It looks like one of the first two Android devices that hit Canada will be getting Android 2.1. It won't be the HTC Dream. It's been confirmed that the HTC Magic on Rogers will be getting the Android 2.1 update, so that definitely sucks for Dream owners. The Magic will also get the Sense UI over top of Android 2.1 so that's definitely great news. Below is what Mobile Syrup got.

Rogers has cut the price of the HTC Dream yet again. This time it's only $49.99 CAD on a 3-year contract on Rogers and also $449.99 on a 2-year contract, $524.99 on a 1-year contract and $549.99 contract-free. If you're interested check it out here.

It looks like Best Buy has slashed the price of the Android-based HTC Dream in Canada as much as they could. They are now offering the Dream for free (in-stores) on a 3-year contract and they're even throwing in a free car charger which costs $40 CAD. Unfortunately, you'll have to fork over at least $45 monthly for Rogers' voice and data plan.

Keep in mind that this sale will last until October 29th.

It looks like Walmart has slashed their prices yet again, this time it's for the T-Mobile phones, including: the myTouch 3G, the G1, the Samsung Highlight, and the BlackBerry 8120. Check it out at Walmart here - the pricing is below by the way.

New customers are getting the best deals by far - $98.88 for the myTouch 3G, $48.88 for the G1, Samsung Highlight for $18.88, and the BlackBerry 8120 at a mere $28.88. One thing is for sure when purchasing any of these extremely discounted phones – unlimited messaging is required and of course a two year agreement. If driving to a store isn't your kind of thing, then we'd suggest checking out their web site.

T-Mobile has just announced three more handsets that they are planning to launch. First up is the most exiting of the three. A T-Mobile myTouch3G Fender Limited Edition (above)that features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 16GB memory card, and some fake wood. This smartphone will be available later this year and keep in mind that it is a limited edition, so you'll have to act fast.

T-Mobile will also be releasing what appears to be a rebranded Huawei U7510 (above). They will be launching this handset as the T-Mobile Tap and it features: a 2MP camera, Stereo Bluetooth / GPS support, 3G connectivity, and TeleNav services. The release details haven't been mentioned yet.

Last, and possibly least, is the Nokia 3711 that has: a 2MP camera, an external / internal display, 3G, GPS / Bluetooth support, and Nokia Maps.

Update: Tmo Today has just scooped up a picture of the Fender Limited Edition T-Mobile myTouch 3G.

Well, the picture above definitely brought up some speculation. According to HTC's website, the HTC Magic in Brazil could have their Sense UI on it. This could mean that the sexy Sense UI could be headed to HTC Magic and possibly even the HTC Dream. We already heard that the Sense UI would not be headed to "Google-branded" phones, so sorry T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G owners.

Well, it looks like the T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream has just dropped to $129.99 USD on a 2-year contract. There's really not much left to say here, but T-Mobile did increase the price on a few Samsung handsets, which is surprising. You can check out the new T-Mobile G1 price on T-Mobile's website here.

The HTC Magic and the HTC Dream launched on Rogers in Canada for $149.99 CAD on a 3-year contract. Due to underwhelming demand, they dropped both of their prices to $99.99 and then again to $79.99. Future Shop has continued the trend by slashing both prices to $49.99 CAD on a Rogers 3-year contract. The sale ends in two days, so you might want to get it ASAP if you're interested. Best Buy is also selling both of these Android handsets for just $49.99 CAD, thankfully their sale doesn't end until September 30th.

They launched at $149 and then dropped to $99 on a 3-year contract on Rogers early last month. Well, now "The Revolution" aka the HTC Dream and HTC Magic is now available for just $79 CAD on a 3-year contract in Canada on Rogers. The contract-free price is still the same though, which is $599.99 CAD. It's kind of sad to see these phones not doing as well as I thought they would, but hopefully Android will be successful in the future.

Rogers has just cut the price of the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic to $99.99 CAD, slashing $50 off of the original price. These 2 smartphones have been on Rogers for just over a month and they've already cut the prices, so what's going on Rogers? Apparently, they want to make it easier for people to pick up this smartphone and because they're just not selling a lot of them. With all the advertisements I see on TV about both of these smartphones, I'm actually a little bit surprised that no one has gone out to buy them. Then again, people up here don't know good products when it's right in front of their faces.

After announcing yesterday that the new HTC Sense UI - found on the HTC Hero - would be hitting other Android-based phones as well, today stirred up some shocking news. Unfortunately, the HTC Sense UI will not be hitting any "Google" branded phones, so this includes the likes of the T-Mobile G1 and the myTouch 3G. Instead, it looks like us Canadians could be getting the HTC Sense UI on the new HTC Dream / HTC Magic - since they are not Google branded. Bad news for America; good news to the rest of the world.

Update: According to Slash Gear, the T-Mobile G1 and the Vodafone Magic will not be getting the new HTC Sense UI.

Now here is some great news for those current T-Mobile G1 / future myTouch 3G owners. HTC's CEO, Peter Chou, just said that "HTC Sense will be available on some other existing devices." This could mean anything, but I bet that this will include current T-Mobile G1 owners. Canadian HTC Dream / Magic owners should be crossing their fingers that they get this release as well because the new UI definitely makes the device look so much sexier. No one knows when the Sense UI will be pushed out, but let's hope it's not too far into the future.

Rogers got the HTC Magic and HTC Dream a couple of days ago and - for the first time in my life - I was able to touch both of them. While job hunting earlier today, I decided to stop at the Rogers store to check it out. If you're American you may already know what I'm talking about, but I held the HTC Dream today and it felt less plasticky than I originally thought it would feel like. I could say the same about the HTC Magic as well. The HTC Dream seems pretty easy to type on, after some getting used to - because of the "chin."

I was really excited to touch the phone, since I love HTC and Android so much - and Google. I didn't get to test out the actual phone, but I loved the way it felt in my hand. Compact and slim enough for a pocket and the "chin" actually didn't stick out as much as I thought it would. Basically, I was impressed. I would get either phone, but I don't have enough money for them at the moment.

Today is June 2, you know what that means? Rogers has just released the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic, which is Canada's first Android device. I also believe that this means we get the Magic before the Americans, since it hasn't officially launched down there yet. The sad part is that they cost $149.99 CAD on a 3-year contract.

As you can see, the HTC Dream and Magic are going to be available for as low as $199 on a 3-year contract. What's surprising is that 2 days ago, we heard that Rogers would sell the HTC Dream and Magic for $549 off-contract, but it looks like the price has shot up to $649. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 will also be making its debut as one of the most expensive handsets to launch on Rogers in a while. The one that should create the most buzz is Rogers' listing of the next iPhone pegged for a July / August release. The pricing is still TBD, but it's still interesting news.

Over a week ago, we heard that in Canada, Rogers will be the carrier for both the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic. These are 2 Android devices, and Rogers happened to leave out the pricing details in their earlier announcement. Today, the pricing has been leaked to be $549.99 for both devices off-contract. The Magic and Dream could also cost $149.99 with a 3-year contract, but those are just guesses. The $549 price seems to be valid though, as you can see in the 2 pictures (above and below the excerpt). About the plans, I'll leave that up to Boy Genius, take a look below.

In other Rogers news, we’re hearing Rogers is toying with the idea of a few plans that include nation-wide calling, although at this point it looks like there is only one plan on the table — 350 minutes, nation-wide evenings and weekends and 1,000 texts for $45. It’s nothing overly impressive and isn’t exactly going to offer much value to anyone (especially those in the eastern time zone) but it’s a start. Slightly more noteworthy however, Rogers is apparently planning to bring back the 6GB/$30 data promotion it introduced alongside the launch of the iPhone 3G last Summer. This will not only help move a lot of third-generation iPhones, but it will also help with every other smartphone including the Dream and Magic.
