Today's the day! The Samsung Acclaim is now available in the US, thanks to US Cellular. This is their first Android handset and it's now available for $99.99 on a 2-year contract - and it's a buy one get one free deal. This handset packs a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.1. Of course, you'll have to pay at least $30 monthly because it's a smartphone that requires a data plan. If you're ready, head over to their store or website and purchase one.

We've known for a while that US Cellular would be getting the Samsung R880 Acclaim and if you believe their Facebook page they have announced that the release date is going to be on July 9th. The price is still unknown but we already know pretty much everything else about the handset. This'll be a mid-end Android handset but the Desire (I think) is better.

The US Cellular-bound Samsung Acclaim has just been spotted on Samsung's official site, so this is confirmed to be what it'll look like. We saw this at Google I/O a couple of weeks ago so it shouldn't be surprising. Anyways, it's clear that this handset will sport a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and the Android OS. Look out for it to launch soon.

The picture last week of the Samsung R880 Acclaim that Engadget scooped up last week looks like it was probably an earlier model. At the Google I/O event this afternoon Engadget spotted the Samsung R880 again and this one looked nothing like the one from last week meaning this is probably the final model. We already know the specs of this handset and I honestly think that this phone looks better than the one we saw last week.

The Samsung (R880) Acclaim looks like it has just been pictured. This handset is sporting a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which lines up perfectly with what we heard 4 days ago. Sadly, US Cellular doesn't plan to release this Android-based handset until July of this year, which is still two months away.

A couple of weeks ago we heard that US Cellular would be launching another Android device. A couple of days after that Phone Arena got the scoop that it was going to be the Samsung SCH-R880. Well, they're back at it again since US Cellular's Facebook page has just given it away. They'll be launching the R880 as the Acclaim and it'll feature a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.1. This is said to be quite similar to the Samsung Moment.

US Cellular looks like they have a couple of more devices up their sleeve, this being the LG Mystique and the Samsung SCH-R880. The Mystique is said to be similar to the Lotus Elite so that's good news if you like the boxy shape. The Samsung SCH-R880 is reportedly running Android so this could be the other Android phone that US Cellular wanted us to "guess." This handset's specs are reportedly quite similar to the Samsung Moment so it could be the Samsung Moment 2, but it's not for sure right now. What we do know is that the SCH-R880 has hit the Bluetooth SIF and it's reportedly packing a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 3MP AF camera with a flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and Android 2.1.
