T-Mobile UK Launching the HTC HD2 This Month, But They Get Their Product Page All Wrong

Labels: , , , , ,

It looks like even T-Mobile UK is confused about exactly what they are launching. Before I say anything, they have just briefly mentioned that they will be launching the HTC HD2 sometime this month - we heard November 6th. But, as you can see in the photo above, there are a lot of things wrong in this picture.

First, that's a picture of the original HTC Touch HD. Second, the label clearly says HTC Touch HD2, which is another error. The bullet points state that you'll be able to use the Android Market to download apps, which is incorrect since the HD2 is running WinMo 6.5. The "Huge 3.8' touchscreen" is also the wrong size since the HD2 has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display (the HTC Touch HD has a 3.8-inch display).

On a less serious note, maybe T-Mobile UK is launching that Android version of the Touch HD that we've been hearing about, but I doubt it.

Anyways, you must be confused as I am, but it looks like T-Mobile UK will clear this all up this week since they're going to make it all official on Wednesday. Let's hope they remember to change their product page too. Check out all of the errors on their website here.

HTC Touch HD2 To Run Android, 100MHz Faster CPU With Same 3.8-Inch Display

Labels: , , , ,

According to the latest big rumour, HTC is looking to release the Touch HD2 and instead of WinMo, it'll have Google's Android OS. The original Touch HD had a 528MHz CPU, but this new Touch HD2 is expected to have a CPU that's 100MHz faster than the original model - so that means possibly a 628MHz CPU. According to the rumours, everything else will likely be the same. So, we should be expecting a 5MP camera and a 3.8-inch touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution. I suppose the touchscreen could be capacitive since no Android devices to date have had a resistive touchscreen.

The price and release date details haven't been announced yet since the phone itself is still unconfirmed.

Google [Android G2], Google [GDrive] and Google [Gears]

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

If you love Google like me, this blog post will be amazing to read. It might even be as fun to read as it was for me to type this up. Anyways, let's get down to the Google news.

Ever since the pictures of the [ugly] T-Mobile G2 came out, there have been numerous fake Android G2 phones popping around all over the web. In my opinion, this one pictured on the left looks like the best one. I say this because it looks like a skinnier, white HTC Touch HD. Although, i don't like the skinniness of the phone too much, it still manages to look better than the current G2. The buttons on this fake G2 also could have been done better and they could have also included a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Now that would be my dream phone. An HTC Touch HD + Nokia N97 + Android all-in-one phone. The HTC Touch HD's looks and camera, mixed with the N97's storage and slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Dump both of their Mobile OS's for the Android and you get the ultimate phone. We will name my dream phone the Android HTC N97 HD. It would be a good competitor for the iPhone Pro. Both the Android HTC N97 HD and the iPhone Pro are only make-believe.

Google's long-awaited Webdrive service, dubbed the name Gdrive, may be in the near-future. A new, possible hint at Google's GDrive is in this picture on the left. Is this a possible icon for the GDrive service? This along with the option on the Picasa beta for the Mac, may be hints towards a possible GDrive hitting consumers later on this year. I talked about Google's GDrive a couple of days ago (here). It is basically online storage for everything on your hard drive. There is also the rumour that you will be able to use Google's, also rumoured, Operating System. Click the picture for a larger view, if you want.

"[Google] Gears has been around for awhile, but has really reached a stage of maturity, making it stable across Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. Google gears provides synchronization of online content such that it can be edited even if there is no Internet connection." Gears is a fairly new service from Google and i expect it to blossom this year. Google Docs, which is a part of Gears, is getting much better. I find myself using Google Docs more and more, as it gets better and better. I use Google Reader every single day and it is also a part of Gears. I've told you before that Google is going to take over the Internet and once they do that, they will probably take over offline as well. Google is pushing their way into our faces. With the expansion of Google Chrome and Gears, along with a possible GDrive making its appearance later this year. 2009 may be a good year for Google to make an aggressive push.

8 Year Old Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Nokia N97 Release Date, New Samsung 8MP Phone

Labels: , , , , ,

An 8 year old from Macedonia has "dethroned little M Lavinashree of India, who at 9 years old was the previous MS certification for tykes record holder." The new record holder's name is Marko. After hearing about this great news, the Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski, gave him a 15-machine computer lab to toy around with. Looks like this little, but smart, kid is loaded now. In his spare time, he "practices Thai boxing and is also an avid astronomy and physics enthusiast." Man... kids nowadays.

The amazing, sexy, wonderful and magnificent N97 now has a UK release date and a rumoured price. It was scheduled to ship out to consumers in Q1 2009. Well, at least Nokia didn't let down on their promise. They will be releasing the Nokia N97 on March 31, which is the last day of Q1. The rumoured pricing for this phone will be around $720 USD, which is much lower than i expected. We'll see if this Nokia N97 (with a 5MP camera, possible 48GB of storage and a 3.5 inch touchscreen) lives up to its hype. My favourite phone now, sorry HTC Touch HD. =D

A new 8MP camera touchscreen phone from Samsung has been recently leaked. Samsung currently sells 2 different kinds of 8MP phones: the Samsung INNOV8 (that my friend has not gotten yet) and the Pixon. Obviously, with a little bit of math, i figured out that this will be Samsung's third 8MP phone. The screen will sport an 800 x 480 resolution and will use a newer version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI. Hopefully, this new TouchWiz UI will be better than the Omnia's because it is pretty slow at times. "The phone is expected to be officially unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress at Barcelona." I can't wait to see more of this phone and the rest of the phones that are going to be unveiled at this year's upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress).

HTC Touch HD in Canada!, Gamer Swallows Saw Blades, 2009 HTC Phone's Leaked?

Labels: , , , ,

Today has been a wonderful day. So, Religion was unimportant and i had my test in Advanced Functions which, i think, i did fairly well on. During lunch, though, is when my miracle happened. I was talking to, my friend, Mr. Yang Xu. He told me that he's getting a Samsung INNOV8 soon, so i'll hopefully be able to do my review on that in another blog. But anyways, he told me that he's getting it around our area, which was shocking to me. So, he told me to visit this site. SN Trader. I went on the site and, right away, i saw an unlocked Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, which i thought was pretty fascinating. I didn't think Canada would have a store like this around here, especially. I cruise the site even more and i find the Nokia 5800 XpressMedia Tube. The Nokia N81 (my phone). The Nokia 8600 Luna, which i wanted, around the time i got my N81, just because of the looks though. It looks amazing, go search it on Youtube. I also saw the Samsung M8800 Pixon. I'm not going to list all of the phones now, but there is one phone, which amazed me. You should know which one it is, by now. This store sells the HTC Touch HD, for an overwhelming and upsetting amount of $991.00 CAD ($792.80 USD). So, that was that. After Chemistry finished, i went home. While i was walking home, both of my legs started to cramp, which was annoying. Anyways, i got home safely, as you can see. I looked in the mailbox because there seemed to be an excessive amount of mail today. I go through it and find mail for me. Exciting stuff. I opened it and i saw that i received my G2 License, finally! That's all of the excitement that has taken place today. Unfortunately, i did not finish the research for my Culminating Assignment yesterday, so that means, i have to do it tonight. I'm going to do 2 quick articles first though.

I have no clue why anyone would do this, but yes, someone has. A gamer from Beijing has swallowed 5 pieces of saw blades, in order to commit suicide. He failed, which makes things a whole lot worse. As he was being sent to the Beijing hospital ICU, he continued to talk (no clue how he managed to do so) about how to win in his favourite computer game. Talk about weird. Asians and their games. I still respect you all.

HTC, one of my favourite phone companies, are now stirring up some news. Apparently, HTC's 2009 phone list has been leaked online. Around 25 HTC phone pictures heave leaked, starting off with the, already-known, HTC Iolite. Although, i was hoping that the rumours about an HTC Touch HD with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard were true (an HTC Touch HD Pro), it doesn't look like there is one on this leaked list. The closest thing to an HTC Touch HD Pro on this list would, i think, is pictured above. Although, i hope they changed the red keyboard to a, more-standard black one... I hope these aren't all of HTC's phone that are coming out this year because none of them, to me, look too appealing. It will be interesting to see which phone on this list will be the follow-up to the T-Mobile G1. Go Google!

MSI X-Slim 320 Price, Google Router Rumours, 6-Year Old Drives Himself to School, HTC Touch HD and Iolite

Labels: , , , , ,

So, today i should not have had school due to freezing rain and snow, but the school board didn't cancel the buses. I was stuck at school all day and did the same thing that i usually have to do there: work, sleep and more work. So, these next couple of days will be brutal for me. I have lots of blogging to do. Luckily, during lunch today, i did all of the research for my CA next week. So yes, i have lots of blogging to do. It is CES this week and instead of pulling everyone's press conference summaries, i figured that i might as well make my own. I'm going to to LG's after i do 2 lengthy blog posts. I expect at least 5 blog posts today. Wish me luck. Before i talk about anything CES-wise, i'm going to talk to you about regular stuff. Non-CES stuff.

2 days ago, i mentioned that MSI is making a MacBook Air-killer, the MSI X-Slim 320. MSI has recently announced that the price of their X-Slim would be in between, just $700 and $1,000 USD, which is much cheaper than the MacBook Air's base price of $1,800. This laptop is just 3/4 of an inch (1.98 cm) thick, weighs 2.9 pounds and still manages to have a 13 inch widescreen. It's extremely thin and weightless, just like the MacBook Air. What may be a problem though, is the fact that it is running Windows Vista, which is terrible. Other than that, it looks good to me.

So, there is a new rumour that the search engine king, Google, is developing it's own router. See. I told you Google is planning to take over the Internet. That's all that has to be said about this. Keep in mind that this is just a rumour and has not been confirmed. Although, Google "won't comment on the story."

So a 6-year old from Virginia has just done the impossible. Well, technically, it's not impossible, but the chances of this happening is pretty slim. He drove himself to school. Yup, a 6-year old drove himself to school. The kid's name is undisclosed in the article, so we'll call him 'Boy.' So, Boy missed his school bus in the morning and while his parents were sleeping, he took the Ford Sedan to school. How the boy got the keys in the first place and how he knew his way to school is beyond me. Anyways, he drove almost 6 miles before getting into an accident. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. But, get this. After he got into the accident, he got out of the car and started to walk to school. Now, that is a warrior. Boy ended up being taken to the hospital by the cops and Boy ended up telling the police that he "learned how to drive by playing Grand Theft Auto and Monster Truck Jam." Boy even mentioned that he wanted to get to school because "he did not want to miss breakfast or PE." Unfortunately, "the parents of the 6-year-old are both charged with child endangerment and the kid and his 4-year-old brother were both put under protective custody. The mom is currently being held without a bond, while the father was released on a US$ 5,000 bond." Talk about amazing.

Remember the HTC Touch HD i talked about in one my first blogs? Well, it is now out in India. If you want to know all of the specs of the phone, just read my blog post about it, in the link. Moving along. The HTC Iolite was recently leaked. This 2.8 inch touchscreen phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. Iolite may not be it's official name, since it may just be a codename. The Iolite will run on Windows Mobile 6.1 and will use TouchFLO3D, for it's touchscreen needs.

Internet Explorer, PS Home, Top 3 Touchscreen's of 2008

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

I just woke up because my girlfriend texted me and now we're on Skype. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that yesterday in the library i downloaded Skype Version 4 Beta 3. It's pretty cool, cause now i can just have 1 window open and have my video and my contacts all there for me. It's pretty cool. If you use Skype, i would suggest you try it out. Here we go.

Internet Explorer. So, as i try to convince my girlfriend to fully make the move over to Firefox or Google Chrome, which will be hard to do, i try to find some bad information on Internet Explorer. This may or may not be all that convincing for her, but maybe it'll get some of you to change your damn browsers. Anyways, Internet Explorer has holes... all versions of Internet Explorer. Basically, this means that someone could easily hack you and get all your information if they exploit this hole. Hackers are, actually, now exploiting IE7's (Internet Explorer 7) hole [That's what she said]. This hole is also present in IE6, which some people still use and i actually don't know why. All the users of Internet Explorer are at risk, regardless of what Windows OS you are running. "Last week, Microsoft released eight security updates that patched 28 vulnerabilities, 23 of them pegged 'critical.' Both numbers broke previous records that stretched back more than five years." This means that Internet Explorer fails. First of all, it's slow and buggy. Second of all, there are holes! So, get off Internet Explorer and be safe while you browse the Internet, using either Mozilla Firefox or the [faster] Google Chrome, please and thank you.

Playstation Home time. So, the author of this article said that in the closed beta he thought that PS Home would be useless and 'forgettable.' But, after trying it out on 1.03 which is the open beta, he actually found it more fun. Simply because they updated how the 'square' looks and because more people are on it now compared to the closed beta. For, Ashlee and Nikki, you can go into the theater portion of Playstation Home and actually see a new Twilight trailer, but then after a bit, you get to see some probably lame-o music video. I wish i had the Playstation 3 for myself, so that i could make my own review about it, but, that might have to wait a bit.

Ooo, according to reghardware.co.uk, the HTC Touch HD (see above picture) is the number 1 phone of 2008. Runner-up's are the LG Renoir KC910 and, of course, the iPhone 3G. The HTC Touch HD's price on this site says that it is going for 535 Euros, which is actually cheaper than the $930 USD, that i gave it, when i talked about it a couple weeks ago. They say some positives are the large 3.8 inch screen and it's 5 megapixel camera. They also like the TouchFlo HD user interface and they also mention that it is a worthy alternative to the iPhone. Go HTC Touch HD.

Second on the list is the LG Renoir (see left side). The 8 megapixel phone on this touchscreen phone really gave it it's edge over other competition. Not to mention that it has a "widget-based touchscreen UI" and has "solid multimedia features." It goes unlocked for 370 Euros.

Let's not forget the iPhone (i think you already know what that looks like by now) here now. Some reason's why it's not number one are because of it's "incomplete Bluetooth functionality, no MMS support [and] the network ties." But, there are of course the positives which are "its super-smooth UI and excellent web browser." Personally, i love the accelerometer and how fast it reacts and the list of applications you can download for it. But, you know, HTC Touch HD prevails as the king.

That was my blog for now, and i'll blog again later for sure. I'm leaving for my cousin's basketball in a bit and i'll [definitely] get back to you after that.

Logitech G13, NBA in 3D?, HTC and Android, 6-Wheel Car!?

Labels: , , , ,

A new keyboard [not entirely a whole keyboard] is coming out soon, the Logitech G13. Apparently, at the press release that it was announced at, they mentioned that it supported World of Warcraft... twice. Amazing. It has the G15's screen, 22 keys, and keys that are backlit(for those late nights playing WoW). It even sports an analog stick, which i don't really think is necessary but, it's there anyway. I can't really think of a use for the analog stick, but maybe that's because i've only played WoW on the computer. It's fairly expensive, being $80, but for you hardcore nerds out there, this might be useful to you. It also supports both Windows and OS X. Personally, i wouldn't get this, because it's pretty expensive and also because i don't have anymore room on my keyboard to fit this thing on there. I've actually never owned any of these extra keyboards or whatever you want to call it, but i'd rather have the G15 on my desk.

What's going on? NBA in 3D? Well, yes. "NBA is teaming up with Turner Sports and CinedigmDigital Cinema to broadcast live in 3D its All-Star Saturday Night events" to 80 movie theaters across the U.S. on February 14. I actually thought this was the first time that NBA was going to be shown in 3D, but after reading this article, it mentioned that they broadcasted one game of the NBA Finals in '07 in 3D and some of the All-Star game of 2007. I read the article, and i don't think it will be available for us, Canadians. It mentions that the event will be shown on about 160 screens in 35 states across the U.S. I actually thought the article was very interesting. It was going to be my LOL of the day after reading the title, but that would actually be kind of cool if i got to see NBA's best in 3D. Watching the Slam Dunk Competition in HD would be pretty ballin' [see what i did there!]. Read the article if you want, too much for me to summarize for you guys.
One of my previous blogs mentioned that Sony Ericsson would be releasing a phone with the Android OS. Well, someone else will also be releasing an Android phone, HTC. According to Engadget, both Sony Ericsson and HTC are only 'semi-confirming' this idea. But, in another article, HTC said that they will launch one or more Android phones in the new year. I think they are only 'semi-confirming' this because they might not want the public to know about their plans and that they're going to announce it when they feel like, blah blah blah. But yes, HTC and Google working together, how much more pro can it get?

A friggin' car with 6 wheels!!? Wow, that's serious. Apparently, it has 'more traction' and has an 'improved absorption of frontal impacts' compared to traditional 4-wheelers. The car looks kind of funny with 6 wheels and kind of looks photoshopped. Thankfully, Gizmodo confirmed that this was not the case. This 6-wheeler car is called the Corvini C6W. The C6W will race at around 185 Mph when the first models roll out in late 2009. The car model looks really good, but awkward at the same time, because of the 6-wheels. Pretty cool, nonetheless.

Google Reader, Opera 10, Nokia N97

Labels: , , , , , , ,

I had no school today. Usually i have to wake up at about 6:30 a.m. so that i can get to school on time. But, last night after the blog about my love, i ended up sleeping at about 4:15 a.m. and i woke up at 7:30 because my girlfriend texted me. I looked at the time and said, ehh, might as well not go to school today. I probably never missed much anyways, Religion is just ehh. Advanced Functions we're doing logarithms, nothing too difficult about that, and for Chemistry it's the first lesson of the unit, so i'm sure it won't be anything too ground breaking.

Since my girlfriend reads these blogs, i gotta somehow keep her interested, so maybe she'd like to know how my day went. So, i woke up at 7:30 because she texted me, but then i went right back to sleep and ended up waking up when she called me. She had her chemistry exam this morning and she called me when it finished. She stopped by her [and my] best friend's place, since it was her birthday. I made myself an omelette when i got out of bed, and stuff. So when she got home, and started studying for her next exam. She's still studying for her Biology exam, and i'm proud that she's working really hard. She told me her Chemistry exam went pretty well, besides 3 questions but, i definitely support her 100% of the way. We got into a small fight last night, but we really cleared it up, :D. I really just love the way she shows how much she cares for me, i've never had a girlfriend like that, and she should already know that. It's actually my ex-girlfriend's birthday tomorrow, but more importantly my 5 month anniversary with my girlfriend in 5 days. I'm excited and am very glad that we've lasted this long, she's definitely a keeper. Although, you're not a tech geek like me, i love that you still support me, i love ya babe.

On to the techy news. A new Google reader interface!! And, i love it. As soon as i saw it, i quickly told my girlfriend in excitement. I don't know of the new features and stuff, but i do know the design is great. On Google's official Google Reader Blog, the title is "Square is the New Round" and usually i love the round designs and stuff but, i can make an exception. A few weeks ago, they changed the iGoogle layout and, personally, i liked it, but it received a LOT of complaints. Generally, i don't complain about thinks, except for Windows Vista, but that receives enough complaints from everyone so i won't get in depth about that. Anyways, the new Google Reader, i definitely love looking at it, and am glad they relocated the "Add a Subscription" bar to the top left. It makes it more visible and more easy to access for it's users. If you want to read more then you can always go to the links i post down below, but i doubt anyone goes on them, besides me.
Today, Opera 10 alpha 1 was released and it is fast. But, faster and more customizable than Firefox? As of right now, it would be a no, although extensions are rumoured to be on the way for the beta. Since it's only an alpha, the Opera browser is pretty much just your bare bones Internet broser, focused on speed. ZDNet.com did some tests comparing the good ol' Firefox and the new and improved Opera 10 alpha 1. Firefox reportedly beat out Opera in 2 tests, the SunSpider JavaScript and Google V8. But, Opera scored a perfect 100/100 on the ACID 3 test, and Firefox was just a small margin behind at 97/100. Some thoughts of mine are that Opera is really not a well-known browser and it is hard for them to get people to try out their browsers. The author of the blog on ZDNet says that "The problem that I see Opera facing is significance. Internet Explorer get its relevance from being shipped with every Windows-based PC, while Firefox has an extensive array of add-ons. What makes Opera special? Sure, I love Opera Mobile and Mini but the desktop version leaved me cold." This statement is very true because the only reason why everyone is using Internet Explorer is because the average user of the Internet just uses whatever browser is installed on their system. Since Windows is dominating the OS war, about 70% of everyone using the Internet is using Internet Explorer. Personally, i am using Google's new browser, Google Chrome, but it is in beta, and for some reason, there is some error that keeps occuring on my laptop, so i'm temporarily using Firefox. Firefox was my number 1 browser until Google Chrome come out. I heard some news about Google Chrome possibly shipping pre-installed on some systems which is actually great news. Anyways, back onto the Opera topic. I tested it out for myself and i must say it has changed since the last time i used it, but it just doesn't seem like the browser to me, since i'm such a Google fanboy and i believe that Google will one day take over the Internet.
I think i mentioned a couple days ago, or yesterday that the Nokia N97 was announced. Apparently, it is going to compete with the iPhone of course, but in all reality, there are so many iPhone competitors and none of them have really been a major competitor. What happened to the Blackberry Storm? (Epic Fail, though the design is very exquisite). Although, I, the Google fanboy, am hoping that the next phone by Google (not the Kogan Agora), the G1 successor, will get the publicity it deserves. Anyways, the Nokia N97 is a slide-phone, but slides sideways (see above picture). I like the design, although, it is kind of plain. Instead of comparing it to the iPhone i'd compare it to my love, the HTC Touch HD, :). So, the new N97, that is scheduled for a Q2 2009 release has a 5 megapixel camera, and listen to this, has 32 GB of internal memory PLUS a 16 GB microSD card. What the hell? 48 GB of memory that, my friend, is insane, to say the least. The N97 has a slightly smaller display than the HTC Touch HD, it has a 3.5 incher (TWSS!). The screen is also a touch screen, i might add. This phone is going for about $700 US, which is much cheaper than the HTC Touch HD, but more expensive than an iPhone. Reading these phone's specs one more time is making me want to cheat on the Touch HD, for this phone but, the design of the HTC Touch HD is want i really fall for. I'm very superficial and i think it might be lust. I forgot to mention that sliding the phone sideways reveals a QWERTY keyboard which is also useful. All in all, a superb phone, but an iPhone competitor? I highly doubt it, but i could be wrong. It, of course, comes with the built-in accelerometer, Wi-fi and 3G support.
I couldn't do this blog without these sites, and of course the new Google Reader keeping me up to date!! By the way, sorry if this is plagirism, please contact me if it is, i don't mean to use your news in a negative way. Special thanks to these sites.

The HTC Touch HD!!

I've decided to write another blog before i go to sleep today. My girlfriend's writing a practice exam and since i'm so nice, i've decided to stay up with her and i need something to kill some time. So, here we go, gonna talk about my second love, the HTC Touch HD that was released last Wednesday.

I've been in love with this phone ever since i saw the spec sheet and pictures on gsmarena.com a few months ago. I've read the 9 page review on gsmarena.com of this phone about 3 times and I think this phone is amazing. It packs a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-fi, 3G, touch-screen, accelerometer and 8 gb of storage. What's there not to love, besides the fact that it is running on Windows Mobile. Another disadvantage for the average person might be that it is a bit bigger and a bit heavy, but my phone is the Nokia N81, and the weight and size of the HTC Touch HD wouldn't bother me. Especially since this phone is packed with a 3.8 inch screen and even has a radio (for those that listen to the radio, i'm not a huge fan.) Another possible disadvantage could be the lack of a TV out port, but seriously, no biggy, for me at least. This phone completely rapes the iPhone's specs, in every way possible, besides the price. But, here in Canada if you're going to get an iPhone with a contract, in the end, the iPhone will end up costing more than an unlocked HTC Touch HD. Unfortunately, it's being released everywhere except for North America, but that shouldn't be a problem for me to get either, since i got my phone from the Philippines. As i said, the price is still a huge factor, it's going for about 930 - 950 US dollars.
The HTC Touch HD's interface is much improved from the HTC Touch Diamond. An amazing feature the Touch HD has is that you can actually turn your phone face down and it will mute your call. This is the first time i have actually heard of something like this for a phone, although it may have been done before. If you turn the phone face down while it is ringing, it will mute your ringer. This works by using the built-in accelerometer, the feature that flips the screen as you turn your device sideways (many devices have this, see iPhone, the new iPod Nano, even cameras.) As i said earlier, the HTC Touch HD's interface has improved and, of course, it used a similar design to Apple's 'cover flow' in their 'Music' tab. All that said, the HTC Touch HD uses Opera to browse the internet, and has a stylus, but who uses those things anymore? The weather tab looks amazing, and has a great looking design and a 5-day forecast. The e-mail tab has a nice look to it (see posted link later).  If there are too many tabs for you to handle, (I did leave out several tabs) you can, of course, customize which ones appear on your screen and also the order they are shown in.
The contacts tab is very well-designed and this is usually the case in Windows Mobile so we'll move along.
Testing the most important feature, the ability to make calls and the clarity!!! Looking at gsmarena.com's tests of the phone it actually came out as an 'Excellent' on their speakerphone test. The HTC Touch HD beat out the LG KS20, iPhone 3G, Samsung INNOV8, HTC Touch Pro and the HTC Touch Diamond in this category.
As i mentioned earlier, the music tab features a look similiar to the popular 'cover flow.' There is an equalizer that you can set to your own needs or you can use several presets. The image gallery also looks amazing but, is unfortunately lacking the iPhone's 2-touch zooming functionality. There is the full QWERTY, the QW-ER-TY and the traditional 9 number keypads.
The sound quality of the HTC Touch HD is definitely a step compared to it's older models, the HTC Touch Diamond and the HTC Touch Pro, but is still somewhat lacking. The gsmarena crew also noticed that the video playback might have actually been worse than the HTC Touch Diamond but they figured that because of the overwhelming 3.8 inch screen, this could have been predicted ahead of time.
They put the 5 megapixel camera to test, and in most cases it was actually better then the Samsung i900 Omnia's 5 megapixel shooter. They also put it side-by-side with one of the best 5 megapixel phones out right now, the Nokia N82. Of course, the HTC Touch HD's camera is a step-up from their previous devices.
Did i mention the pre-installed game on the HTC Touch HD? It sounds really fun, it is called the Teeter. It puts the accelerometer to good use. You must navigate silver balls avoiding various holes in a maze-like course and when your balls hit the walls (Ouch!) the phone even gives you a small vibration.
This was basically my short summary of the gsmarena.com's 9-page review. I love this phone and if i had the money i would get this without even thinking. A 5-megapixel camera, Wi-fi, 3G, accelerometer, 8 GB of memory, 3.8 inch touch-screen, gorgeous design / interface and don't forget the game, Teeter. The HTC Touch HD definitely has more than enough reasons for anyone to get this phone. If i see anyone with this phone here in Canada, i would probably faint.
I just had to confess my undying love for this phone, sorry for my rambling and lack of organization.
Thanks mostly to gsmarena.com for keeping me up to date on all the mobile devices, and here's a link to last week's 9 page review on the HTC Touch HD, i hope this was a good read!! :D
