going after the high-end market with their next mobile OS which should put pressure on the future of Android and the iPhone.

MWC kicks off on February 15th so mark it on your calendars.

Update: According to Unwired View, a new picture has been surfacing online of an old-school i-mate JASJAR running Windows Mobile 7 (above). This is actually extremely weird since the minimal specs for WinMo 7 are way more than what this phone can handle. The JASJAR only has 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM. Apparently the minimal specs we heard are actually inaccurate. The "new" supposed list of requirements (and recommendations) are below.

  • Minimum RAM: 128MB (at least 256MB is recommended though)
  • Minimum ROM: 512MB
  • CPU: 600MHz ARM v6+
  • 3.6 inch display is not a requirement
  • WVGA resolution is not necessary – WM7 phones will have various resolutions, including QVGA
  • Compass is not a requirement (although it’s recommended)
  • G-Sensor (accelerometer) is also not a requirement, but it’s recommended

Apple Patent Hits At Video Recording On Future iPod Touch

Labels: , , , ,

This should surprise no one. It looks like Apple has been given the green light by the US Patent Office to add a camera along with video recording capabilities on the next iPod Touch. Let's just hope that it also snaps photos as well - unlike the latest iPod Nano with a camera.

On a side note, they also applied for a patent having to do with LED-backlight technology. This will be implemented in their upcoming iPad.

Toshiba TG02 Spotted At the FCC, Making a Showing At MWC?

Labels: , , ,

Hmm, so what could this be? If you read the title, it looks like it could very well be the upcoming successor to the Toshiba TG01 - the TG02. No specs are outlined but we do know that it'll have quad-band GSM connectivity, and GPS / WiFi / Bluetooth support. Unfortunately it looks like it doesn't have American 3G support, which sucks. Let's hope the TG02 makes an arrival at MWC in a couple of weeks; let's also hope that they announce a North American model with 3G support. Check out the FCC filing here.

Motorola Confirms Working On the Next Google Phone, Possibly Nexus Two

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like the rumour proved to be true. Motorola's CEO, Sanjay Jha, has just confirmed that they are indeed looking to launch the next Google phone that "will be sold directly to consumers." This will likely end up being the Google Nexus Two. We don't know what this model will look like, but it could be something like what you see above which is the rumoured Motorola Shadow. The next handset in the Nexus line is rumoured to have a QWERTY keyboard so it could work. We'll just have to see what happens cause this could be the Nexus One "Enterprise model" or something like that.

13.4-Inch Dell Adamo Notebook Now Starts At $999

Labels: , ,

The Dell Adamo is a pricey MacBook Air competitor, or at least it was. Dell has thankfully cut the base model price of their Adamo notebook so it's not just $999. This will get you a 13.4-inch WLED display, an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.4GHz CPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 128GB SSD, and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). You can step it up though to the $1,799 model which will give you a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a $256GB SSD. For comparison's sake, this is $500 cheaper than it was in October. Check it out on Dell here.

Alienware M11x Gaming Netbook To Start At $799, M15x and M17x Available With Core i7 CPU Options

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

We already knew that the Alienware M11x would be launching for less than $1,000 so many assumed - including me - that the base model would cost $999. Thankfully, Dell has managed to mention the official price and it will start at $799 USD. It's got the netbook look to it (sort of), but it blows other netbooks out of the water since it's a gaming netbook. It's sporting an 11-inch display, an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPU, swappable Nvidia GeForce GT335M graphics, and a battery life that should last 6.5 hours (only 2 hours of gaming though). It's pretty impressive and it'll weigh 4.5 pounds. The exact release date wasn't mentioned so you'll have to wait a little bit longer.

Update: According to Engadget, it looks like the Alienware M15x and M17x notebooks are now available with Intel's new Core i7 CPUs. The're available for $1,199 and $1,799, respectively; check out the M15x here and M17x here.

Samsung S5620 (Monte) Pictures Pop Up, Launching In March For $200

Labels: ,

Another Samsung phone has just been brought up from the ashes, this time it's the Samsung S5620 (Monte). Unfortunately it won't be running Android and it won't be running their upcoming Bada OS either. The S5620 will feature a 3-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi / 3G / GPS support, 200MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, HSDPA connectivity, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Touchwiz UI. We'll likely see it at MWC but this looks like it'll be a phone that will be overshadowed by everything else there.

Update: According to Samsung Hub, they've scooped up a bit more information on this handset. This will be available sometime in March for around $200.

T-Mobile Germany Confirms That They're Launching the XPERIA X10 In April

Labels: , , , , , , ,

T-Mobile Germany has just confirmed that they will be launching the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 in April. The price wasn't mentioned but we already know how powerful this smartphone will be. It looks like SE is sticking to Android 1.6 on this handset which is a let down.

[The Unwired]

Samsung Galaxy 2 Pictured; 1GHz Snapdragon, 32GB of Internal Memory, and Android 2.1

Labels: , , , , ,

Apparently what you see above is the Samsung Galaxy 2 and it'll be their next Android phone. The specs are reportedly going to be a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 32GB of internal storage, a 5MP camera, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.1. The spec sheet is pretty impressive - considering that it'll reportedly have 32GB of internal memory plus a microSD card slot. The 3.7-inch display also tells us that Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-Review was wrong. I'm just hoping that they show it off at MWC in a couple of weeks.

To me it actually looks like a Nexus One without the trackball, so let's see if this is a real picture.

Dell Mini 5 MID Shown Off By Michael Dell, Launching For $1,100 Pre-Subsidies?

Labels: , , , ,

Not much is revealed in the video below but Michael Dell did go on and confirm that their Streak MID will be launching as the Dell Mini 5 "in a couple of months." He didn't confirm the Snapdragon, but it's looking really smooth so that could really be the case. It's also reportedly launching with Android 1.6 which is bad news.

Off camera he apparently revealed that this MID will cost a whopping $1,100 USD before subsidies, so there goes everyone's hopes and dreams.

Dell Mini 5 / Streak MID Prototype Now On Sale On the Shenzhen Black Market

Labels: , , , , , ,

It looks like the Dell Mini 5 / Streak MID has made it to Shenzhen in China. Unfortunately, this model is actually the protoype and it's being named the M01M deep in the black market. The specs should be the exact same as the Mini 5 when it actually launches - except they better update the version of Android to 2.0. The specs are as follows: a 5-inch touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, WiFi / Bluetooth / 3G support, a 5MP camera with a dual-LED flash, a front-facing camera, a 1,530mAh battery, and Android 1.6. If you want to get one of these it's 7,500 Yuan, which is about $1,100 USD. It should launch for more cheaper than that, so we'll have to wait and see what the final price will be.

OLPC XO 1.5 Netbook Passes FCC, Good For Developing Countries

Labels: , ,

Okay so it's not the awesome OLPC 3.0 that we hope for in the future but something did pass the FCC. It's the OLPC XO 1.5 which will be a netbook. It's got some basic specs like a VIA C7-M CPU, WiFi b/g support, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of flash storage on-board. This isn't intended to be a mainstream netbook since it's designed to be cheap and directed for the developing countries. Check out the FCC filing here.

Firefox For Android Possibly Making Its Debut Next Month

Labels: , , , , ,

These reports are unconfirmed but the latest rumour is that Firefox for Android could be available as soon as this February. Of course, it'll still be in beta form but at least it'll be usable. This would be a great boost for Android but we'll see how it fares up against the built-in browser in Android. Maybe we'll see it at MWC.

Gigabyte Unveils Booktop M1305 Notebook, Set For Japan Launch Next Month

Labels: , ,

Gigabyte has just unveiled their latest notebook which is set to launch in Japan in a couple of weeks. The Booktop M1305 will be packing a 13.3-inch XGA LED-backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 ULV 1.4GHz CPU, Nvidia GeForce GT220 graphics, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB HDD, a 4-in-1 card reader, a fingerprint reader, an eSATA / USB port, more USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI / D-Sub port, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR / WiFi b/g/n support, and Windows 7.

Quite a lengthy spec sheet and I'm hoping that this won't have a hefty price tag. This notebook will be available in Japan in the middle of February. Unfortunately, the price is still TBA.

Tegra 2-Based MSI Tablet Set For H2 2010 Launch, Projected To Be $500

Labels: , , ,

Maybe it's not such a bad time for MSI to unveil their Tegra 2-based tablet - since a lot of people are bashing the iPad so far. The full spec sheet wasn't mentioned, but we do know that it'll feature a 10-inch display. This tablet will be available in the second half of this year and will cost around $500 - hopefully with both 3G and WiFi support. The Tegra 2 chip should be extremely fast and should handle 1080p content well, but let's hope that the battery life will be on par - or better - than the iPad's projected 10-hours.

Up to this point I still don't find the need to have a tablet in my arsenal.

The iPad [3G] Accessories Pictured and Priced

Labels: , , , , ,

This is unconfirmed right now but iLounge has scooped a couple of photos of the dock, keyboard dock (above), and the new case for the iPad (below). In case you forgot Apple never mentioned a price about any of the iPad accessories. According to iLounge the keyboard dock costs $70, the case is $40, the SD/USB (Camera Connection Kit) costs $30, and the VGA display adapter costs $30. If only Apple added more ports to the tablet...

BlackBerry Magnum Pictured and Caught On Video For a Bit

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like a new video has been spotted online for you BlackBerry lovers out there. It's the BlackBerry Magnum which is like a Bold and a Storm wrapped into one. It's got the Bold 9000 look and keyboard with a touchscreen of the Storm (with SurePress). If we're lucky enough the Magnum (or possibly updated Dakota) will make an appearance at MWC this year. Check out the video below.

Google Nexus One Bluetooth Dock Now Available For $45

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like that Google Nexus One dock is actually available now. It's going for $45 and is, of course, sold separately. The dock itself has a 3.5mm headphone jack that you can connect to your stereo system, but it also has integrated Bluetooth so that you can play your music to some speakers wirelessly. Awesome stuff.

Sony Ericsson's Product Manager Shows Off the Rogers-Bound XPERIA X10 For 11 Minutes

Labels: , , , , , , ,

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is going to hit Canada via Rogers and it'll be one of the best Android handsets that will grace us Canadians. This smartphone will feature a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display with a 480 x 854 resolution, an 8.1MP AF camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, GPS / WiFi / Bluetooth support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Mediascape and Timescape, and Android 1.6 (please upgrade it before it launches SE). I think it's really, really sad that Sony Ericsson plans to launch this with Android 1.6, they just don't get anything done right. Anyways, the whole point of this post was for the video. The video is below and it's quite lengthy at over 11 minutes long. Enjoy.

Windows Mobile 7 Minimal Specs Leaked By Eldar Murtazin?

Labels: , , ,

Can you believe what Eldar Murtazin says anymore? Well, he has just tweeted what WinMo 7's minimal requirements will be: a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, 8GB of internal memory, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, an FM radio, a 5MP camera, and a G-Sensor. That's not it though. He's also mentioned that he's actually playing with a WinMo 7 device that has an 1,850mAh battery, but it only lasts 6 to 7 hours right now. Microsoft will likely improve the battery efficiency before launch because we can't fit 3,000mAh batteries into phones right now. Either way, we'll likely see WinMo 7 demoed at MWC 2010 which is a couple of weeks away.

Six New Archos Products Leak Out, For Your Audio / Video Needs

Labels: , , , , , ,

Along with the Archos 7 leak this morning, they've unveiled a couple of upcoming products. The Archos Key (above) will be a cheap €20 ($28 USD) mp3 player with 4GB of storage and a microSD card slot. The Archos 1 Vision Slim will be packing 4GB of storage and is a thinner and "button-free" model of the original Vision. The Vision Slim will be going for €40 ($56 USD). The Archos Yamaha Vision 2 features some integrated speakers and an internal amp. Unfortunately, the price for this one wasn't mentioned.

Don't worry it starts to get a bit interesting with the Archos 4 Vision (above). This PMP features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, TV output, 16GB / 32GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot. The Archos 3 Vision Camera (below) will have 8GB of internal storage and will actually have an integrated camera.

Apple Tablet Gets Officially Unveiled as the iPad! Almost Everything You Need To Know

Labels: , , , , ,

Apple has just confirmed the Apple tablet and they're calling it the iPad. They decided to work on a tablet instead of a netbook because a netbook, basically, doesn't do anything better than a notebook. Steve Jobs actually demoed this iPad on stage and Engadget actually called it "odd" since they were just watching him browse the web. Jobs clicked on a page and there was actually a missing Flash plug-in, so let's hope they get some Flash support before this launches or else that'll be a real big let down. The UI is like a big iPhone and everything else works just like an iPhone does with some new UI changes.

The iPad itself features a 9.7-inch IPS capacitive multi-touchscreen LED-backlit display with a 1,024 x 768 resolution (132 ppi), it weighs 1.5 pounds, and it's just 0.5-inches thin which is already impressive. Inside it's packing an Apple A4 CPU which is clocked at 1GHz. It'll be available in 16GB / 32GB / 64GB models and they'll all, of course, be packing a 3.5mm headphone jack, 3G, WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. It'll also have a speaker, a microphone, an accelerometer, and a digital compass in case you didn't know. The battery life is good enough for a month of standby time and 10 hours while watching a movie (possibly with WiFi turned off). Since Apple is one of the greenest companies out there it's an eco-friendly product.

The iPad doesn't have a front-facing webcam or a camera on the back - just in case you're wondering. Like I said earlier, the iPad also appears to be missing Flash support. There's no multi-tasking, no phone calls (Google Voice could work though, I believe), and no notifications. Apple showed off a regular dock, a keyboard dock, and a case that doubles as a stand as well. The prices - I believe - were not mentioned though.

With the iPad you'll be able to use "almost all" of the apps on the App Store. It'll connect to your Mac / PC the same way your iPhone / iPod does. Apple - more specifically Steve Jobs - mentioned that this is "our most advanced technology in a magical & revolutionary device at an unbelievable price." The iPad is running a customized iPhone OS.

The iPad will be available contract-free (pre-paid) on AT&T. For $14.99 monthly you'll get 250MB of data and for just $30 monthly you'll get unlimited data (which costs $60 for mobile phones). All models will be unlocked and use GSM microSIMs. The best part is that it will only cost you $499! Amazing, even I'm impressed. Of course, that's the 16GB model. The 32GB and 64GB model will cost $599 and $699, respectively. Unfortunately, those are the models without 3G. The iPad 3G models will add another $130 to the price tags, so $629, $729, and $829, respectively. You can order them now and the WiFi-only models will be shipping in 60 days. The iPad with 3G will be shipping in 90 days.

Just thought I'd mention one more thing: what a terrible name. I also think that this was overhyped - as usual.

Asus Confirms That They're Working On An Eee Pad Tablet

Labels: , , ,

Asus' exec, Eric Chen, has finally confirmed what we already know. He has confirmed that they're working on an Asus Eee Pad and it'll be sporting an ARM CPU and 3G connectivity. As Engadget points out this could possibly be the worst day to announce something like this. Apple's conference for the tablet is scheduled to start in 30 minutes so let's hope they [Asus] really work on that UI like they said.

Motorola Zeppelin Gets Caught In a Photo, Bring Android [and MOTOBLUR] To MWC

Labels: , , ,

It looks like someone has managed to snap a photo of this Motorola handset and this is reportedly the Zeppelin. Of course, this handset will be sporting the Android OS and will also feature: a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 5MP camera, GPS support, MOTOBLUR, and touch-sensitive buttons on the bottom. We don't know what version of Android this thing will be running on, but it should be 2.0 or 2.1. We'll likely see it at MWC 2010 since it's already been leaked early. Let's just wait.

Delta Electronics Looking To Launch 13.1-Inch Coloured E-Book Reader In Q2

Labels: , , ,

Apparently a small Taiwanese company, Delta Electronics, is planning to enter the e-book reader game. They're reportedly set to launch their 13.1-inch e-book reader in Q2 / Q3 of this year and this model will feature a coloured display. These displays will be courtesy of Bridgestone which we saw way back in April. They're also planning to launch a smaller 8.1-inch e-book reader but it'll be stuck with the traditional black and white display.

Archos 7 Android Tablet Leaks Out, Pretty Standard Spec Sheet

Labels: , , ,

It looks like Archos has just let their latest tablet slip out. The Archos 7 seems to be another Android handset and it'll be bringing some standard specs to the tablet. It's got a 7-inch touchscreen display with an 800 x 480 resolution, 8GB of internal memory, support for a bunch of audio / video / photo file formats, an integrated webcam on the front, and a video recorder. Let's just hope this model doesn't come with the problems that the Archos 5 ran into; let's also hope that they push Android 2.0 on this tablet. Anyways, this tablet is expected to launch in March for around L150 ($242 USD).

Windows Mobile 7 Roadmap Briefly Mentioned, Launching This Year

Labels: , , , , , , ,

We already heard Digitimes reporting that Windows Mobile 7 would be making a launch this year, but CNet is doing the same thing. They are reporting that WinMo 7 will be available this year and it'll be showing up at MWC 2010. It'll also be making an appearance at MIX 2010 but it'll be focusing on the gaming aspect of the mobile OS. It looks like the LG Apollo and HTC Obsession (Diamond 3?) could really be getting launched later this year - with Snapdragon on-board.

Google Nexus One Dock Sports Integrated Bluetooth For External Speakers

Labels: , , ,

Remember that Google Nexus One dock that passed the FCC a while ago. This dock should have integrated Bluetooth - separate from the phone - and could be used to wirelessly connect to some external speakers. It should cost around $45, so it could be worth it if you have the Nexus One.

Apple Tablet (iPad?) Possibly Pictured (Twice!), Bringing OLED, Webcam and More For $600?

Labels: , , ,

Everything's going to be official in a couple of hours (13:00 EST / 10:00 PST), but there's been word of Jason Calacanis being one of those beta testers for the glorified Apple tablet. These photos above and below are unconfirmed but they're looking pretty legit. Apparently, this tablet will be going for $599, $699, and $799 on contract [with Verizon and AT&T] and it'll go for $1,000 contract-free. This tablet will reportedly feature a 9 to 10-inch OLED display and will have an aluminum back - similar to their MacBook Pros. There appears to be a front-facing webcam for those video conferencing needs of yours - and Jason actually "confirmed" this. The battery like is reportedly "great" when reading but only lasts 2 to 3 hours with WiFi gaming which is a big let down. Everything you need to know is below - it's what Calacanis said. Check out Jason's Twitter here. Overhyped?

  • It's "the most amazing device ever"
  • It's "really amazing for newspapers"
  • Video conferencing is "super stable"
  • Battery life is "great" when it comes to reading ebooks but not so great (2-3 hours) in Wi-Fi mode or when playing games
  • Tailor-made games are "sick", on Wii level
  • The customised Farmville app (which Jobs is going to demo tomorrow with the CEO of the company behind it) is "insane"
  • The tablet will be offered by Verizon and ATT
  • It will cost $599, $699 or $799, depending on the screen size and internal memory

Update: According to Fone Arena, the tablet actually made a brief appearance on Apple Canada's website. It's been caught named the iPad - now is this what it will be called?

Update: Crunch Gear is calling fake on this one (some of the rumours and pictures) so I guess we'll have to take a wait and see approach.

Well, this Motorola device is the A853 and has support for UMTS-based 3G networks, like Telus' up in Canada. This is great news because this is definitely the best Android device to hit Canada so far. The launch should only be a couple of weeks away.

It'll also come with three pre-loaded games: Spore, Ashphalt4, and DJ Mix Tour.
