Crunch Gear has been keeping their eye out for the ExoPC tablet and they've come through yet again. According to Blog Geek, this tablet will have the Broadcom Crystal HD chip so that's actually quite impressive. In addition to that news, the ExoPC will reportedly hit France, US, and Canada starting on September 7th so it's still quite a ways away. The price isn't known yet, so we'll have to wait for that.

If you own a Google Nexus One then you should keep in mind that you could be getting an upgrade to WiFi 802.11n in the near future. Apparently, Google and Broadcom are working on a driver that will activate it and it could come in the next Android update (version 2.2 aka Froyo). This is great news, seeing how it could be getting announced and possibly released next month (May 19th at Google I/O).

Broadcom VideoCore IV Chip To Support 20MP Images and Full HD 1080p Video Recording, Coming To Handsets In 2011

Just when you thought 12MP was enough, we heard about Toshiba's processor that will support up to 14.6MP camera sensors on mobile phones. Well, Broadcom has one-upped them with their latest VideoCore IV processor. This processor can handle 20MP images and can even record 1080p video (in H.264 format, which is what they use on Blu-ray discs) if the camera sensor on your mobile phone is good enough. Of course, it'll also have image stabilization and face / smile detection. With this chip you'll also be able to play back Full HD video over HDMI (possibly using micro HDMI in the future).
"The last trick that the Broadcom VideoCore IV has up its sleeve is that it works as a GPU with 128MB LPDDR2 of dedicated RAM, for rendering 3D graphics." Damn, technology evolves too fast. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until 2011 for all of this goodness to hit cell phones.

HTC Looking At Broadcom For 3.5G Chipsets, Currently Developing Tegra-Based Handset?
It looks like DigiTimes is back at it again. According to the latest rumour, HTC is looking at Broadcom for new 3.5G chipsets - even though HTC uses Qualcomm all the time. This would help HTC create more "mid to entry-level smartphones." The rumour mill also mentioned that HTC is currently developing handsets with 3.5G chips and Nvidia's Tegra. Talk about awesome.

New Broadcom Chip Has Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, and FM Radio; Could Be In the Next iPod Touch

Broadcom makes Apple's iPod Touch Bluetooth chips and here's a look at their newest chip. The Broadcom BCM4325 has Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, and FM radio capabilities. This could be utilized in the next iPod Touch, but don't count on the FM radio being activated. The current chip for the iPod Touch has FM radio capabilities, but it doesn't have the feature unlocked so thank Apple for that. I'm excited to see what other specs the next iPod Touch will have because I'm interested in getting one with Bluetooth 3.0 and maybe some 802.11n wireless capabilities.
