Sony PSP2 To Feature a Touchscreen, Physical Buttons, and Two Cameras; Set For 2011 Release?

Labels: , , , , ,

Although it's not what is pictured above, there are new rumours for the next-generation PSP. Apparently, the PSP2 is going to feature a touchscreen display, two cameras (front and back), WiFi, "trademark physical PlayStation buttons" (I hope that means two thumb sticks), and possibly 3G. Apparently, there are already "finished units" floating around in the UK and games are being made in Britain right now. The PSP2 is said to be "fucking powerful" and it's based on a four-core Cell CPU (for comparison's sake, the PS3 has an eight-core Cell CPU).

Although Sony was hoping to get the PSP2 out this year, it's now scheduled for a 2011 release. Some games will likely be teased before the year ends though. Sadly, there's a "99 percent" chance that this won't be revealed at E3 - they're likely saving it for TGS.

Final Fantasy VIII Now Available On PSN In Japan

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

If you live in Japan, you can now get Final Fantasy VIII on PSN right now. Since I don't live in Japan, I'm not sure how much it's going for so you're going to have to check it out for yourself. A US release date hasn't been mentioned yet.

Sony PlayStation Home Headed To the PSP, Eventually

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Sony is just pouring in the news with their gaming consoles and handhelds. They have just announced that PlayStation Home will be headed to the PSP in one way or another. "The portable version of Home will allow you [to] have blogs, photo albums, chat, mini-games, and real-time connection." They haven't announced exactly when this will be available, but I know that you're looking forward to it.

Sony Cutting Price Of PSP-3000 In Japan On October 1st

Labels: , , , , , ,

At TGS, Sony Japan has just announced that they will be dropping the price of the PSP-3000 on October 1st. In Japan it'll drop to ¥16,800 ($185 USD) which is down from ¥19,800 ($219 USD). This is clearly to make way for the PSP Go, which is going to launch next month (October). There has been no word on if Sony will drop the price of the PSP-3000 in North America yet.

Square Enix Shows Off Final Fantasy XIV Trailer At TGS

Labels: , , , , ,

Can Square Enix really pull this off. They have just shown off a nice new trailer of their upcoming MMO, Final Fantasy XIV. I disliked Final Fantasy XI - their first MMO in the Final Fantasy series - so I'm hoping this time around it'll be much better. Check out the trailer below. Don't forget that this will be launched next year (2010).

LittleBigPlanet PSP Hitting Japan In December?

Labels: , , , , , ,

News from TGS is just leaking out everywhere. The latest leak consists of LittleBigPlanet PSP for, of course, the PSP. "SCE confirmed the PSP version of LittleBigPlanet for a December launch in Japan today." As you can see in the above document, it lists the game coming out in December of this year - just in time for Christmas.

Gran Turismo 5 Driving By Japan in March 2010

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Even though we heard rumours that it would launch this year those turned out to be false. At TGS, they announced that Gran Turismo 5 will be available in Japan starting in March 2010. It'll likely launch after March in other parts of the world, so it sucks that we always have to be the ones waiting for everything.

Alienware Gearing Up For Huge Announcement -- New m15x Notebook and X58 Desktop PC

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

At TGS, Alienware is prepping yet another announcement that will "shake the gaming world to its foundation." I don't know what that means, but I'm betting it has something to do with a new desktop PC (with new Core i7's?) or a new laptop already. Or, y'know, Alienware could be announcing their first gaming console. Okay fine, I think it'll be a desktop PC. What do you think?

Update: According to Engadget, Alienware could be announcing a new Area-51 m15x gaming laptop, which is a 15-inch version of their m17x, and a new Area-51 X58 desktop PC. We'll just have to see what these two products will bring to us tomorrow.

PS3 Slim and Price Cut To Be Announced At TGS This Year

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to the latest rumour, Sony will announce the PS3 price cut at this year's TGS 09 (Tokyo Games Show). "Meanwhile, the price cut is not the only thing we should probably be looking out for at TGS. The same magazine was also reported to say that a confirmation of the PS3 Slim will also be made in Tokyo. The mag said: "The PS3 Slim packaging looks almost identical to the confirmed PSP Go, so it isn't a fake. Expect the smaller, lighter PS3 to be announced at the Tokyo Games Show in September, just in time for Xmas."" Big news or a real big rumour? We'll just have to see at the end of September. I really hope this is true because I still haven't got my hands on a PS3 yet.

TGS 09 will take place on September 24 to 27 in the Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan. Definitely a big week for me, since season 4 of "Dexter" is starting on September 27th as well.
