Boy Genius is back at it again, this time leaking the first live photo and spilling some details of Verizon's second Android handset, the Motorola Calgary. Clearly, this handset is running Android with MOTOBLUR. It may not be as sexy or as high-end as the Motorola Droid, but it is another Android handset from Motorola. This [plasticky-looking] handset comes packed with: a touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, an optical joystick, three touch-sensitive buttons, a 3MP camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS / WiFi support, and a microSD card slot. Boy Genius points out that we'll likely see a Q4 release date for this handset, of course, on Verizon.

With MOTOBLUR expect this handset to have tight social integration - targeted at teens.

As a reminder, you should probably know that you can now get your hands on the Motorola CLIQ if you're an existing T-Mobile customer. If you're not then you're going to have to wait a couple more days, November 2, because that's when you'll be getting your chance. Anyways, this handset comes with Android and is layered with their MOTOBLUR that has deep social integration. You can now get this handset here for $199.99 USD on a 2-year contract.

Tmo Today got their hands on a "brochure" which shows some Motorola CLIQ love. It's, basically, an advertisement for the handset and it explains everything you need to know about MOTOBLUR and "Happenings." The brochure also confirms that pre-orders for this handset will take place on October 19th, but we already knew that. Check out this link for the promotional information.

Motorola is slowly going down the drain and to get out they're going to have to ride Google's back by utilizing their open-source Android OS. They've already announced the CLIQ / DEXT and a certain "prediction" has been made. The prediction is that Motorola will be releasing ten Android-based handsets over the next 6 to 10 months. This prediction could be fairly accurate given the lengthy time span that was stated (6 to 10 months). They have yet to officially announce the Sholes, so Motorola only has 8 more to go.

According to the latest unconfirmed news, the Android-based Motorola CLIQ and the BlackBerry 9700 (Bold 2) could be launching on T-Mobile in two months. T-Mobile looks like they could be launching both of these handsets on November 11th. The price hasn't been mentioned, but Boy Genius reminds us that Rogers could be launching the BlackBerry 9700 in the middle of next month (October).

Orange UK has just officially announced that they will be launching the Motorola DEXT for free on a 2-year contract. Of course, you'll have to sign up for a contract in which you'll have to fork over at least £34.26 ($57 USD) a month. We still don't know exactly when it will launch, but it should be pretty soon.

As you can barely see in the photo above, it leaks that T-Mobile will have the Android-based Motorola CLIQ up for pre-orders starting on October 19th. It looks like this handset will really be hitting the US in November, which is just under two months away! Don't forget social integration with MOTOBLUR!

According to Sanjay Jha, Motorola's Co-CEO, they are going to attempt to sell the Motorola CLIQ on all of the big phone carriers across the US. So, this means you'll be able to scoop up the CLIQ on any carrier you want: T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon or AT&T - that is, if this happens. Hey, I hope they don't forget about us up here in Canada.

In related news, the Motorola DEXT will be launching as early as next month on Orange UK for free on a contract.

According to the latest - and likely - unconfirmed news Motorola will only be releasing 5 Android-based handsets by the end of the year. Earlier this year, we heard that the number would be closer to 10, but today that turns out to be false. We know of three devices - really only 2 - from Motorola, that's the "Morrison" that will be released as the Motorola CLIQ and the DEXT; the other device is the "Sholes." I'm hoping that the CLIQ and DEXT doesn't count as two handsets because it's basically the same phone.

Although in the picture above it shows that T-Mobile will launch the Motorola CLIQ in November, according to the reports, it's also outdated. We have no proof here, but we heard this morning that the CLIQ would be launching in October and that date sticks whether there is proof or not - simply because that's what everyone else is saying right now. Either way, it looks like it'll be here in time for the holiday season.

We already know that the Android-based Motorola CLIQ will be available for pre-orders on Orange UK on September 22nd as the Motorola DEXT, and now we know that T-Mobile could be launching this handset as early as next month (October). We don't know the price right now, but it won't be in the high-end $199.99 category. We do know that for a brief stint, T-Mobile had the CLIQ listed for free on a 2-year contract and $400 off-contract. Hopefully that price becomes a reality for Motorola's sake. This is the first Android-based Motorola handset that will be running MOTOBLUR - their customized Android UI.

The Motorola CLIQ is already up on T-Mobile's website with a "Coming Soon" badge and now we're hearing that the CLIQ - that will launch as the Motorola DEXT overseas - will be available for pre-orders starting on September 22nd on Orange UK. The pricing hasn't been mentioned, but I'm pretty sure it'll be available for free. The key here is that you'll be stuck on a contract in which you'll have to fork over at least £35 ($59 USD) a month. Don't forget that this Android device has Motorola's MOTOBLUR UI, so it looks more attractive than some Android phones out there.

This afternoon, Motorola officially announced the Motorola CLIQ / DEXT with MOTOBLUR. Well, what you do know, a couple of hours later it was spotted on T-Mobile's own website for free on a 2-year contract or $399.99 USD off-contract, which seems to me like a great deal - if it's true that is. Unfortunately, it was pulled shortly after, so we'll just have to wait for the official release, which will probably be sooner rather than later.

Update on September 11th: According to Tmo Today, the Motorola CLIQ is back on T-Mobile's website again. This time it has a "Coming Soon" badge and the price isn't mentioned. The rumoured Motorola CLIQ is now official and it's headed to T-Mobile in Q4 of this year. At Motorola's event earlier today, they announced this Android-based phone. The CLIQ will be launched as the DEXT overseas and it'll be hitting Orange, Telefonica, and America Movil. Anyways, the CLIQ / DEXT has: a 3.1-inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 resolution, 3G / WiFi 802.11 b/g support, a 5MP camera that can record 25fps video, Stereo Bluetooth, aGPS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 512MB of ROM, a microSDHC card slot, 256MB of RAM, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and will be available in Winter White and Titanium colours. This handset will be running Motorola's own customized version of Google's mobile OS, called MOTOBLUR, which you'll find below. You can check out the CLIQ on T-Mobile's official website here.

So, this MOTOBLUR - formerly rumoured to be just Blur - will be Motorola's way of customizing Android - since it's open-source and all. Engadget said it best: "It's built around social networking, and it features live widgets that integrate Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, MySpace, Yahoo, Last.fm and more. Like Palm's Synergy, Blur aggregates all your contacts into a single address book, but it shows you recent status updates along with photos when contacts all you -- very slick. There's also remote wipe and GPS tracking like MobileMe." Don't forget to watch the short video of the CLIQ below. Have fun watching it do nothing.

Like me, you may be wondering what significance these two photos above have. Well, it's a photo of the Android App Market and it's actually a bit different, but why? According to the latest unconfirmed news, this could be the first screenshots of Motorola's customized Android UI called Blur. We heard about Blur earlier this month and maybe we'll see it at Motorola's event on the 10th of this month. It may or may not be Blur, so we'll just have to see what happens later this month.

Update: According to both Phone Arena and Engadget Mobile, what you see above is the new Android Market that has apparently been spotted on the Motorola Sholes. This is definitely more attractive to the eyes, it definitely beats the dark UI that the App Market currently has.

If you've been keeping up with the news at all, you should know that Motorola's Android handset, the Sholes / Shules will be heading to Verizon, thanks to earlier reports of this rocking CDMA. Take a look at what he heard today, via Boy Genius.

• The Shules will launch with Eclair — Donut is so H1 2009, and Motorola’s upcoming Android slider will reportedly drop with Eclair on board. It may even be the “flagship” Eclair handset intended to showcase all of the new features Android will have obtained with Eclair’s release.
• The Shules will be a gaming beast — The handset is optimized for ARMv7 architecture and will be able to gobble up 3D graphics and games like none other. Supposedly.
• There is a GSM version of the Shules in the works — While Verizon will get the CDMA version of the Motorola Shules this year as an exclusive, there is already a GSM version in the pipeline and it should land on AT&T, or T-Mobile, some time in 2010.
• The Flash is still on track — One of the many handsets we scooped last year, the Flash, is still said to be making its way to Verizon and it should launch in early 2010. This further supports what we speculated earlier month.

Interesting, isn't it? You may remember the Flash below and it looks like it will launch in 2010. The Sholes / Shules launching on AT&T and T-Mobile is definitely a positive thing - the more carriers, the merrier. Just in case you didn't know, "Eclair" is a version of Android, similar to Cupcake and Donut. We could see multitouch on this handset, since we've heard reports of Android having multitouch support somewhere down the line. I know everyone's curious about Motorola's Blur UI though and that's what I'm waiting for.

We know that Motorola is launching Android handsets soon and the only two we know of so far is the Morrison and the Sholes / Shules. To get back in the game, Motorola is going to work hard to adapt to Android as much as they can. Like HTC's Sense UI on the Hero, Motorola plans to throw a customized UI onto their Android handsets. They're calling the UI "Blur" and below is what we know about it so far.
