Motorola XOOM With LTE Hits the FCC, Probably Not the XOOM 2

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Motorola looks like they could be testing their successor to the XOOM Android "Honeycomb" tablet. Another one of their tablets have hit the FCC and it's a bit bigger but also a bit slimmer than the original XOOM that's been out for a while. Rumour has it that this is the XOOM 2 but I doubt it. It could just be the XOOM with integrated LTE connectivity and that's what I'm betting on. If that's the case then we should be hearing about it soon. The XOOM has only been out for a few months and we're still a few months away from seeing a wave of Tegra 3 tablets storm the market so it can't be the successor. This one looks like it'll be a slight upgrade over the XOOM. Check it out at the FCC.

Motorola XOOM LTE and DROID 3 Headed To Verizon Soon

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

The latest leak coming from Droid-Life tells us that two new devices are on the way. They are the Motorola XOOM LTE and the DROID 3 which was made official overseas already. These are both pretty good devices and the latter is reportedly scheduled for a July 7th release. The Motorola XOOM might be a new model but, of course, it could just be the old model with LTE connectivity which wouldn't be surprising.

Motorola XOOM Hits the FCC With AT&T and Canadian 3G Support

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

A new model of the Motorola XOOM has just hit the FCC and it's perfect for AT&T in the US since it has 3G 850/1900MHz bands. Of course, this tablet is also available in Canada so it could also be available shortly up North as well. This tablet will be a 3G "Honeycomb" tablet that'll of course also have WiFi so if you're willing to pay a monthly data contract for Internet access everywhere then you may want to wait for this one. Check it out at the FCC.

Motorola XOOM To Hit Telus On April 19th, HP Touchpad This Summer For $499

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Two bits of information coming from Mobile Syrup regarding tablets in Canada. First off, the WiFi-only Motorola XOOM which is already available at Best Buy will be hitting Telus on April 19th. Price should be the same, so expect it for $599.99 - that's a 32GB model.

The other tablet is the 9.7-inch HP Touchpad that'll be running webOS 3.0. We already know this one should be launching in the Summer and it's looking like it'll be in June / July and the price tag seems to be $499. Yes, that's lower than the XOOM but I believe that'll be a 16GB model and it only has a front-facing camera. Of course, on the inside the Touchpad packs a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon which is a bit faster than the Tegra 2 in the XOOM. Interesting stuff, for sure!

According to the image above, the company could be looking to ship a 16GB XOOM in the near future and it should be even cheaper than the current model - possibly $499. This is unconfirmed right now but it would be a pretty good idea to do so.

The WiFi-only Motorola XOOM is still priced at $599 so that's pretty good if you didn't pick up an iPad 2 a few days ago. I want to get a XOOM - if only I had the money.

DigiTimes Reports That Motorola Only Producing XOOM Until June, Hinting At Refresh

Labels: , , , , , ,

A new report coming from DigiTimes has just mentioned something that's quite interesting. Apparently, Motorola is only ordering XOOM tablets until June of this year. Now, this doesn't really tell us much but actually does hint that Motorola could have something better up their sleeve for Q3 of this year. They actually could be unveiling the next XOOM in the middle of this year and maybe it'll be running an improved version of the Android tablet OS. Interesting.

WiFi-Only Motorola XOOM Up For $599 Pre-Orders In Canada, Shipping April 8th

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Finally, we have word on the Motorola XOOM headed to Canada. The WiFi-only variant will be available in April while the 3G model won't be available until "mid-year" so you can expect a June / Summer release for that one. I don't really know why they have to wait so long but, oh well.

Update: Another Mobile Syrup post has just caught the photo you see above. Future Shop and Best Buy has listed the WiFi-only XOOM for $599.99. You can pre-order one right now if you want to. It also shows an estimated release date of April 8th so that's something to look forward to.

Sprint's CTIA Announcements Leak: HTC EVO 3D, EVO View 4G, Motorola XOOM, BB Playbook

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Well, Sprint's CTIA announcements have just been spoiled. BGR has just broke the news that they'll be announcing the HTC EVO 3D, EVO View 4G, Motorola XOOM, the Samsung Rant 3, and a WiFi-only BlackBerry Playbook as well as one with WiMAX connectivity. Pretty awesome stuff. Now, let's get into the specs, shall we?

First off, we have the EVO 3D which is said to feature a 4.3-inch qHD 3D display (960 x 540 resolution), a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 8660 CPU, a 5MP camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, a 1,730mAh battery, an HDMI port that will output 1080p and even 720p video, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, and Android 2.3 with the Sense UI. The smartphone is also said to have the Blockbuster 3D app as well as YouTube 3D. If you're buying into the 3D trend then this may actually be the phone for you.

Next up is reportedly the EVO View 4G. This one will be sporting a 7-inch display (1,024 x 600 resolution), an aluminum unibody, a 5MP camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 3.0 support, a 4,000mAh battery, DLNA, HDMI output, and Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" with the Sense UI. It's pretty much exactly like we've been hearing. An HTC Flyer with WiMAX capabilities. Not exactly the best tablet on the market.

Moving along we have the XOOM which will be exactly like the Verizon model but it'll have WiMAX capabilities instead. No clue if it'll initially ship with the device. There's also word on the Samsung Rant 3 which is the most uninteresting of the bunch. This one is said to be a 3G touchscreen handset which is reportedly eco-friendly since it'll have a solar panel on the door... or something like that. The last one is the BlackBerry Playbook which Sprint will be announcing. It'll come in two models, like I said: WiFi-only and WiMAX. I'm assuming there'll be a regular 3G model as well. Definitely quite a big showing for Sprint, so this event should be exciting.

Four Android Tablets Get Priced For Europe; Acer A100, Transformer, XOOM, and Optimus Pad

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A bunch of upcoming tablets for Europe has just been priced. It's everything you see above so that includes the €349 Acer Iconia A100, €399 Asus Eee Pad, €699 Motorola XOOM, and €849 LG Optimus Pad. It's actually pretty surprising that the A100 will be so inexpensive since it's running Android "Honeycomb" which means that the price could actually be right. The one that surprised me the most is that the 3D-capable Optimus Pad will cost so much money so I doubt that'll be flying off of the shelves. The unknown Eee Pad could actually be the Transformer so that's a decent price for a Tegra 2 tablet.

Of course, what we're missing here is the release dates which are still unknown right now. Some of these were supposed to be available in March but that's looking doubtful. Expect a Q2 launch; yes, I'm being vague.

Sprint-Branded Motorola XOOM Spotted, Will It Have WiMAX?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

A new kind of Motorola XOOM has just leaked and, no, it's not the WiFi-only one or something XOOM with integrated 4G (LTE) connectivity. If you take a look at the photo above, it's actually a XOOM with Sprint branding on it. Awesome stuff. Furthermore, we don't know if this will be a WiMAX model but maybe it'll be upgradeable just like the XOOM on Verizon is. Since all that leaked is a photo, we don't know when this will be available.

WiFi-Only XOOM Officially Launching On March 27th For $599

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Finally, Motorola has made the WiFi-only XOOM official! It'll officially be available on Sunday, March 27th for $599.99 which isn't too bad considering it has 32GB of internal storage. The tablet features a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution, a dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 5MP AF camera, a front-facing camera, and Android "Honeycomb" which looks amazing "for geeks". Now I just have to wait for this one to hit Canada.

Staples Leak Shows A Bunch of Tablets Coming This Year; 8.9-Inch Samsung, 10-Inch HTC, 7-Inch HP, and More!

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Wow, another huge Staples leak has just been spotted and it's coming from their training guide - the one below is coming from a "major retailer" as well, but it could also be Staples. If this isn't the year of the tablets then I don't know what is. The leak shows several tablets that'll be launching this year. We'll just go in order starting with the Motorola XOOM which could be launching this week (March 17th) for $649; it's looking like this one will be the WiFi-only model. Next up is RIM's BlackBerry Playbook which could be launching on March 27th for $499 (16GB), $599 (32GB), and $699 (64GB). Keep in mind that this date might have moved to April. There's also word on the 7-inch Dell Streak 7 which will be launching in late March / April as well; price for that one should be $449 as well - it's already available on T-Mobile.

Now, for the coming soon tablets we have a bunch of them running on Android "Honeycomb" which is great news. We have the 8.9-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab which should be announced next week, the Dell Streak 10, a 10-inch Acer, and a 10-inch Toshiba. It's unknown what the 10-inch Acer tablet will be but it could be the Eee Pad EP101TC, which is a complete guess. The 10-inch Toshiba has been teased by them since January but they have yet to make it official. There's also word on a 10-inch HTC Android "Honeycomb" tablet that's on the way. This one hasn't been announced yet but I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Last, but definitely not least there's word on the 10-inch HP Touchpad running on the next version of webOS along with an unannounced 7-inch model. This will likely get announced at the company's next event which is in a few weeks. Amazing stuff!
