Tomorrow is a big DROID day for Verizon, so they've got the launch of the LG Chocolate Touch (VX8575) out of the way. Verizon now has the Chocolate Touch available for you to buy for $79.99 on a 2-year contract after a $50 rebate. It comes equipped with everything we've known about, that's: a 3-inch touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 resolution, pre-loaded Verizon stuff, a 3.2MP camera, EV-DO Rev. 0 connectivity, 1GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot. Go on Verizon's website here if you want to buy it - but I think you should wait until the DROID launch tomorrow.
Update: Alltel looks like they have also launched this handset as well, but they're calling it the LG AX8575 Touch. It's available for free after a $50 mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract with them though. Check it out on Alltel's website here.

LG has just unveiled their latest touchscreen phone, the LG SB210, and it bears a striking resemblance the Chocolate Touch VX8575. This handset has: a 3-inch touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 resolution, a 3MP camera, a microSD card slot, GPS support, and a 1,000 mAh battery. There's something interesting about this handset though, "it also offers maps for 280 golf courses and other golf-related services, including a so-called 'Receive PJT' application." This handset will be available sometime this month for 638,000 KRW ($539 USD).

According to the latest unconfirmed rumour, Verizon should be stocking up the LG VX8575 Chocolate Touch sometime in the next two weeks. This handset will be outed with a 3.2MP camera and old-school EV-DO Rev. 0 connectivity (yup, no Rev. A here). We'll just have to wait around and see if this comes true, even though we're not that interested in it.

Above is yet another photo of the Verizon-bound LG VX8575. There's not much left to say here, but we do know that it looks nothing like the elegant LG BL40.
Update on September 23rd: According to Phone Arena, the latest rumour states this handset will be coming to Verizon on October 18th. Of course, it's not confirmed yet, but I just though I'd let you know.

First Leaked Picture of the Verizon LG Chocolate Touch? -- Hopes and Dreams Go Down the Drain

After much debate on what exactly the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 hitting Verizon will be, this appears and is supposedly the first leaked picture of the said handset. It's not confirmed at the time, but it's definitely not the LG BL40, that's for sure. The back of the handset (below) definitely looks weird, cracked, shiny, etc. Well, way to shatter our dreams LG and Verizon. We'll definitely have to wait for the launch of the BL40 now.

Verizon Launching Motorola Sholes and LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 in October
According to this so-called internal Verizon document, Verizon is readying up a few launches in October. October marks the month where we'll see the Android-based Motorola Sholes and the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575. The dates we heard yesterday about the BlackBerry Storm 2 are also confirmed on this document, so it could really be the real deal. I'm more excited about the Sholes. By the way, we still don't know exactly what the Chocolate Touch VX8575 is, but I know a lot of people out there are hoping it's the LG BL40.

LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 Passes the FCC
At this point, we still don't know what the LG Chocolate VX8575 is, but we're hoping it closely resembles - or is - the LG BL40. On the FCC listing, the Chocolate Touch has: a touchscreen display, a camera, Bluetooth, GPS support, and EVDO support. Unfortunately, the FCC filing also says that this device will not have WiFi or an FM transmitter. This could mean that this will hit Verizon, since they are known for pulling stuff off of their handsets - more specifically pulling WiFi on the BlackBerry Storm. We'll just have to wait until more information about this handset pops up because that's all we can do. In the meantime, you can check out this link. It identifies a couple of handsets that are scheduled to be released on August 23 - hint: the LG Chocolate Touch is one of them.
