Sony PlayStation Home Headed To the PSP, Eventually

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Sony is just pouring in the news with their gaming consoles and handhelds. They have just announced that PlayStation Home will be headed to the PSP in one way or another. "The portable version of Home will allow you [to] have blogs, photo albums, chat, mini-games, and real-time connection." They haven't announced exactly when this will be available, but I know that you're looking forward to it.

4 New Acer Phones To Be Revealed Today, Killzone 2 Demo Codes, Palm Pre Will Support Flash, HTC Magic: Android G2

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

There will be 4, yes 4 new Acer phones that will be revealed later today at MWC. These actually look decent, so be on the look out for these later on my blog. These will reportedly be 4 smartphones, which will run on Windows Mobile.

If you're looking for Killzone 2 demo codes, you are in luck. You will be able to find some on Playstation Home at 6 p.m. Pacific (9 p.m. Eastern) tonight (Feb. 16)! A Helghast soldier will be handing them out for a limited time. The event will probably last around 5 minutes because of the overwhelming demand. So, you better be ready.
So, the iPhone killer, erm, Palm Pre is continuing the assault on the iPhone. "It has copy and paste, data tethering and will support Adobe's Flash." On a side note, "the Flash player for smartphones is expected to be released by the end of the year." I'm hoping that we hear more about the Pre at MWC because i'm starving for some information about this smartphone.

This is unconfirmed, but it's the Android G2. It will be dubbed the HTC Magic when it gets released to Europe under Vodafone. It will have the same flashless 3.2MP camera as the T-Mobile G1, same 3G and same WiFi capabilities. It is also rumoured to have Cupcake which is Android OS's next upgrade. Kind of like how WinMo 6.1 is going to be updated to 6.5. Keep in mind that this is unconfirmed and HTC actually said nothing about this phone at their MWC press conference.

Apple iPhone 4G Concept, Intel's Nehalem 8-Core Xeon Processor, Panasonic Says "3D Full HD" By 2010, UMID M1, Ninjas On Playstation Home, Google PowerMeter

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A new iPhone 4G concept picture was revealed to the world. It looks amazing. Very thin and sleek. The specs were not established, so you can just let your imagination come up with anything you want. Everyone looks like they're excited for the new video-conferencing that will be in the new iPhone. Until Apple releases what the next iPhone will look like, we can only create concepts of it. Hopefully, there will be a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but i don't think Apple will implement that, since they love their touchscreens. I could be wrong though.

Remember Intel's 8-core Xeon processor? Looks like it was announced on Monday at ISSCC. The 8-core, 16-thread Xeon processor is 64-bit and is part of the Nehalem family. I actually don't know much about processors, so if you want to read it, it's right here for you, via Ars Tenchnica.

Looks like Panasonic is really going to push this 3D-business. The company is striving for the output of 3D FHD (3D Full HD) Blu-ray to the world. We saw the 3D displays at CES and it was only a matter of time until one of the companies would try to take full advantage of the technology. Panasonic looks like it will be that company. Panasonic announced the "opening of a new 3D authoring laboratory at its Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory in California." Look out for Blu-ray in 3D FHD at a theater near you. We may even see it on that 380-inch screen that was shown a couple of days ago.

This netbook reminds me of the Vaio P. It's small and, to a certain extent, 'pocketable'. The UMID M1 looks like it will weigh about 0.7 pounds, have a 4.8-inch touchscreen, and a 1.1GHz Atom processor. It will also have up to 1GB of RAM, up to 32GB of SSD, "WiBro[?] / HSDPA / WiMAX / WiFi / Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera, mini USB 2.0, and an SD/USIM card." It will come pre-installed with Linux, not Windows. Some users purchasing this, probably don't know this. They're going to be surprised and probably going to send it back and complain about it too. Pre-orders for this netbook start on February 13 and will cost around $500 USD. Oh wait, it's only available in Korea. Sorry to break your heart.

Along with the recent announcement of Street Fighter and Resident Evil stuff on Playstation Home, you will be able to dress as a ninja. This outfit will be available on February 12. In addition to the ninja outfits, on February 13 there will be an event called "I Love Ninjas" in the Gamer Lounge on Home. Winners in the event will receive SOCOM and Warhawk vouchers "to celebrate the upcoming spaces." Go Ninjas!

Google, for the 41st day in a row, has released a new service. Google PowerMeter. What will this do? You will be able to track the electricity usage in your home. Google will probably have access to this information, so you're forewarned. Google has mentioned that, by knowing this information, you will be able to cut your use of electricity, so that you save your money. There is a video about it below, enjoy. This video is from YouTube, so special thanks to them.

Playstation Home Patch, Blizzard Declines E3 Invitation, Google News: Gmail's Multiple Inboxes In Labs, Google Redesigned, T-Mobile G1 Firmware 1.1 Update

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

So, patch 1.10 for Playstation Home was held back because of a "last-minute bug." It looks the problem has been fixed though, since the patch will be released today. The time has not been announced, but just look out for it. Patch 1.10 will only be released to North America right now and there will be a later release date for users in Europe.

Activision-Blizzard will be at E3. Well, half of the company at least. Apparently, Blizzard will not be attending E3. Blizzard has their own event, Blizzcon, but it's 4 months after E3. Looks like we won't be seeing any new WoW, Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 news at E3. It sucks, but what can we do?

How does having multiple inboxes in Gmail sound? Well, actually if i were you, i wouldn't have a clue what i'm talking about. So, i think i'll explain first. When you open Gmail, usually you only see the main inbox. If you go into Gmail Labs, you will be able to enable an option called Multiple Inboxes. This enables you to have up to 5 different inboxes open simultaneously on your Gmail home page. This could include: the main Gmail inbox and 4 labels of your choice. If i'm still not making any sense to you, try it out for yourself.

Here's a reason for me to use Mozilla Firefox over Google Chrome. Firefox, as you may know, has many extensions and i found one that i'm absolutely in love with. Thanks to Lifehacker, i can say goodbye to the boring Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Reader interfaces because with Google Redesigned, it changes the interface of those applications. Personally, i like the new skins on these Google Apps and i think i'm going to be using Firefox until i get tired of the way Google Redesigned looks. I'm not going to make a permanent switch, but when i feel the need to get away from the boring look, i'm going to be heading over to Firefox to fulfill my needs.

If you own a T-Mobile G1 a new update may be available for you. Update 1.1 is not "Cupcake" and is just a regular update. It may not be available to everyone right now, but it will be making its way to everyone soon. They are handing out the updates "gradually" instead of all-at-once.

Skype 4.0, More Winter, 2TB Hard Drive Fight, Toshiba TG01, Street Fighter and Resident Evil on Playstation Home

Labels: , , , , , , ,

So, Skype 4.0 was released today (download link here). If you've been using the Skype 4.0 beta already, you may not notice any new features off the bat. If you're migrating from Skype 3.8, you will notice the new UI and a slight improvement on the video calling. I'm going to try it out when i get home, to see if the video calling quality has increased. I'm always on Skype with my girlfriend, since she's on residence for University. That's how we stay in contact.

The famous American groundhog saw his shadow this morning, so it looks like there will be 6 more weeks of Winter. I don't doubt this groundhog's psychic ability at all, since up here in Canada, it's snowing today. It's been snowing for about 4 hours now and i don't think it's going to stop for at least another hour. I dislike the Winter and i dislike the snow. That is an example of a parallel sentence, i learned it in English class today.

I talked a bit about the 2TB hard drive last week, from Western Digital (here). Seagate is going to step up to the plate with their own 2TB hard drive, which is expected to hit consumers by this September. Seagate's rendition of the 2TB hard drive will run at 7200RPM. Western Digital's is running at an undisclosed "eco-friendly" speed. Western Digital's 2TB hard drive is going for $300 USD now and Seagate's will be out later this year. Hopefully, Seagate won't have the same problems with this HDD that they had with the Barracuda.

The Toshiba TG01. We haven't really heard much about Toshiba's smartphones, but this one sets itself apart from the rest. The phone itself has a very similar style to the iPhone. I mean very similar. I'd advise to go to this link to see more photos of this impressive looking device. Something tells me that this phone will be generating a ton of buzz. "The Toshiba TG01 is the first device in the world to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform, which is powered by a 1GHz mobile CPU and hosts GSM, HSDPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity all on one chipset. The CPU has dynamic speed control and Toshiba and Qualcomm claim it'll go for a whole day without recharging." The iPhone better look out for this baby. It packs a 4.1 inch touchscreen (larger than the iPhone, HTC Touch HD and the Nokia N97's screen), which will have a 800 x 480 resolution. GSM Arena mentions that "it's certainly the biggest one we've seen on a GSM mobile phone." The phone itself is also extremely thin, approximately 9.9mm to be exact. The phone has a mere 512MB of internal memory, but it's okay because you can upgrade the storage to 32GB using its microSDHC slot. The TG01 will only have a 3.2MP and it looks like there will be no flash. It will will have flash in another department, since this phone's Internet Explorer mobile 6 will support Flash, unlike the iPhone. The only downside to this phone is that it is going to run the utterly slow Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. It doesn't really make sense why this amazing phone will run on WinMo 6.1 at all because it will be released in the summer in Europe. WinMo 6.5 is already on the way and why they are deciding to use WinMo 6.1 is beyond my best guesses. They could have at least chose Android or something. Maybe, just maybe it won't run as slow as the Samsung Omnia does.

Capcom is supporting Playstation Home in a big way. There will be Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil costumes making their way to Playstation Home. Capcom also mentioned that people will be able to meet on Playstation Home and then jump straight into a Street Fighter match. There will also be a place on Home representing a Resident Evil-like setting.

CES: Sony Keynote

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Someone is talking and i have no clue who it is. I lied, it's Tom Hanks. He talks and is actually pretty funny. He introduces Howard Stringer.

Howard, alongside, Tom Hanks show a prototype of certain wearable glasses that you can watch a movie in and still manage to see the real world due to the transparency settings. Soon after, Tom Hanks leaves the stage. Time for some serious and real news now. Howard admits that Sony is not recession proof. So far this is all the information i have after 15 minutes of talking. Anyways, Howard mentions 7 goals: embrace the fusion of industries, adopt a service-enhanced philosophy, products must be multi-functional, support open technologies, advance the new shared experience, create new value chains (involving better user experience) and go green. In 2011, Sony estimates that 90% of products will connect wirelessly to the web and each other. He mentions a couple of thing's that Sony accomplished last year. The world's first Bravia with 240Hz technology, the slimmest LCD measuring at 9.9mm thin and launching a Bravia with internet capabilities. He mentions that Total Sony Experience. He shows off the world's first camera with Wi-Fi capabilities, the new CyberShot. It will have a one touch upload and the pictures are even uploadable to your Bravias. He also mentions that it has an extraordianary reasonable price and the crowd started to laugh. I could tell that this was not the reaction he wanted and he immediately cleared his throat twice to shut the crowd up. Ooo. Anyways, by using Wi-Fi, Sony has developed a new bedside companion with news, sports, weather, alarms and so much more. It will also be touchscreen and is for the next-generation. He says, "Wouldn't you like to wake up to Big Ben?... the clock i mean." The crowd chuckled a bit. Time for some OLED! They are working on a 20 - 30 inch model. He shows the "Flex OLED" screen (above picture) that has amazing clarity on a small screen. While the Beyonce music video was playing on the Flex OLED, he bent the screen more, just to showcase it. Howard mentions that Sony sells the most HD products and he continues, mentioning Blu-rays 2008 sales of 28 million. He reports that Sony sells half of all Blu-ray players. He gives the stage up to Pixar.

John Lasseter, from Pixar, enters that stage and talks about Blu-ray. He says that when you have it you can't go back. He shows a clip of their movie Wall-e featuring Blu-ray. He mentions that Blu-ray is not just about quality, but that it also has BD-live which is connected to the Internet. He shows a new Sleeping Beauty integrated with BD-live. The menu screen will show a scenery and the background, weather area, of where you are currently located by default and you can change it by clicking anywhere on the map. In the future, Pixar will use 3D and Blu-ray in their movies. John ends off his presentation by showing an exclusive preview of Pixar's next movie called Up. He mentions that they are working on Toy Story 3 and 3D version's of Toy Story 1 and 2.

Howard comes back on stage and mentions a bit more about Blu-ray. The Playstation 3 helped Blu-ray win the war between HD-DVD. He says that there is a 61.3 million install base of the PS3 and the PSP. Shortly after, he introduces someone really familiar to me.

Mr. Kaz Hirai takes the stage. He quickly says that there have been 330 million content downloads over the PSN (Playstation Network). There are 17 million accounts and 2.1 million in the most recent months on PSN. The Playstation 3 is a great example of getting a community together. This is because of LittleBigPlanet, a game that has 1.3 million players. He mentions that the original game came with 50 levels, but now there are user-generated content and up to 300,000 levels currently! He backtracks to 2 years ago and mentions that in April 2007 they launched Sony Online Entertainment. Well now, they are working on a game called Free Realms, which is an MMO. It will launch on the PC first and then shortly after, it will hit the PS3. Kaz reports that MTV is partnering with them to help with their movies, and such, on their Playstation Store. He shows Life with Playstation, which is kind of like Google Earth, but just a bit more basic. I don't know the features of Life with Playstation, but he only showcased different parts of the world and certain temperatures. Kaz talks about Playstation Home and says that in the first month, 3.4 million users doiwnloaded Home. There have been 1 million dollars worth of products sold on Playstation Home ever since it's been released [on Open Beta]. Kaz mentions that Electronic Arts is going to help them develop certain things on Home.

Howard Stringer comes back on stage and is joined by Dr. Oz. Sony Pictures will be producing this guy's show on TV in Fall 2009. I don't know what this guy has to do with anything at Sony's keynote. But, i did find it amusing that he talked about being fat. LOL America, maybe you should listen to this guy.

After Dr. Oz's talk, Howard Stringer is on stage with another person, Reggie Jackson, who is in MLB's Hall-of-Fame. He talks about his baseball career and that he is excited about future technology. Playstation 3 will be in the new New York stadium that they are building. Reggie Jackson leaves the stage. Howard tells the crowd that the Eco-Bravia won CES 2009's Innovation Design and Engineering award in the eco-design category. He talks about recycling, just like everyone did. He shows a couple of new products now. The Dye Sensitized Solar Cell, which can create energy from light in your room and he said that there is more information about it at Sony's booth after the keynote. He also shows the Sugar-based Bio Battery and the concept Greenheart phone, which is made of recycled products. He shows 3d video's to the audience, which G4 skips, since there really would be no point in us at home to see this. After that, someone from Dreamworks Animation talks, but i didn't really pay too much attention to him.

Before Howard finished his presentation, he mentioned: PlayNow Plus, a Sony Ericcson phone (I forget the model), the Vaio P (above picture) and Sony Music.

Gosh, Sony, what's with the 74-minute+ keynote? It's alright, i forgive you guys. Anyways, this weekend will be pretty tough for me. Tomorrow, i'm gonna finish blogging about everything CES and then i need to get cracking on my homework, which i have quite a bit to do.

Aldric's House!!

Labels: , ,

So, last night in my previous blog post, i told all of you that i didn't go home last night because of problems with my mother. So, i spent the night at Aldric's place, it is going so well, besides my cell phone on the verge of dying. So, i had to turn off my cell phone. Anyways, last night i slept in Aldric's room since he was downstairs watching a movie, 'Meet Dave.' Last night, i was on meebo.com for MSN and then i went to bed around 3:00 a.m. or something. My girlfriend called me a couple times last night and the last time was when i was already sleeping. I called her back, because i magically woke up. She read my blog post to me on the phone. After that, we went to go to sleep, so we got off the phone at around 4:51 a.m.

I woke up this morning "at like 12:23 p.m." says Aldric. As soon as i woke up, i went to the washroom to wash my face and to re-adjust my contacts, since i slept with them on. "You slept with your contacts on?" Yes, i did Aldric. So, me and Aldric went downstairs and played NBA 08. It was a rematch of last night's game on TV. I used the Boston Celtics and Aldric used the Los Angeles Lakers, except this time i won. Since we played on the easiest difficulty, we barely missed any shots all game. The final score was 178 - 119, for me. I was trying to hit the 200-point mark, but Aldric was coming up with some amazing blocks. Anyways, after that, we played again. We changed the difficulty to All-Star and i, again, played as the Boston Celtics. He, on the other hand, played as the Toronto Raptors, with his created character, Jamario Moon, since he wasn't implemented in the game. At halftime we stopped playing, even though i was winning. Cathleen wanted to watch some movies on the TV, so we quickly downloaded Playstation Home first, to try it out. It was pretty cool [and funny]. We went to some place where everyone was dancing around some music. Aldric was dancing, but his character wasn't even facing the camera, so all we could see was his back. Aldric then gave the thumbs down to some black character that was dancing and we all started laughing. It was me, Aldric, Cathleen and their mom watching Aldric go around in Playstation Home. He went into the Theater and pretty much did nothing. "And stole somebody's seat," says Aldric, who is sitting right beside me and being my personal editor. "Hehehehehe." Anyways, he went to the Arcade / Bowling Alley, in Playstation Home. But, since there were so many people in the alley's, he didn't get a chance to bowl or play pool. After that, he went to the Mall and soon after, Cathleen stopped him. So, we had to turn off the Playstation 3 and then me and Aldric went downstairs to play some basketball on his mini-net. "We were trying to shoot from like half-court in my basement," says Aldric. I won, obviously and then we came upstairs when we finished playing basketball. "I can't even write a whole page, like that blog, whole page of a story," mentions Aldric, who is talking about me writing this post. Anyways, when we came upstairs, we went on their sexy, Dell laptop and watched some youtube.com videos. We watched: Slamball, Top 40 Dunks of 2008, MXC, and some random guy pole vaulting and getting the pole to his balls. We were laughing real hard, i love it here. Anyways, later on tonight, we're going to my uncle's place / condo, i can't wait.

We might play "Are you smarter than a 5th grader," but we'll see. I'll be returning home tonight, so yeah. Aldric's gonna get his present tonight, which he says will be a movie, 'Kung-fu Panda' and 'Kung-fu Panda and the Secrets of the Furious Five.' He told me what to write there, so i don't really know what the second movie is because i've never heard of it. "It's in the pandemonium pack," says Aldric.

Anyways, i'm off now, until later, hope you enjoyed reading this, compliments of me and Aldric, teaming up!!

Internet Explorer, PS Home, Top 3 Touchscreen's of 2008

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

I just woke up because my girlfriend texted me and now we're on Skype. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that yesterday in the library i downloaded Skype Version 4 Beta 3. It's pretty cool, cause now i can just have 1 window open and have my video and my contacts all there for me. It's pretty cool. If you use Skype, i would suggest you try it out. Here we go.

Internet Explorer. So, as i try to convince my girlfriend to fully make the move over to Firefox or Google Chrome, which will be hard to do, i try to find some bad information on Internet Explorer. This may or may not be all that convincing for her, but maybe it'll get some of you to change your damn browsers. Anyways, Internet Explorer has holes... all versions of Internet Explorer. Basically, this means that someone could easily hack you and get all your information if they exploit this hole. Hackers are, actually, now exploiting IE7's (Internet Explorer 7) hole [That's what she said]. This hole is also present in IE6, which some people still use and i actually don't know why. All the users of Internet Explorer are at risk, regardless of what Windows OS you are running. "Last week, Microsoft released eight security updates that patched 28 vulnerabilities, 23 of them pegged 'critical.' Both numbers broke previous records that stretched back more than five years." This means that Internet Explorer fails. First of all, it's slow and buggy. Second of all, there are holes! So, get off Internet Explorer and be safe while you browse the Internet, using either Mozilla Firefox or the [faster] Google Chrome, please and thank you.

Playstation Home time. So, the author of this article said that in the closed beta he thought that PS Home would be useless and 'forgettable.' But, after trying it out on 1.03 which is the open beta, he actually found it more fun. Simply because they updated how the 'square' looks and because more people are on it now compared to the closed beta. For, Ashlee and Nikki, you can go into the theater portion of Playstation Home and actually see a new Twilight trailer, but then after a bit, you get to see some probably lame-o music video. I wish i had the Playstation 3 for myself, so that i could make my own review about it, but, that might have to wait a bit.

Ooo, according to reghardware.co.uk, the HTC Touch HD (see above picture) is the number 1 phone of 2008. Runner-up's are the LG Renoir KC910 and, of course, the iPhone 3G. The HTC Touch HD's price on this site says that it is going for 535 Euros, which is actually cheaper than the $930 USD, that i gave it, when i talked about it a couple weeks ago. They say some positives are the large 3.8 inch screen and it's 5 megapixel camera. They also like the TouchFlo HD user interface and they also mention that it is a worthy alternative to the iPhone. Go HTC Touch HD.

Second on the list is the LG Renoir (see left side). The 8 megapixel phone on this touchscreen phone really gave it it's edge over other competition. Not to mention that it has a "widget-based touchscreen UI" and has "solid multimedia features." It goes unlocked for 370 Euros.

Let's not forget the iPhone (i think you already know what that looks like by now) here now. Some reason's why it's not number one are because of it's "incomplete Bluetooth functionality, no MMS support [and] the network ties." But, there are of course the positives which are "its super-smooth UI and excellent web browser." Personally, i love the accelerometer and how fast it reacts and the list of applications you can download for it. But, you know, HTC Touch HD prevails as the king.

That was my blog for now, and i'll blog again later for sure. I'm leaving for my cousin's basketball in a bit and i'll [definitely] get back to you after that.

Gmail, Google Chrome, Sony's New Walkman, Playstation Home, Full Moon

Labels: , , , , ,

I got to school early again today, for the third day in a row. It was pretty much the usual day, except for a couple of things. So, today, for Religion we did absolutely nothing, because my teacher, Mrs. Schaljo, wasn't feeling too well. For Advanced Functions, i had my test, which was pretty easy. For lunch, i had my laptop, so i read my Google Reader and starred things that i could possibly blog about. I also downloaded a couple of mixtapes, updated my podcasts and even updated my virus and spyware cleaners. Anyways, after 2 hours i was back in class. Chemistry class, to be exact and i had my Chemistry Quiz. It was pretty easy except for some Reaction questions. So, after school i went to my girlfriend's house (again =D) for a bit. I left at around 4, after helping her review some Psych stuff for her exam tomorrow. I took my bus home and eventually i had to leave for my cousin's, Aldric's, basketball game. It was at Sheridan College. They eventually lost, but it's okay because my cousin scored over 2 black guys. LOL. Go Aldric Go! Anyways, after that game i came home and now it's time to talk about some news, briefly.

So, Gmail had an update recently. Gmail now has a PDF viewer. I can now read those Diablo, Warcraft and, especially, Starcraft books in my Gmail without my computer getting all slow and stuff. That's pretty much all i had to say about that, so let's move on.
More Google news. So the Google Pack now has Google Chrome as it's default browser instead of, what it used to be, Firefox with Google Toolbar. You can still choose Firefox as part of it's installation, but it is now optional. Just wait until Google Chrome start's shipping with PC's like (maybe) Dell, woot woot. Hopefully, this will raise it's popularity even more, seeing how it has just come out of beta and is arguably the fastest browser out right now.
So, rumour has it that "Sony has plans to unveil its first touchscreen Walkman at CES." It may be coming in 2 versions, a 16 GB and a 32 GB sporting an OLED touchscreen. Looks like it will be competing with the iPod Touch, but it is Sony. This means that it will likely be overpriced (see Sony Vaio and a handful of TV's). Last but not least, there will be Wi-Fi and will have a built-in browser.
So, as i mentioned in one of my previous blogs, Playstation Home was released but off to a shaky start. This was due to an "overwhelming demand for the service as people access Home for the very first time since it became Open Beta and appeared on the XMB." So, after a day of Playstation Home, there are already perverts flooding the world. Watch the youtube.com video if you like, although it is NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Edit: As of 11:08 p.m. on Friday, December 12th the video has been removed from Youtube. If the video resurfaces i will link it in another post.
So, you should pull out your cameras, while you can. Why you ask? Well, tonight (December 12, 2008) you will see that the Full Moon is out. What makes today so important? Today is important because this is the biggest full moon we have seen in 15 years. "It should look about 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than this year's other full moons, according to NASA." So, yup, stay on the look out for that today, for those on the Northern Hemisphere.

Google Chrome!!, Playstation Home Released, WoW and College

Labels: , , , , ,

Ahh, my day was perfect to say the least. I got to school the same time as yesterday, 7:57 or something. I went to the library and when school was about to start i left the library. When i exited the library doors, there was Nikki waiting for me =). So, we went upstairs to my locker and she put her jacket and backpack in there. She stayed for my first period Religion class since we just wrapped boxes for a food drive. For second period though, she went to go study for her psych exam and i did my Math Review. For Lunch, i got to spend 2 hours with Nikki, woot woot! Anyways, yes, so for Chemistry we just copied notes. After school, was some sick chillage. The 3 best friends at Nikki's place. So, it was me, Nikki and Ashlee. Nikki was helping Ashlee study for her Chemistry Exam on Monday and i just studied for my Chemistry quiz tomorrow. Unfortunately, i had to leave early to catch my bus, but it's okay. I got home and read my Google Reader. Amazing friggin' news today to top off my perfect day =D.
Google Chrome came out of beta today! Sexyness. So, the new Google Chrome (Version 1.0.154.36) came out today. I will restart my browser after this blog, because i'm afraid that all of my tabs might not save. Anyways, Google's Official Blog states that there are '10 million active users around the world,' in just 100 days of being released. If you thought Google Chrome was fast before, it is much faster now. "Since the first beta, the V8 JavaScript engine runs 1.4 times faster on the SunSpider benchmark and 1.5 times faster on the V8 benchmark - and there is more speed to come." On their blog, they mention that they are developing extensions and support for Mac and Linux. I can't wait for the extensions to come out because i think that's when Google Chrome will be popular. Like, everyone should be using it by then. How can you not use Google Chrome? The sandbox technology is amazing. Running each tab as it's own application. Basically, if one tab crashes, you can just close that tab and the other tabs will be running perfectly fine. This is different from LOLinternet explorer, which will crash all of your tabs if one messes up. Anyways, we'll move along.
So, the Playstation Home open beta was just released today, finally. Apparently, it is having a shaky start. PSN was having downtime right before the launch happened and there are a number of complaints saying that some users can't get in because they're stuck on the Home beta screen. The author of a 1up.com article mentions that he got kicked off when he was trying to get into his virtual apartment. I really hope this works out for Sony. It's only the first day and, obviously, problems were going to occur. I hope all goes well and that i'll be cruising around Playstation Home by December 26 of this year.
LOL of the day. WoW (above picture) is one of the main reasons that people in the U.S. drop out of college. It's not really too surprising to me but, still, an article confirmed it. This was mentioned by 'Federal Communications Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate.' She said it in a speech to the Practicing Law Institute last week. I was once addicted to WoW, but not to the point of not going to class. Dropping out of college for a game... pretty pathetic. But, ehh, there are those people out there.
3 amazing stories, summed up into 3 boring summarizations from me. Epic.

Logitech G18, What is Playstation Home?

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Before i talk about the Playstation Home, i'm just going to briefly talk about this new gaming keyboard, the Logitech G18. Engadget actually has no solid information on this piece of hardware, but it does look pretty sweet. As far as the backlights go, i think it would be better off with a good shade of blue, over the red, which is seen in this pic. Maybe that's just me, since it just matches with everything else in my room. I'm liking the look of the new keyboard screen though, it tilts enough so that you can see it perfect from where you should, generally, be sitting. I wonder if the keyboard pad, or whatever, on the left side of the picture, is optional or if it is a keyboard set. All-in-one maybe? We'll see.

So, since the Playstation Home is coming out tomorrow i thought i'd try to give it my own little summary, with a bit of help from some websites. So, basically, Playstation Home works sort of like 'The Sims' or 'Second Life.' You can walk around a virtual world, and everyone (including friends) who has the 3GB download, which is free off of PSN (Playstation Network), will be in contact with you. It's like WoW, without monsters. When it's fully finished, it should be a pretty big world. Right now, there's like a Red Bull island and you can enter buildings that have new Playstation trailer footage. They could be playing some new Playstation news or any upcoming game trailers, possibly even movie trailers. There are small arcades, and a bowling alley, where you can actually play bowling in. You can also play pool at the billiards hall. For now, i can't really say much. I did watch this 15-minute video about someone touring through the Playstation Home closed beta, which is only released to certain people and not the public. It had quite a bit of loading time and hopefully Sony will clean that up before the release tomorrow. In the video, the world did seem kind of empty and obviously they're going to add more features, like i just mentioned about the Red Bull Island. Don't forget it's free and when you need to take a break from Killzone 2 or LittleBigPlanet you can just hop on there and chat with your friends via headset or even typing it out. It'll be a good place to meet new virtual friends that might share an interest with you. In Playstation Home, you get your own apartment and you can decorate it however you like. You can even invite your friends over (just incase you might live too far from them in real life). Sony will use Playstation Home as a way to advertise their upcoming games via billboards and LCD screens in the virtual world. Although, you should watch your back, as Sony can block your IP address so that you won't be able to connect to the service. That's pretty much all that i know about Playstation Home, and this will probably be a topic i'll be talking about a lot in the future, especially if i get a PS3 this Christmas.
Hopefully, making this wasn't a waste of time, ergh.

Playstation Home, Google Chrome, Gears of War 3, Pokemon

Finally, i'm home, and ready to do my blog. I actually do have quite a bit of things to blog about today, hopefully it won't be too boring Anyways, gotta talk about my usual day first.
So, if you read my blog yesterday, i talked about how i was late for my test. Well, today, of course, i actually got to school at 7:57, which is the earliest i have ever got to school all year. But, anyways, i read a bit of my Google Reader in the library in the morning before class and then it hit 8:20, so i made my way to class. For first period we just copied notes and me and Sarah talked all class, as usual. For second period we started a new lesson, adding equations or something, some easy stuff. Lunch was the usual chill and for fourth we had to listen to a faily lengthy speech regarding cheaters and people having last year's tests or whatever. After our teacher finished with that, we copied a couple notes. I went to my girlfriend's place for a bit, and went home. Now, here comes the good part, the good ol' news.
Playstation Home is being open to all players Thursday, December 11 (tomorrow). Finally. I'm excited to see how everyone reacts to this. I really hope it's not being forced out uncompleted but, it is only a beta, so you can't really expect much. Hopefully for Christmas i'll get the PS3 and then i'll be able to judge for myself but, as of right now, i can only tell you what i read. It's being released worldwide, which is good. This release date is also confirmed, so the rumour that was spreading about a later release (December 16, 17) was wrong. Gotta love rumours. Actually, gotta love Sony for actually releasing it early (technically, not early, since it's been a long time coming). We'll see what people say the next couple of days about it though, i'll try to keep up to date as much as possible.

Some better news now. Unlike Gmail, Google Chrome will be coming out of beta. This was announced by company VP, Marissa Miller. There is no release date about when it will be coming out of beta, but at least it's good news to hear that it actually will come out of beta. Hopefully, this will happen sooner than later. Unfortunately, though, for you non-Windows users, it's still not available to you [hah]. I hope to see some add-ons soon, but who knows when that will be.
Like God of War 3, there is another rumour that has surfaced. Apparently, Gears of War 3 is going to be out during the holiday season in 2010. Remember that Gears 1 was released in 2006, Gears 2 was released in 2008 so if you do a little bit of math, Gears 3, of course, in 2010. LOL. The rumour also says that there will be a whopping 5-player Co-op. Interesting. The God of War 3 rumours actually sound a bit more convincing than this one.

LOL of the day, for me at least, goes to a Pokemon Platinum release date. To be honest, i LOL'd because i didn't even know they were still releasing Pokemon games still. There must be about 650 pokemon by now, right? I remember about 250 of them back in my pokemon days, but those are long gone. The release date is scheduled for March 22, 2009. I don't even know what handheld or console it's being released on, but my bet's on the Nintendo DS. So, tell your kids, Pokemon Platinum is coming out soon. I wonder if the game has even changed much. Run in the grass, you'll have to fight a wild pokemon. Go in another pokemon's trainer's field of vision and it's time for you to duel or whatever you want to call it. Then, go to the pokemon center and go heal your pokemon. I can't believe that stuff still sells, but i've heard worse things. Don't get me wrong, i loved Pokemon, but, doesn't the same thing over and over again get boring? Oh wait, i played WoW, and almost had 4 level 70's, so never mind...
I have more to talk about, don't worry, it'll just be in the next blog later today. I don't really want to cram 8 articles into one blog. Next blog is going to be about the 6-wheel car, the G13 keyboard, NBA in 3D and HTC releasing Android phones. See you then.

Firefox 3.1 Beta 2, G1 Unlocked, More Playstation Home, New Nokia Leaked?

Labels: , , , , ,

So, my day, was the same old stuff. The usual Religion, Advanced Functions, and Chemistry thing from everyday. During Religion i got the review off of Sarah. During Advanced Funtions, i went down to Guidance and i got my schedule for next semester, Semester 2. Right now, i have Period 1, English with Adams, Period 2, Spare. For Period 3, i have Calculus with De Luca, 3C lunch and Period 4 is Physics, with good ol' Collins. So, during lunch i'm chilling with Xu in the library and he gets surprised, finding out that i had a blog. So yeah, after school, i was supposed to go to my girlfriend's house, but since she's really lazy and can't wake up in the mornings [or afternoons, evidently] she wasn't even 'ready.' Frustrated, i went home and that's where i am right now.

So, the Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 was released today, and not 1 RSS feed on my Google Reader has reported anything about it, so yay!! But yeah, i was just downloading all this stuff on my laptop at my school's library because if i download stuff at home i might go over my 60 gb limit for the month. I was using Update Checker which i downloaded from Filehippo.com and saw the Beta there, checked my Google Reader if any sites had anything to do with it, and found nothing. So yeah, gonna test it out now. I also redownloaded Google Chrome, Firefox Minefield and a bunch of other stuff.

So, the G1 is now being released unlocked. I've read so many articles today that i don't even know anymore if it's just being released to developers or everyone. But, i found my most credible source, gsmarena.com talking a bit about it. So, the 'Android Dev Phone 1' (see picture above) is being released to developers (I think) around the world, basically. This is because Google is trying to make the OS of the phone, Android OS, as open source as possible. It is going to cost $399 USD, but you'll have to pay an extra $25 USD for a one time registration fee. Ahh, yes, great news, hopefully it will soon be released to the whole public. I would get it, if i had the money to spare. But, i'm also looking forward to the next phone by Google, which should be much better and also look better.
Apparently, i may have been wrong about the release of Playstation Home. But, i don't know, it's still a rumour. I've been seeing a 50% split on it, being rumoured to be released on December 16 or December 17. My other blog, mentioned that it is rumoured to be December 16, and my link below tells us December 17. We'll just have to wait and see.

Nokia has actually confirmed that these pictures are authentic. The picture shows 3 phones, all the same model that is sporting an interface which is new to Nokia. Techtree.com says that it appears to be a "revamped version of the S60 Fifth edition." The model of the phone looks to me like a more square iPhone minus the button on the bottom of the phone. It even looks like the whole front part of the phone, is pretty much used up by the screen, leaving no room for buttons. Reghardware.co.uk mentions that the "UI looks nothing like those on modern-day Nokia phones, including the recently launched N97. However, this latest, unnamed phone's UI does appear to be widget based, as is the one on the N97." Personally, this new UI looks incredible and the weather widget reminds me of my former love, the HTC Touch HD's weather gadget, but just a bit smaller. This will be interesting to read about in the next couple weeks or even months. Until then, like the Playstation Home release date, we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm off to do my Religion review, and then i'm off to nap, then i'm gonna write another blog. Later. Oh wait, pic of the day.

Playstation Home Rumour? Killzone 2 Release Date, Google's Plans for World Domination?

Labels: , , , ,

So, today, i didn't get a chance to sleep in because i had to go to church in the morning. I went to church at 10:30 this morning and on my way home, my girlfriend called me. She was frustrated because she couldn't find out how to put the music on her iPod onto her computer, but by the time i got home she figured it out. So, hmm, i took a quick nap, and my girlfriend called me and woke me up. She told me she was leaving to go to her brother's basketball game, so i was like, "Cool." After she left, i caught the end of the raptors game, and was sure they were gonna win. They were up by 2 with 48 seconds left, and the Portland Trail Blazers hit a 3, leaving 12 seconds left on the clock, or so. With Portland now up by 1, they give the ball to Chris Bosh. He drives to the basket but misses a tough floater / lay-up at the buzzer, so they lose by 1. They're on quite a bit of a slump lately, but i'm sure they'll pull out. Go Raptors Go! So, since my girlfriend left, and the Raptors lost, i took another nap. I woke up, and had nothing to do, so i looked for more RSS feeds to add onto my Google Reader, and after that i clicked on my 'Trends' tab. It told me that since Nov. 26, i've skimmed through 4,449 articles, wow. That's quite a bit, but for the last 2 days, i haven't been able to find anything interesting that i've wanted to talk about, which is lame-o. Luckily, i did find 2 [now 3] articles, definitely worth mentioning.

First, the Playstation Home. Apparently, there is a rumour going around that Playstation is [finally] releasing the Playstation Home open beta in less than 10 days. The rumoured release is scheduled for December 16. Man, i really hope i get a PS3 for Christmas, because i am dying to play LittleBigPlanet, and because i want to get the game which i'm talking about in this next paragraph.
Killzone 2. Scheduled for release on February 27, 2009. They are releasing it in North America and in Europe at the same time. Let's talk about the graphics of this game. This game is going to put the Playstation 3 to a test. This is because it will be the most intense game that has come out for the PS3. It has one of, if not, the best graphics ever rendered in a game, and it is not even using the Playstation 3 to it's full potential. I'm just hoping that the gameplay is at least near the quality of the graphics.
I refreshed my Google Reader and just found this amazing and interesting news. Google's plan for world domination. This is a very nice read / watch, since it is a slideshow. This is from the point-of-view of a French consulting firm faberNovel, and talks about a variety of stuff such as: acquiring Youtube, it's threat against Facebook, and about competing with Windows. Courtesy of: mashable.com, thanks: http://mashable.com/2008/12/07/googles-plan-for-world-domination/
Kinda sucks, how i don't really have much to talk about, but ehh, what can i do?
