HTC PD26100 Hits the FCC, Bringing Windows Phone 7 With It; On Its Way To AT&T?

Labels: , , , , ,

Okay, something new from HTC (model number PD26100) has hit the FCC and it should actually be running Windows Phone 7. The only known specs right now are Bluetooth / WiFi 802.11n support and GSM 850 / UMTS I and II connectivity. This one should be hitting AT&T since they're boasting to be one of the biggest Windows Phone 7 carriers out there. It could be hitting Canada via Rogers but only time will tell. Check out the two FCC filings (here and here).

We knew it was on the way and it has finally hit the carrier. Cincinnati Bell has just released the Motorola XT720 and it's the first carrier (and possibly the only one) to launch it in the US. Of course, it's already available on Newegg but some people don't want their smartphones unlocked. Toshiba Libretto W100 Dual-Screen Tablet / Notebook Hitting Japan Next Week

Labels: , , , ,

Toshiba showed off the Libretto W100 dual-screen tablet / notebook in mid-June and it's going to be hitting you in a near future... if you live in Japan that is. Toshiba has announced that this device will be available in Japan next week, on August 11th, but the price wasn't mentioned. Of course, it should be hitting the US as well but we don't know exactly when. Unfortunately, this device doesn't come cheap because it's said that this tablet will be coming to the US for $1,100.

Apple MacBook Air Update Could Come In September, iPod Nano To Get Rid of the Shuffle Line-Up

Labels: , , , , ,

We already know that Apple is looking to update their MacBook Air notebook soon and it looks like it could be coming sometime in September. Apparently, the notebook will be cheaper than the $1,499 price that it starts out with now which would be a big step for Apple. Earlier rumours pointed that the MacBook Air update would feature an 11.6-inch display along with Intel Core ix ULV 2010 CPU options. That's not all though. We're also hearing that Apple may be trying to get rid of their iPod Shuffle line-up by introducing their first iPod Nano without the famous click-wheel. It's starting to look like that small Apple-branded touchscreen display will be the next iPod Nano somehow.

An unknown company (at least to me) is going to release something that you may be interested in. The Nationite MIDnite is going to be a 7-inch tablet that'll be running Android 2.2 and has some pretty decent specs. The MIDnite packs a resistive touchscreen display (480 x 800 resolution), WiFi b/g support, a 3,000mAh battery, 256MB of RAM, 2GB of flash storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB host port, a TI OMAP3 3530 600MHz CPU, and access to the Android Market.

This tablet is now up for pre-order for just $199.50 (here). Apparently, this will be shipping on August 23rd and if you don't pre-order it now the price will go up to $219.50 after day one. If you're dying to get an Android tablet and you're one a budget then maybe this one's for you.

Asus Pushing Out EB1501P Nettop Soon, Sporting Ion 2 and Dual-Core Atom D525

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Another model of Asus' Eee Box EB1501 has just popped up out of nowhere (they always do) and this one is the EB1501P. This is probably their best one to date sporting Nvidia's Ion 2 graphics, a dual-core Intel Atom D525 CPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB HDD, HDMI output, WiFi 802.11n / Bluetooth support, an eSATA port, and USB ports. Apparently, this nettop will be hitting the UK in late Q3 / early Q4 for £379.99 ($602 USD). This is actually a great nettop if you'll want to run some basic games - it probably won't be running StarCraft II well.

Asus Eee Tablet Coming In October For "Under $599", Overpriced For What You're Getting.

Labels: , , , , ,

Okay, so back at Computex we heard that Asus' Eee Tablet would be hitting the market in September for under $299 (somewhere between $199 and $299) and now there's another rumour about the price - coming from Digitimes. The Eee Tablet which is an e-book reader with a monochrome (black and white) LCD display will reportedly be coming in October and will cost "under $599". This would definitely be overpriced for something like this and it would be a huge let down if Asus decides to launch this with anywhere near (or over) a $500 price tag.

LG T300 Becomes the Cookie Lite On Orange UK, "Coming Soon"

Labels: , , ,

Earlier this week LG made a couple of phones official and one of them was the LG T300. This mid-end looking handset packs a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, a 1.3MP camera, an FM radio with RDS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and social integration. The handset is headed to Orange as the Cookie Lite and is on their Coming Soon page - according to Unwired View - but I actually can't get on the page right now because there's an error. The handset itself will reportedly be available only on PAYG but the price hasn't been tipped yet.

Asus' First Windows Phone 7 Handset Gets Pictured, No Name Or Specs

Labels: , , ,

Although it may be a prototype for now, the picture above appears to be Asus' first Windows 7 handset and it's looking pretty good. Of course, the front face would've been cleaner if the company decided to just put their branding on the back of the phone but that shouldn't be too big of a deal. If you take a look at the upper right corner of the handset there appears to be a front-facing camera. The handset itself doesn't have a name right now, and this is the first time we've seen it - or else I wouldn't have posted it.

Telus Releases the HTC Desire, Bell Releases the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant; War Of the Androids In Canada

Labels: , , , ,

Today two Android devices have hit the market in Canada and this is really big news. The first one is the 3.7-inch (SLCD-equipped) HTC Desire that is now available on Telus (here) for $79.99 on a 3-year contract. Other price points are: $349.99 on a 2-year contract, $399.99 on a 1-year contract, and $449.99 contract-free. The smartphone packs a 5MP AF camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, and Android 2.1 with the Sense UI.

The smartphone that will go head-to-head with this one is the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant which is now available on Bell (here). This smartphone is now available for $149.95 on a 3-year contract, $349.95 on a 2-year contract, $449.95 on a 1-year contract, and $499.95 contract-free. The Vibrant packs a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera with 720p HD video recording, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, and Android 2.1 with the Touchwiz UI. Which one will you get?

Update: You might want to get your Bell Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant at Best Buy. Mobile Syrup has just pointed out that if you get it at Best Buy it's available for only $99.99 on a 3-year contract and they're going to throw in a $75 gift card as well. Talk about a sweet deal. That price for this smartphone it should sell more than the iPhone 4 - but it won't because it's not made by Apple. I could go on and on...

Don't forget that you can wait for the Samsung Captivate which should be hitting Rogers in the near future.

MetroPCS' Samsung R900 To Be Called the Craft

Labels: , , , , ,

To this point we already know about Samsung's SCH-R900 smartphone and we know that it's headed to MetroPCS in the USA. This smartphone is going to feature LTE connectivity, a 3MP camera, Bluetooth support, and a touchscreen display. Apparently, MetroPCS will be launching this as the Samsung Craft which seems like an awkward name.
