Rogers actually started offering a pretty sweet deal starting yesterday. A couple of their "Webphones" are now way under the $100 price mark. The LG Eve, BlackBerry Bold 9000 (the white one), the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, the HTC Magic, and the Nokia N86 are all available for just $0.99 on a 3-year contract. The contract-free prices are still the same though, so they're still expensive if you like to buy your phones that way. Pretty sweet deal - especially compared to Bell's...

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 owners look like they're out of luck. Sony Ericsson has just announced that WinMo 6.5 will not be headed to the XPERIA X1. You can always hope someone else successfully ports it for you though, it just won't be coming from Sony Ericsson's headquarters.

We heard about it last week and it's now in effect. Rogers has just launched a couple of smartphones in the sub-$100 CAD range - on a 3-year contract. These include: the original BlackBerry Bold 9000 in black and white (for $99.99), the Curve 8900 (for $79.99), the Curve 8520 (for $49.99), the LG Eve GW620 (for $49.99), the XPERIA X1 (for $99.99), and the HTC Magic (for $79). You can actually head over to Rogers' website here to check out all of these deals.

Well, it looks like Rogers is set to launch what they're calling "Web phones" and there'll be 5 of them in total (all under $100 CAD) - this could possibly be due to all of the hype that both Bell and Telus have been receiving lately. The 5 handsets will be the white BlackBerry Bold 9000, the HTC Magic, the LG Eve (GW620), the Nokia N86, and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. Yes, the white BB Bold, LG Eve, and the N86 will be "new" handsets in Canada, but the XPERIA X1 isn't new - the big price drop is definitely welcomed though. The pricing details are below, thanks to Mobile Syrup.
Update: This handsets could be launching on November 3rd, since that's when the LG Eve (GW620) will launch - according to Phandroid.

Rogers has just unveiled some of their future handsets and it's a pretty good line-up. Take a look at it below, courtesy of Boy Genius.
LG Rumor 2 (Solo Mobile) — ETA: May 25th, outright: $160.00, 2-year contract: $75.00
Sony Ericsson C905 — ETA: May 19th (delayed), outright: $449.99, 3-year contract: $249.99 ($299.99 without Rogers Vision)
HTC Dream — ETA: June 2nd (limited quantity, availability will increase by June 12th), outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99
HTC Magic — ETA: June 2nd, outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 — ETA: June 30th (barring additional delays), outright: TBD ($649 - $749), 3-year: $299.99 (will launch at $249.99)
iPhone — ETA: unknown (July/August), outright: not allowed, 3-year: TBD
As you can see, the HTC Dream and Magic are going to be available for as low as $199 on a 3-year contract. What's surprising is that 2 days ago, we heard that Rogers would sell the HTC Dream and Magic for $549 off-contract, but it looks like the price has shot up to $649. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 will also be making its debut as one of the most expensive handsets to launch on Rogers in a while. The one that should create the most buzz is Rogers' listing of the next iPhone pegged for a July / August release. The pricing is still TBD, but it's still interesting news.
