T-Mobile Bound Motorola Charm Leaks, Rocking Android 2.1 With Enhanced MOTOBLUR

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

This is unconfirmed right now, but it's looking pretty legit. The fat phone you see above is reportedly headed to T-Mobile USA and will be called the Motorola Charm. This smartphone will be running on Android 2.1 along with "enhanced Motoblur." The handset will, of course, have a physical QWERTY keyboard along with social integration. This same Motoblur experience could find its way onto the CLIQ and the CLIQ XT as well, so maybe there's an update coming soon.

Canada Getting the Motorola DEXT, Quench, and the Backflip In H1!

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

It looks like Canada is getting a couple of good Motorola Android-based phones in the first half of this year. Apparently, the include the Motorola DEXT (CLIQ in the US), the Quench (CLIQ XT in the US), and the Backflip. All of these handsets have Motorola's own MOTOBLUR skin (for social integration) over top of Android. Unfortunately, we don't know which carrier will get what handset so we'll have to wait around for that information. Check out Motorola's site here.

HTC Hero and Motorola CLIQ Getting Their Own Android 2.1 Update In March

Labels: , , , , , ,

It looks like two handsets will be getting the Android 2.1 in the near future. The HTC Hero is getting the Android 2.1 update in the middle March with Sense UI. This one's confirmed. It'll also bring a new Friend Stream widget "that aggregates user updates across services."

This one's unconfirmed but if you believe Boy Genius' sources then the Motorola CLIQ (on T-Mobile) will be getting the Android 2.1 update as well. If true, this should be available in March as well.

Motorola Backflip Now Official; Android 2.1 and Flash 10.1 Update In the Future

Labels: , , , , , ,

At this point we already know that the Motorola Backflip is headed to AT&T in Q1 of this year as one of their first Android phones. Well, Motorola has finally made the handset official. This handset will feature everything we already know: MOTOBLUR on top of Android 2.1, a 5MP camera, WiFi / 3G support, an awkward hinge, and there's even a touchpad on the back. To make things even better, Motorola also mentioned that all of their Android handsets will get updated to Android 2.1 eventually. Flash 10.1 will also make an appearance on the DROID, which should be getting an update (not for Flash support) soon.

Anyways, check out the Backflip page here.

Best Buy Set To Launch a Bunch of Devices This Holiday Season -- All Leaked Out

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A new Best Buy leak shows off what they have in store for us during this holiday season. The above photo is not that important to me, so you can read that for yourself; the more interesting picture is below which outlines their future devices.

  • Nokia Booklet netbook — October 25th launch, and can be activated on AT&T
  • Sprint HTC Hero — launching October 11th with a presale going on now
  • Sprint Palm Pixi — launch date TBD
  • Verizon Storm II — launch date TBD
  • Verizon Android device — launch date TBD
  • T-Mobile CLIQ — launch date TBD (but we obviously know it’s shipping after October 19th up until general release November 2nd)
  • “New BlackBerry devices across multiple carriers” — launch date TBD
  • There will be a “host of devices launch in late October and November for all carriers.” Multiple Android launches across multiple carriers and “new technology which doesn’t exist today.”

The Palm Pixi was rumoured to be launching on October 20th, but that's probably false. The Verizon Android device could be the Motorola Droid / Tao / Sholes, but I'm not certain. We now know that the T-Mobile CLIQ will be launching on November 2nd - with the pre-orders starting on October 19th. The BlackBerries could involve the Curve 8530 and the BlackBerry 9700 (Bold 2). Are you excited?

Motorola To Release 10 Android Handsets Over the Next 6-10 Months; CLIQ Promo Video

Labels: , , , , ,

Motorola is slowly going down the drain and to get out they're going to have to ride Google's back by utilizing their open-source Android OS. They've already announced the CLIQ / DEXT and a certain "prediction" has been made. The prediction is that Motorola will be releasing ten Android-based handsets over the next 6 to 10 months. This prediction could be fairly accurate given the lengthy time span that was stated (6 to 10 months). They have yet to officially announce the Sholes, so Motorola only has 8 more to go.

The Motorola CLIQ is set to launch on T-Mobile soon and below is a short 1 minute and 10 second video on the said handset. You can take a look at MOTOBLUR on this handset, so just check it out already!

The price hasn't been mentioned, but Boy Genius reminds us that Rogers could be launching the BlackBerry 9700 in the middle of next month (October).

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Orange UK has just officially announced that they will be launching the Motorola DEXT for free on a 2-year contract. Of course, you'll have to sign up for a contract in which you'll have to fork over at least £34.26 ($57 USD) a month. We still don't know exactly when it will launch, but it should be pretty soon.

T-Mobile Starting Pre-Orders For The Motorola CLIQ On October 19th; Motorola Planning To Release CLIQ On All "Major" Carriers in the US

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

As you can barely see in the photo above, it leaks that T-Mobile will have the Android-based Motorola CLIQ up for pre-orders starting on October 19th. It looks like this handset will really be hitting the US in November, which is just under two months away! Don't forget social integration with MOTOBLUR!

According to Sanjay Jha, Motorola's Co-CEO, they are going to attempt to sell the Motorola CLIQ on all of the big phone carriers across the US. So, this means you'll be able to scoop up the CLIQ on any carrier you want: T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon or AT&T - that is, if this happens. Hey, I hope they don't forget about us up here in Canada.

In related news, the Motorola DEXT will be launching as early as next month on Orange UK for free on a contract.

Motorola Only Releasing 5 Android-Based Handsets By the End of the Year

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

According to the latest - and likely - unconfirmed news Motorola will only be releasing 5 Android-based handsets by the end of the year. Earlier this year, we heard that the number would be closer to 10, but today that turns out to be false. We know of three devices - really only 2 - from Motorola, that's the "Morrison" that will be released as the Motorola CLIQ and the DEXT; the other device is the "Sholes." I'm hoping that the CLIQ and DEXT doesn't count as two handsets because it's basically the same phone.

Motorola CLIQ Launching Next Month -- Even If the Chart Doesn't Say So

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Although in the picture above it shows that T-Mobile will launch the Motorola CLIQ in November, according to the reports, it's also outdated. We have no proof here, but we heard this morning that the CLIQ would be launching in October and that date sticks whether there is proof or not - simply because that's what everyone else is saying right now. Either way, it looks like it'll be here in time for the holiday season.

T-Mobile USA Launching Android-Based Motorola CLIQ In October

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

We already know that the Android-based Motorola CLIQ will be available for pre-orders on Orange UK on September 22nd as the Motorola DEXT, and now we know that T-Mobile could be launching this handset as early as next month (October). We don't know the price right now, but it won't be in the high-end $199.99 category. We do know that for a brief stint, T-Mobile had the CLIQ listed for free on a 2-year contract and $400 off-contract. Hopefully that price becomes a reality for Motorola's sake. This is the first Android-based Motorola handset that will be running MOTOBLUR - their customized Android UI.

Motorola DEXT / CLIQ To Be Available For Pre-Orders On Orange UK Starting On September 22nd

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

The Motorola CLIQ is already up on T-Mobile's website with a "Coming Soon" badge and now we're hearing that the CLIQ - that will launch as the Motorola DEXT overseas - will be available for pre-orders starting on September 22nd on Orange UK. The pricing hasn't been mentioned, but I'm pretty sure it'll be available for free. The key here is that you'll be stuck on a contract in which you'll have to fork over at least £35 ($59 USD) a month. Don't forget that this Android device has Motorola's MOTOBLUR UI, so it looks more attractive than some Android phones out there.
