10-Inch Asus Eee PC 1015N Netbook Spotted With Optimus At Computex

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

We've heard about Asus' Eee PC 1215N netbook already and it looks like its younger brother has just been spotted at Computex. The 1015N actually isn't anything like the 1215N since it packs a 10.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution and the entire spec sheet is turned down a notch. The 1015N is said to feature an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD, and Windows 7 Starter Edition. Thankfully, this netbook still has the good ol' Nvidia Optimus technology.

Nvidia and Asus Team Up To Debut 3 New 3D-Capable PCs: Notebook, All In One, and Desktop PC

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Nvidia and Asus are both looking to make pushes into the 3D-world at Computex. Asus did this by introducing three of their upcoming PCs that will be 3D-capable thanks to Nvidia's technology and their active shutter glasses. The first PC on the list is the G51Jx-EE notebook which has Nvidia's 3D Vision technology. Next up is the Eee Top ET2400 all in one PC which will have a 23.6-inch LCD display and USB 3.0 ports. The last one is the CD5390 desktop PC which will supposedly be the "world's most powerful gaming solution" with its GeForce GTX 480 GPU. Of course, Asus also has three 3D LCD displays up their sleeve so they'll be perfect for this PC. The full spec sheets weren't mentioned but at least we know a bit of what they'll each be offering.

Asus Debuts Three Tablets: the 8-Inch Eee Tablet, 12-Inch Eee Pad 121, and 10-Inch EP101TC

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

At Computex, they're definitely not short on tablets from all manufacturers and Asus has just made a few of theirs official. The first one is being named the Asus Eee Tablet. This "digital notebook" packs an 8-inch touchscreen display with a 1,024 x 768 resolution, a 2,450 dpi input sensitivity, and sports an LCD monochrome display with 64-levels of grey. It's not an e-ink display, so you'll actually only be able to squeeze out 10 hours of battery life. Of course, it has essentials like a microSD card slot and a 2MP camera. Asus is calling this is "world's most accurate and sensitive note taking devices available" so maybe it'll work for students. This tablet is expected to launch in September in the price range of anywhere between $199 and $299. Check out a preview of this Eee Tabet here, courtesy of Engadget.

The other two tablets that Asus announced may be more desirable to you. First up is the Eee Pad EP121 which sports a 12-inch touchscreen display, an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPU, an integrated webcam, a few USB ports, a 10-hour battery life, and Windows 7. Being a laptop without a keyboard, Asus also has a hybrid dock / keyboard for you (here, courtesy of Engadget again). The other tablet they introduced is the EP101TC. This one is a 10-inch model that runs on Windows Embedded Compact 7. The specs for this one isn't clear right now, but I'm sure we'll find them out soon. Both of these tablets aren't expected until Q1 2011, which is a major let down. They'll be priced at $399 to $499 whenever they get released. Check out Engadget here for a preview of the Eee Pad EP101TC and the EP121.

Asus Shows Off Their 3D-Capable 15.6-Inch ROG G53 Gaming Notebook At Computex

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Here's a pretty basic looking notebook but that's the last thing it is. The Asus ROG G53 gaming notebook has just shown up at Computex and it's 3D-capable. The notebook itself will have Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 CPU options, up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM (on the quad-core models) and up to 8GB (on the dual-core models), a 15.6-inch LED-backlit HD display, Nvidia graphics, two possible HDD / SSD options, an optional Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0 ports, and an HDMI 1.4 port. It's definitely not lacking any features, but you'll probably have to save up a bit for this one. The price, of course, wasn't mentioned so you'll have to wait around for that if you want it.

Labels: , , , ,

X2 is known for unveiling but not releasing their iTablet device earlier this year, but they promise that they'll be showing off a bunch off tablets at Computex this week. Samsung Introduces USB-Powered 18.5-Inch Monitor, Set For 2011 Release

Labels: ,

Not entirely new to the world, Samsung has just introduced their own USB-based monitors. Unlike the others out there - from MIMO, for example - this is sporting an 18.5-inch display which would do pretty good beside your laptop at home. There are no actual specification details on the monitor itself but it does suck up 6.3W of power and has edge-backlighting technology. Engadget points out that one of the set backs for this monitor is that it has a 30,000 hour lifespan - shorter than the average 50,000 hour with other LCD monitors. Samsung has mentioned that these USB-based monitors are expected to hit the shelves sometime in 2011.

They'll likely spend their time tweaking the Android UI to closely resemble their Skylight OS and they're looking to release some Android-based devices in Q4 of this year. Maybe this will include the smartbook that looked pretty good. Hopefully, they intend to release the U1 in the future because that was actually something I was looking forward to.

Oh well, thankfully it'll be running Android so you can always just opt to use the virtual QWERTY keyboard.

Update: According to another Phandroid post, the Motorola A955 aka the DROID 2 has just shown up in an inventory screenshot. This is definitely coming soon, folks!

The UL20FT will reportedly feature an Intel Celeron U3400 CPU as a standard but you'll be able to update that to an Intel Core i3-330UM 1.2GHz CPU. There's no Turbo Boost on this CPU but it does have Asus' own Turbo33 technology.
