Sony Ericsson Vivaz U5a (Kurara) Passes the FCC With AT&T / Rogers 3G Bands

Labels: , , ,

It looks like the Sony Ericsson Vivaz (U5a) aka the Kurara has just passed the FCC with 3G (850 / 1900 MHz) bands that would be compatible on AT&T in the US and Rogers in Canada. This handset will feature a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with a 360 x 640 resolution, HSPA / WiFi / GPS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 720MHz CPU, an 8MP camera with an LED flash and 720p video recording capabilities, and an 8GB card in the box. This might not be offered directly through AT&T but you'll be able to get it from Sony's store.

Check out the FCC filing here.

T-Mobile UK Prepping To Launch HTC Bravo, XPERIA X10, SE Vivaz, Samsung Spica and Storm 2

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

T-Mobile UK looks like they're set to launch a couple of amazing phones, including the likes of the HTC Bravo (above on the left), the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (above on the right), the Sony Ericsson Vivaz (formerly known as the Kurara - bottom left), the Samsung Galaxy Spica (below on the right), and the BB Storm 2. They're all running Android except for the Vivaz and, of course, the Storm 2 which will be running S60 and BB OS 5.0, respectively, so you can see all the hype here. They're all amazing phones so it could be pretty tough to pick any one of these phones. Of course my favourite is the XPERIA X10.

It should be launching in a couple of places by the end of Q1 2010 and it should be available unlocked for around $670 and $750 USD.

Sony Ericsson Kurara (U5) Set For April Launch In UK?

Labels: , , , , , ,

Remember the Sony Ericsson Kurara (U5)? Well, Tech Radar is hearing that this S60 handset is set to launch in the UK this April. Sony Ericsson hasn't made it official so we're just waiting for that. This is a full (3.2-inch) touchscreen handset that also features an 8MP camera that can also record 720p HD video. We'll likely see it at MWC 2010.

Sony Ericsson Kurara Gets a QWERTY Keyboard? Codenamed "Kanna"

Labels: , , ,

At this point, the Sony Ericsson Kurara hasn't even been officially introduced yet, but a new picture of it looks like it has just popped up. Well, it's got the Kurara looks but it's clearly packing a QWERTY keyboard, which looks like it was seriously half-assed. Maybe Sony Ericsson decided to tack on a QWERTY keyboard on this handset, since their cameraphone king will still be the Satio. It's clearly running S60 5th Edition, but let's hope they make it official... you know, this week.

Update: According to Fone Arena, this handset is being named (or at least codenamed) the "Kanna." It's said to be sporting: a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with a 360 x 640 resolution, a QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an 8.1MP AF camera, and S60 5th Edition.

Now, it's confirmed that the Sony Ericsson Kurara U5 has: a 3.5-inch touchscreen display (not AMOLED), a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, an 8.1MP AF camera that can record 720p video, Twitter / Facebook apps, and S60.

Sony Ericsson Kurara Pictured Again, "HD" On the Back With Some Possible Specs

Labels: , ,

We've seen the Sony Ericsson Kurara pop up in photos before, but now we have some more possible specs for this handset. So, we're now hearing that this handset will definitely have an 8MP camera on the back and it will also have an LED flash. The "HD" on the back symbolizes that you'll be able to record HD (720p resolution) video. Other specs include: a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, an ARM A8 600MHz CPU with PowerVR SGX graphics, 256MB of RAM, WiFi / GPS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microUSD port, HSUPA / HSDPA connectivity, a 1,200 mAh battery, and the Symbian OS.

More Pictures of the Sony Ericsson Kurara Leak Out, This Time Without "HD" On the Back

Labels: , , , ,

Just yesterday, we got our first look at the Sony Ericsson Kurara and it clearly had the letters "HD" printed on the back, which signaled that it could record some HD video of some sort. Well, another photo has popped up today, and as you can clearly see, it doesn't have the "HD" labelling on the back this time. We don't know which one to believe, but the picture we saw yesterday could've been photoshopped. Either that or this is an old production unit.

Sony Ericsson Kurara Spotted, 3.5-Inch AMOLED Display, 8.1MP Camera, S60; Announcement In 2010

Labels: , , , ,

We got our first glimpse of this handset two weeks ago, and here's a clear shot of them. This is the Sony Ericsson Kurara, which features: a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, an 8.1MP camera, and S60 5th Edition. According to what the back of the phone says we should be expecting it to record HD video - likely 720p.

Unfortunately, "the Kurara should be announced in the first half of 2010, probably under a different name." This means that we're going to have to wait a while for this to hit the market.

Sony Ericsson Kurara Spotted; Possibly Running S60, (3.5-Inch) Touchscreen Display and 8.1MP Camera

Labels: , , , , ,

What you see above is a small glimpse of a new Sony Ericsson handset - the Sony Ericsson Kurara (Kurana). As you can tell from the photo it has a touchscreen display - possibly around 3.5-inches - and there's supposedly an 8.1MP snapper on the back. Tech Radar is calling it a Sony Ericsson Satio "sequel", and it could very well be since we're also hearing that it will be running on S60. This handset looks like it has a 2010 UK release date, so don't expect much about this handset anytime soon.
