Delta Electronics Looking To Launch 13.1-Inch Coloured E-Book Reader In Q2

Labels: , , ,

Apparently a small Taiwanese company, Delta Electronics, is planning to enter the e-book reader game. They're reportedly set to launch their 13.1-inch e-book reader in Q2 / Q3 of this year and this model will feature a coloured display. These displays will be courtesy of Bridgestone which we saw way back in April. They're also planning to launch a smaller 8.1-inch e-book reader but it'll be stuck with the traditional black and white display.

Bridgestone Shows Off Flexible E-Book Reader Prototype, Hoping For a 2010 Launch In Japan

Labels: , ,

Bridgestone - the same company who makes tires - has just revealed a pretty interesting e-book reader. Their latest e-book reader prototype features a 13-inch [somewhat] flexible touchscreen display that sports 4,096 colours. "The panel works by using "liquid powder" that achieves the same easy-to-read, extremely low-power effect of grayscale e-paper." Thankfully, this new technology is still capable of refreshing evey 0.8 seconds, which is awfully close to current e-ink technology.

This e-book reader is hoping to hit the shelves sometime in 2010 - albeit in Japan.

Bridgestone's 13-Inch E-Paper With A Short Demo

Labels: , , ,

Could our future be in Bridgestone's hands? They have just shown off their 13-inch colour e-paper with "QR-LPD" technology. The e-paper - so far - is pretty fast with its 0.8-second refresh times and "Wacom-based pen input." There's a short video below and it looks like Bridgestone may have to work on the brightness of the e-paper just a tiny bit. It's a good short look at this prototype though.
