The MSI X-Slim X340 notebook is now officially available on MSI's official website for a starting price of $899 USD. The basic X340 specs are as follows: a 13.4-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, Intel's Core 2 Solo SU3500 CULV 1.4GHz CPU, Intel GMA 4500MDH graphics, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 320GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a 2-in-1 card reader (SD/MMC), and a 1.3MP webcam. It also has 2 USB 2.0 ports, VGA / HDMI output, and a mic / headphone jack.
This notebook comes with a 4-cell battery as a standard, but it is upgradeable to an 8-cell, if you're interested. This notebook is thin, light, and will save power, since it is running on Intel's CULV CPU. Check it out here, if you're looking to purchase it.

So much for MSI's promise of placing this notebook in the sub $1,000 category. The black and white models of the MSI X-Slim X340 are now officially priced at $1,099 USD. The base model of the X340 has: a 13.4-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, the Core 2 Solo 1.4GHz SU3500 Intel CULV CPU, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a 320GB HDD, Intel's GMA 4500MDH graphics, gigabit Ethernet, HDMI output, 2 USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, audio in / out, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, and a 2-in-1 card reader. The base model also comes with a 4-cell battery, but there is an 8-cell battery option. The notebook itself weighs 2.86 pounds (with the 4-cell battery) and is just 0.79-inches thin. The price seems kind of steep, I was hoping it would be cheaper.

WiMAX
We first heard about the MSI X-Slim X340 on April 1st, so at least here's something that wasn't a joke. This X-Slim X340 will be packed with an Intel SU3500 CULV CPU (5.5W of power, which is 1/6th less than the standard CPU), a 4-cell battery and this laptop should also be WiMAX-ready. If the specs revealed on April 1st are true then we should be expecting: up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a 320GB HDD, and an HDMI port - at the very least. This slim ultraportable laptop will be available by the end of this month, so expect it to be launched with a base price of around $1,000 USD in the next 9 days.
