Verizon Launching the DROID X In July, DROID 2 To Get Froyo For Its August Release

Apparently, the DROID 2 won't be hitting Verizon in July. The DROID X will be hitting the carrier in July and then the DROID 2 will reportedly launch sometime in August. The reason for the DROID 2's slight delay is that they're going to get version 2.2 "Froyo" on there along with whatever skin they put on it. And in case you're interested, the original DROID has dropped in price so you can scoop it up for $149.99.

Phandroid wasn't kidding when they announced that their tipster mentioned that the Motorola Shadow / Xtreme would actually be getting yet another name change to the Droid X. The image above is an internal screenshot and the image below just shows off the spec sheet. Note that the spec sheet below says that this smartphone will be just 0.39-inches (around 1cm) which is slightly thicker than the iPhone 4.

Getting tired of the DROID Xtreme / Shadow photos popping up? Well, that's too bad. Thanks to DROID-Life there are more pictures of said smartphone and it'll be running either version 2.1 or 2.2 of the Android OS. The OS will be underneath a version of Motoblur or NinjaBlur if you will.

Just like I said last week, the Motorola Shadow will reportedly be launched as the DROID Xtreme. Today the folks over at Droid-Life have just pictured the smartphone for everyone to enjoy. This handset will reportedly be hitting Verizon sometime in July and it's apparently been confirmed to launch with Android 2.2. This smartphone will also offer a 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 8GB of internal memory, an HDMI port, and a 700MHz OMAP3630 CPU.
Update: According to Phandroid, this handset will have some custom skin over Android and it'll be called Ninjablur. Apparently, the battery will be a 1,500mAh.

We just saw the Motorola DROID 2 (the A955) spotted in an inventory listing just a couple of hours ago and another Motorola handset has done the same thing. This one is the Motorola MB810 aka the Shadow - possibly the DROID Extreme when it launches. You can bet that both of these handsets will be hitting Verizon in July - Motorola already hinted this at us.

Motorola Shadow To Launch As the DROID Extreme -- Two Motorola Smartphones Coming In July

Just like I said, when the first picture of the Motorola Shadow leaked out, this handset is rumoured to take the Extreme naming. This handset will, of course, be a part of Verizon's growing "DROID" line-up, so it could be the DROID Extreme when it launches. Although the DROID Incredible is part of the DROID line-up, this handset is definitely the successor to the original DROID - the DROID 2 if you will. This one is actually made by Motorola and it'll feature a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Other rumours point this handset as a Q3 release - either July or August.
Update: According to Engadget, Motorola is actually looking to launch two smartphones on Verizon in July. Now we know that this handset will be coming in July, but I'm trying to figure out what the other phone is.

Motorola Shadow Leaks Out Again, Confirming 4.1-Inch Display and 720MHz CPU

Yesterday the Motorola Shadow leaked out for the first time and Howard Forums is tipping even more information on this handset. Apparently, some of the rumoured info we've heard about so far have been wrong. The rumoured 4.3-inch display is said to actually be slightly smaller at 4.1-inches and you won't find a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU inside of here which is a slight let down. Instead this handset packs a TI OMAP 3630 CPU which is an ARM Cortex A8 chip clocked at 720MHz. Inside you'll also be getting 8GB of internal storage and on the back you'll find an 8MP snapper. Of course, there'll be a microSD card slot on here so there's really no need to worry - the picture also shows the microHDMI port. It's still a pretty juicy device, so this is definitely something to look out for.

Verizon's Motorola DROID Shadow "Found" In the Wild, No Busting Down Doors Here

A couple of days ago we heard about the upcoming new Motorola DROID that will hit Verizon and it has just been found in the wild - similar to the next-gen iPhone. Someone "found" the handset in a Verizon gym in Washington - what a coincidence, eh? Anyways, some of the specs seem to be confirmed, it's definitely packing a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, an 8MP camera, an HDMI port, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, and 16GB of internal storage. I'm also pretty sure that there's a microSD card slot on this handset too. This is looking like it really is the Motorola Shadow.
With Android 2.2 "Froyo" likely being pre-loaded on this handset, Apple better have something good up their sleeve at WWDC in a couple of weeks.

New Motorola DROID Getting Started Manual Spotted, Possibly the Shadow or the Xtreme

This new picture is looking like a Getting Started manual for a new Verizon-bound Motorola Android device. It will clearly be a part of their DROID line-up so maybe the picture above is what the long-rumoured Shadow handset will look like. It could also be the Motorola DROID Xtreme that we heard about 10 days ago; they do have the DROID Incredible, so the DROID Xtreme could be next in the line-up. If it's the Shadow it could be sporting a 4.3-inch display along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

It looks like the rumour proved to be true. Motorola's CEO, Sanjay Jha, has just confirmed that they are indeed looking to launch the next Google phone that "will be sold directly to consumers." This will likely end up being the Google Nexus Two. We don't know what this model will look like, but it could be something like what you see above which is the rumoured Motorola Shadow. The next handset in the Nexus line is rumoured to have a QWERTY keyboard so it could work. We'll just have to see what happens cause this could be the Nexus One "Enterprise model" or something like that.

Motorola Shuns Windows Mobile, Launching 20 to 30 Android Phones This Year

Even though Windows Mobile 7 may or may not actually launch this year Motorola has already made up their mind and has mentioned that they will not be launching any Windows Mobile phones this year. Instead they'll be launching 20 to 30 smartphones (this year) and all of them will be running Google's Android OS. Motorola has been saved by Android with their recent success starting with the Motorola DROID. I can't wait for the rumoured Shadow to launch cause that looks to be their next big thing.

Motorola Shadow To Be the Google Nexus Two?

Nexus Two
Motorola Shadow, does that ring a bell? Well, we heard about it in late December and a new rumour has just started. Recently we heard that Google is planning an "enterprise version" of the Nexus One (possibly the Nexus Two) that will feature a QWERTY keyboard. Well, they might be looking to Motorola for this model - instead of HTC - and it could be the Motorola Shadow. Unfortunately, the keyboard doesn't look much better than the DROID, but keep in mind that the above render could be fan-made.
Back in December we heard that this handset will have a 4.3-inch touchscreen display so it could be like an HTC HD2 with a QWERTY keyboard - with a beefed up 8MP camera though.

Mysterious Motorola Handset Passes the FCC With T-Mobile 3G Bands

I wonder what this could be. It looks like another Motorola handset has passed the FCC with T-Mobile 3G support (WIND Mobile in Canada). This handset looks like it will be outed with quad-band GSM connectivity, Bluetooth / WiFi / GPS support. That's all we know. I'm hoping it's the Motorola Shadow, but that could be a long shot. Boy Genius points out that it could very well be the Sholes tablet.

Well, what the heck is this? Apparently, this is another touchscreen handset from Motorola, called the Shadow. And yes, the correct picture is the black one - not the white one. This handset is rumoured to have: a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with an 850 x 484 resolution, an 8MP camera, an HDMI output (for 1080p), and supposedly the Android OS. Let's hope this one gets unveiled at CES 2010 - maybe I'll hold off buying the Nexus One for it. This looks like it could be the real Sholes tablet.
